Has anyone else noticed, that it seems to be impossible to get a hit indicator on someone who is doing the roll animation before going prone, and it seems to be next to impossible to hit someone while they are doing the normal animation of going prone. I noticed this when I was playing yesterday, because I kept getting killed by people with the PKM while I was running around with my G36E. Now, it seemed like I would have my crosshairs right on them, even when I was zoomed in, and if I fired while they did this animation, no hits, and then I'd die. So I started messing around, seeing if you really could hit someone doing the roll animation. So I was right next to a guy, maybe a meter or less when he did it facing the other direction, and when I shot him during the animation, nothing. I still got the kill of course, but not until after he had come to a stop in the prone position. Anyone else have any experiences with this?

Sorry if this has been brought up before, but I couldnt find anything after searching for it,

never tested it b4, but its definetely more difficult to hit someone while they are in the roll animation.
I wouldn't say its impossible, but if it its a decent player on the other end of it your in trouble

When you go prone, other people see the animation, but your screen just drops down.

I tested this with my buddy and yes you can hit someone while they do this animation; however, the problem seems to be two fold:

A) The person is actually already proned by the time you seem them doing the dive; hence, you are shooting thin air, when you see them diving down! Aim for the ground and just shoot there or you have no hope. The rolling animation is the same problem, if you fire at the model, the characters hit boxes are not aligned the way you see them doing the roll. My friend and I were only able to damage eachother by aiming for center of the mass of the animation.

B) Server and client lag via the servers tickrate, its connection and # users, your connection and what your comp can handle, +pb messing around too makes for many potential lag situations. In these situations when trying to hit someone prone diving in your face or doing the sideways roll, you think you're aiming correctly but coupled with lag and the problem in part A you can see why you won't hit anything.

You can tell there is quite a bit of server lag, when you shoot someone and he shoots you, and you both die 1 second later from eachothers bullet. Or when you round a corner away from a guy shooting you, you get around the corner, but 1 second later it says your dead to the guy you ran around the corner from. Alternatively, with the sniper rifle, you can take a shot at a guy, you know you hit, but it says no kill instantly. 1 second later, it shows you up as killing him with your rifle...Or the cases where you unload a pkm on a guy and you see many puffs of dust, but no kill and then suddenly you die...I've counted up to 8 bullet puffs and no kill, then dying myself.

Those cases just illustrate that there is a very noticeable delay in the game, whether from game mechanics or lag, it is there and something you MUST anticipate in online play (LAN must be different I wonder how it is). Anticipate a mild delay when cranking people and you will be less frusterated, although there isn't much you can do about rounding the corner and magically dying.

I usaully stop firing when I see that Roll thing becuase it looks like he is going down Dead. After I warm up I don't.

Would I see the roll animation in Battlelauncher?

I hit the strafe (D) and prone keys at the same time, but nothing special will happen when playing the demo thru Battlelauncher.

So that, either it won't record animations, or I still need to practise

Try strafe <D>, than your <Prone key>!

For some reason it ALWAYS happens to be with someone using the G63E/L85A1/PKM...

Then again, that is all people really use...

Just try not to think they rolled, just try to somehow think they are just prone. I personally can't do that i just fire and die. Maybe you'll be better. Blame DICE for including something like this that only effects the person seeing it (if it affected the person rolling their screen would go upside-down and whatnot)

Bad multiplayer mechanics. Bad gameplay...

Other than that it's a great game.

It really is a pain in the ass to hit sombody doing the roll animation...always seems like they land a headshot while they are upside-down in mid-rotation.

That would be awesome if they included that in the next patch (without messing everything else up).  As you do the roll the player doing it's screen also does a rotation and gets shakey.

Heck even if all they did was turn off the ability to fire while doing it, it would make me happy.

also what affects the "corner kills" and "1 second kills" and such is the ping of players. if both have a ping of 200 the hits will be taken to the server in about half a second so that also affects.

That's why low ping snipers have better ability of shooting ppl in move..

This is their ping advantage and faster reaction Mr. Valium and now stop whining and get an better internet connection.

No.. :S Where I come from its: L96A1, Claymore, SVD, M95, M24... and the rest PKM..

I hate it.. it ruins the gamelay

The hitbox doesn't follow the animation, (you can thank 1.2 for that) they are actually on the ground when you see them rolling.

That would be because the animation happens after they press the prone button so they're hitbox is ahead of them so if you shoot at their animation you won't hit anything...

There is zero bullet deviation for the shooter during the act of going prone.
