when you are a sniper or an engineer you lay traps out and today i was on wake i had planted claymores between some trees that the enemy likes to run by. i went 10 meters away to hide and then i see a mate goes over to the claymores and gets his ass blown up. i sayed nice one asshole and he said thanks and some other things. it should be that if you walk over them the guy who does it he should be punished this is the reason i am afraid of planting traps and we all know how powerfull they can be.

I saw the funniest thing last night. I dude was yelling at some newbies about punishing him cuz they drove over his AT Mines. The guy was yelling at them that they "were not POWERUPS", so quit driving over them. Quess you had to be there.

Are you one of those snipers that lays claymores in the alleyways at Karkand?
If so, I'd punish you too
And I next to never Punish.
IMO, claymores should only be used to cover your back while you're looking through the scope... not for boobytrapping high traffic areas.
If your enemy likes to run by those trees you speak of, theres a good chance your own team does too.

oh yeah, I really like this one, I compete in how high I can go with those and arty, I see how far I land, and then I can see where the enemy is from 10000 feet. One time I got the artillery and flew only to hit a chopper flying low then back to the ground I went, the artillery should've gotten 3 kills alone on that one.

That is either really funny or my post went right over your head... I'll assume you meant to be funny and applaud you, sir.

thanks!  I'll reveal a secret:  I like to point out the obvious!  I also know the square root of 7, but it's not BF2 related.

If EA used half a brain they would make it so your can't punish from an AT or CLaymroe Teamkill. If they do it purposely then they'll probably kill themselves trying.

My advice: Set claymroe up near an enemy base, not near yopur base. Snipers that camp near thier bases with claymore are asking to lsoe 4 points and they're paranoid!

PS. Having a buddy cover you is 100x better than claymore!

they should:
1) take and run with the idea of color coding the claymore/mine/c4 skulls
2) at that point, if you run/drive over your own teammates CLEARLY labled claymore/mine then not only should you NOT be able to punish but you, in turn, should be punished for ignorance.

My whole point with my above post that Horseman, for whatever reason, took exception to was that its not easy to tell whats a claymore and whats c4 or a mine.
If I'm in a high traffic area and I see the skulls (in an alleyway on Karkand for example... no trees ) I'm going to assume its c4, not a claymore. If a teammate is going to place a claymore in such a high-traffic area then you're damned right I'm going to punish him.

It is true that the red jolly rodger does not always show up.  Yet if it does not, you can see it that way too.  I have layed down a claymore without any icon on it at all. I still got the red scull icon in the corner of my screen if I got close to it.  Yet the indecator on the mine itself was not thier.  Yes a friendly ran right over it about 3 min later. . . yes he punnished me.

Claymores are like landmines, except for infantry.  We don't run around peppering roads with landmines unless we want lots of teamkills, and claymores should be the same way.  At the top of a ladder on the building you're sniping from? Sure. 6 feet behind you on the hill you're on? Great.  But if you want to claymore anywhere that gets a decent amount of traffic, my suggestion is do it offensively.  In other words, don't lay a claymore unless you think there's about a 90% chance that an enemy will trip it within say 30 seconds.

Unattended "defensive" claymores have killed me a few times.  The reason is because C4 is about 1000 times more common than claymores, and when I see the red skull I usually figure that's what it is.  Of course when the claymore is in plain view this isn't really a problem, but C4 mistaken identity still accounts for a lot of claymore TK's.

I've come across friendly claymores completely cutting off important routes of advancement or escape, and it's really frustrating.  If you're alone and being chased, you're pretty much screwed.  If I'm playing with a friend, one of us is almost always a medic, and if we deem it to be a Really Dumb Claymore, one of us will suicide on the claymore and the other will revive them.

When I die to a claymore, I say something in team chat like "Dude pls dont claymore there", and I forgive the teamkill.  The only time I'll punish is if I die 2 or 3 times to the same sniper after they ignore me repeatedly asking them to stop.  My style of play doesn't involve running around friendly sniper nests, so when I die to claymores it's almost always because the sniper decided to get "creative".

Sadly, on public servers there's always going to be a fair percentage of people who are either really new or never bother to clue in to things like teamwork, so we can expect badly placed claymores and noobs running over our well placed ones for a long time to come...

Gotta say this really does fuck me off, excuse my French.

karkand (or is it Karkland ) is just the worst for this. I helped my friend get his vet explosive and he was one away from expert using claymores before being kick. It's pretty easy to do, just have a support guy give you ammo while you slap claymores down. Sounds great right? Yeah if your team wasn't retarded. Or if FF is off. That's the only time you can do this but expect glitching in buildings...

Damn... I've never really spoke in global chat before but christ... I've never seen such stupidity in a game in my life. I actually asked one guy if he thought running over friendly mines was something he enjoyed doing in his past time and told him running over friendly mines makes you move that little bit faster (well it does... Vertically)

I'm not talking about claymores on ladders here or claymores on flags that you need to retake, oh no I'm talking about claymores in clear view, we put them in the entrances near the Hotel on Karkand, you know the entrances the enemy run in... Well not today, our team mates decided rather than go round they'd bee line for that mine and go boom, only for me to go "Ammo here" and my friend replace it with a fresh mine.

I don't know what it is but they bring out the worst in people. Even the enemy. We put this claymore above the stairs on the building and told our team members to come up the stairs (They didn't suprisingly) but this enemy must have come up the stairs about 8 times only to go boom every time, same bloke. He finally learnt

"Hmmm stairs have mine there, me avoid stairs"

its funny how people complain about claymores in the alleyways of karkand. putting claymores in high traffic paths to hotel as a MEC is a defensive move. they come to you. thats defence. but the people who complain about running into them arent defending the hotel, theyre attacking the USMC spawns and are rushing to die anyways.

if youre rushing the front line instead youre most likely doing to die anyways. so what does it matter if its a claymore. you shoudlnt be there anyways, you should be going around and ambushing them.

man EA needs to fix this stupidity. thats why i never assume its a c4 anyways. i go the other way. the range of the explosion is too big to chance a run past it, out of the blast area

Your earlier post was just plain commonsense and I can't understand why anyone would take exception to it.

Claymores are for personal protection, as you rightly say 'to cover your back'. They are not for booby tarpping high triffc areas or alleyways (with or without trees) ... and rightly so, if a team mate runs over them, THEY should be punished as a suicide.... after all, what else can you call blind ignorance.

I'm with you on this one... I like the sniper roll from time to time and will only lay claymores if I know I'm in a vulnerable spot

I played BF2 the other day, had a lot of fun. I added about five teamkills to my stats, all unintentional. I killed people by throwing an annonymous grenade, accidently shooting while a team mate was in front of me, trying to shell an APC with a tank but my team mate in a Linebacker moved infront of the shot, shooting someone with a plane, (I never hit enemies in a jet, I suck so much, I was stoked that I even got a kill,) and laid a mine to have it run over by a teammate in a Vodnik that he had stolen from an enemy base. The only person to punish me was the one who drove over the mine. For those other ones, I would have punished me, but the good folks who were killed decided not to punish, (I thank the Linebacker guy especially because if he had punished I wouldn't have got the Gold that round. It was close between me and my old BF1942 adversary "AirAardvark." We actually finished the round with the same score of 69, but I had a better combat score and he had a better teamwork score. I think they may judge teamwork lower than combat.)

Sure, it's irritating that you showed blatant stupidity by driving over a clearly marked and obvious mine in an ENEMY VEICHLE, but it wasn't my fault, it was yours. Be a man and admit to yourself that it was your fault, and that the mine-er is the victim here.
