honestly, you're lying. how can you not use a 13" screen? scottish college is more demanding than university finals? cause everyone else i know seems to cope fine. 15" was a burden for me, anyway, having to carry around a laptop for 4-5 hours a day walking around a huge campus. it was unnecessary to have that extra space/weight.

i'm not lying! I love haivng screen space, especially being able to snap two windows to either side of the screen in windows 7.

I have a 17".
13" works fine, but i just wanted a bigger screen.

Zique is right about the multi-tasking. I would recommend a macbook over a windows laptop to any student, simply because its so easy to work with. The swipe techniques are easy to learn and use and they really help when you have to switch between tasks quickly.

i know
My bag was big enough, the weight wasnt an issue (all mbp's are very light) and this one can run almost anything.
I really like the bigger screen.

they go way over the price-performance ratio for me, personally, the 17"s. i'd rather buy a brand new 15" every time they release one than fork out for the 17".

I guess that depends on what your budget is.
If you want a 17" you have to able to spend quite a bit and it has to be worth it (to me is was), but if youre a poor student (like 90% of the students) the 13" is better because it will you give you a lot more for its price.

But i was more than happy to pay extra for the better performance and additional 2 inches.

i don't think students are too 'poor' to afford a 17". if you can afford a £1000+ laptop then you're hardly poor (which is what the 13" costs). i think it's just a matter of spending priority . most students don't want to spend an extra £1k on top of the already-high starting price for more screenspace... that's a lot of beer, clothes and nights-out! also the extra performance in the 15-17"'s is mostly all GPU, cost-wise anyway, and it's more like 90% of students don't play graphic-intensive videogames than 90% of students are 'too poor'...

Maybe poor was a bit too harsh, but yeah, spending priority seems to be more the case.
It's true that when you use your mb for nothing but work/studying the 17" might be abbit over the top, but i also wanted to be able to play games on it and i wanted the extra screen size. So an easy choice for me.
I think all mbp's are great (most other mb's as well) as a laptop (not a fan of the their desktops though) and depending on what youre going to use it for or what you prefer, theres a macbook for it.

The size of the screen isn't all that important. If you're dying for a better view, plug the damn thing into a monitor. I prefer 17" not because of the size, but because it's been my experience that a roomier chassis allows for a better cooling profile. But for portability, low-power 13" every time. And you won't be constantly reminded about the bloody anchor in your pack.

Also, people shouldn't open the fucking things up in class and start clacking away on them like complete douchebags unless it's pretty much a required tool for said class.
