I just read a topic and people were complaining about having to exit SF when they want to play vanilla maps. How many people have to do this? I know I don't. Both original and SF maps show up for me no matter what game I open. I figured that was the way it was suposed to be, it made sense.

- Do you have to exit vanilla to play SF?
Yes, they both show up in the server list, however, if, say, you run from the Vanilla shortcut and try to join a SF server then it will quit BF2 Vanilla and launch SF. And vice-versa. I believe this is the normal behaviour.AdamEcks wrote:

what they mean(i think) is when you open up vanilla then go into a sf server it exits vanilla completely loadfs up sf from desktop then tries to get you into the server you selected.
Ahh, OK, I get it now. ThanksScorpion0x17 wrote:

What I hate is people complaining about having to close and reload.
It's a freaking mod, thats how all mods work.

um..when i load SF i can still play on regular BF2 servers without having to load vanilla BF2..i just play from SF...never use regular BF2
...and you don't notice the fact that BF2-SF closes down, then BF2:vanilla loads up and tries to connect to the server?
Maybe you have an assload of RAM and it happens quickly, but on my 1GB system it takes quite a long time (of constant hard-drive thrashing) in order to swap between the two versions.
It means I generally don't swap mods. I don't mind it in SF, since I can spend all night playing the 9 or so SF maps without getting bored.
I do wonder how the EU pack will work though, since having only 3 maps in the mod is gonna get boring quickly! I hope it'll be integrated into vanilla somehow.

thats what EA said. the EF maps will be integrated into regular BF2, what I wonder is what happens to the players without the booster packs? They get kicked, dont they?Camp Freddie wrote:

When I want to play on SF maps, I click on the SF shortcut and in the maplist, I only see SF servers. Same goes with vanilla BF. I can always tell because when I'm in SF there's usually only around a 100 or so servers, but in Vanilla, there's like 900. I don't recal ever seeing a mix of the two in either server lists.
I am a complete noob though
