To the cupboard in the bathroom with the bandages in. All they're gonna do with a broken to is strap it to the one next to it.

Thought so, I'm pretty much working out what's going on in the experiment as I go, there were 4 parts to the experiment, me and my lab partner couldn't get the second part to work for us so the guys opposite offered to give us their data and for us to do the final part and they the third.
Seemed like a kinda good idea at the time but now I'm stuck not 100% understanding what's going on with half the data.

Thought so, it's some pretty basic AC experiment bullshit (so sine waves should be right) but I had to use another groups results because shit kept going wrong with ours which led to me not really understanding what's going on.
Cheers for the help.

lolnope. Definitely not missing out, all I was curious about is that I only ever see girls doing this, sure relationships dissolve but it seems to be the female half of the population that are going the most crazy as soon as they move out.
Guess I'm just sensitive and emotional then. I haven't had a girlfriend in a couple of years. I also wasn't upset, just something I'd noticed happening to a lot of other people.
Last time I went all emo on this thread was ages ago. Like 10 pages or something, practically pre-cambrian.
Whenever I get bored I come and read this thread, never fails to cheer me up.
Anyone know how to convert rms voltage to peak to peak?
Google seems to be chucking up several different and pretty inaccurate answers.
From the experiment it seems to be that PP=2*(rms*SQRT(2)),
however some google results and people in my lab think it's just rms*SQRT(2)
If it helps: (dmm= digital multimeter, amm= analogue multimeter)
frequency pp voltage amm rms amm pp volt dmm rms dmm pp volt
1 3 0.763 2.158089896 0.95 2.687005769
1000 3 0.9 2.545584412 1.074 3.037730732
This is using the calculation I think is right and seems to give values in the right range.

Why is it pretty much every girl cheats as soon as they get to uni? Seems to be an exclusively female thing.
Haven't read the last one yet, quite enjoyed the others. You don't have to actually concentrate on them or anything. They're just poorly written ripoffs of every fantasy book that teenage boys read.
Done. Fuck that Kyle kid.
This is not right:
edit: they were steel ball bearings, so the density should actually be nearer 8000kg/m^3 but the micrometer I was using wasn't calibrated right. That'll be going in the analysis.
The parts that aren't right are the errors on the densities, the density for the 1.5mm one i've fixed.
edit2: the formula I'm using to calculate my error is Density * sqrt( (error on mass/mass)^2 + (error on volume/volume)^2) )

1.4 moles would give a better answer? Maybe you've calculated one of the values for the stuff you're combining?
yeah, I reckon you've got the number of moles wrong then.
Dunno how you'd add stuff together, only a simple physics student here.

On a slightly related note. Uzique, how did you manage to get into tutoring for money?
someone needs to teach me how to do that, I can never work out how to do it properly on the new excel.

Analysis and conclusion seem pretty pointless to separate to me.

Yeah, it's pretty obvious. I want to go into research myself. I'm just saying people tend to do physics more out of personal interest than the high pay that some wrongly believe you get.Spark wrote:

Dunno where the idea that the sciences pay well comes from. Engineering sure, natural sciences no.
It's the UEA that offers the top up year, not a bad uni. It's done by one of their shitty departments though, media or something, not the actual music department. The foundation is done at a local college though. Really don't see the point of doing a foundation degree in an academic subject.
I've got a friend doing one, the only point of them seems to be they're easier to get onto then you can do a top up year or two and turn them into a shitty undergraduate degree.
He's doing music and the uni that accredits it wont award a full music degree even with the top up, you get some media communication thing.
They're a waste of time.

Meh, research pays fuck all for graduates to. Not to mention you have to have a Phd and do shitty unpaid internships before even landing a job.

Pretty much every uni quote's some bollocks stat from anywhere in the last 15 years about being the best for "*****", there's enough papers and websites to produce any statistic to support whatever.
