Good to see the blackhawks are doing their best to keep their championship roster intact. Oh wait....
Best topic title ever

Very interesting, makes sense I guess. I remember back as a lil kid when they banned smoking at the bowling alley, thought it was kinda odd back then too.SenorToenails wrote:
Well, that clears that up. I had figured it was just an extension of those 'smoking sections' that were all the rage way back.JohnG@lt wrote:
Nah, it's about employee health. There were some pretty massive lawsuits in the 90s related to it.
Never smoked, no desire to and don't give a shit if you do. Still think banning smoking in bars is stupid.
That was fun. Even though the hawks took off the 3rd period they still won. Byfuglien needed to do a lil bit more to win the Conn Smythe, like play games 1-4 of the finals like the San Jose and Vancouver series. Giving it to Toews is the easy way out being the captain and all.
Hey the hawks are finally playin like the hawks. Nice.
Paul Pierce needs his magic wheelchair. Then he'll be alright.
Main problem I see with DAST as a reader more than a poster is the quality of posters has just consistantly gone downhill. Even some of the old time posters are still around don't post anywhere near as much as they use to and the people filling the gap really are just not that good for the most part. Basically, when I go to a news or sports website, I avoid reading some of the columists because I already know they're gonna suck. The same thing happens here. When I see a lowing vs. rus quotetree bonanza, it's just not worth even looking at because I've seen it before. I know it's gonna suck. The insults and shit are as old as DAST as far as I'm concerned and are not really the problem. Getting quality new posters on a forum for a mostly dead game? Yeah.....
Anywho, still provides an interesting perspective sometimes but even then less and less. Beats reading articles on cnn.
tl:dr Quality sucks and it really can't be fixed.

When you can't see the team on the TV, hard to learn to like the team. Fuck yeah I jumped on the bandwagon last year and it has been a fun ride. That said, thank the Sharks for getting Detroit out of the way, Hawks can't seem to play Detroit well and the Sharks were overdue for a post season flameout.tF-voodoochild wrote:
You're kidding right? The average attendance at Blackhawks games has been dismal until the last two years. Despite having the arena capable of holding the second largest amount of people of any team in the nhl, their average home attendance was at the bottom of the league for most of the last decade. I'm sure it's hard to stand by your team when they fail to win a cup for nearly half a century.Poseidon wrote:
I'd love to see the Hawks win the cup. Their fans are (from what I've seen) actually true and stick with the team.
That being said, I expect the Blackhawks will beat the Flyers this year and all the bandwagon fans will be happy.
Big Bad Buff with ANOTHER game winner. Awesome.
Good thing San Jose had home ice, otherwise my Hawks might of had some trouble. Either way, the Byfuglien line is awesome.
Big Buff: 3, Vancouver: 2. Unstoppable
Gramps was Polish military during WWII and was sent to Siberia but made it out alive so not all were dumped in a ditch. Also went to see a WWII museum in Poland that had a commemoration for those "disappeared" by the Russians.ATG wrote:
Maybe he wouldn't have been so nationalist if Poland didn't get it so bad by the ruskies in WW2.
How many Poles did the Russians execute, like 20-30k?
College boys and politicians and military leaders were rounded up, interogated and shot and dumped in the forest. Amirite?
By russian dogs, amirite?
Fear the deer!!!
So basically, Big Ben has sex with some drunk bitch and some mother hens get all pissy cause they can't "save" her so they tell her to sue when she sobered up. Should have been a non-issue. I was thinking 3-4 games sooooo if it's only 4 I guess that's ok.
Our goal is not to lose by double digits in at least one game.11 Bravo wrote:

You won't get into U of I with a 2.9. Maybe journalism or some other stupid shit but not the engineering or business that makes it worth a damn to get a degree there. Probably gonna have to go the community college route.
Should only be relegated to ESPNews and on occasion ESPN2.
Just think to yourself: What would The Situation do?
Good game Canada. You beat the US Midwest + Northeast + a guy from San Fran and a guy from St. Louis thrown in.
Yeah, schools over here don't really see specialising as the way to go. I probably could have completed all of my core business studies within 4-5 semesters but instead the school decided that we needed to be more well rounded. So I also had to learn about African music, and rocks, and Ganymede.Bertster7 wrote:
In that case Community College sounds like a great way of getting through the early steps of a degree on the cheap.
For high school do you guys not select a few subjects to study exclusively? Students here aged 16-18 pick 3-4 subjects to do A-Levels in (or gay easy AS-levels these days (and yes they are easier I've done A-levels and AS-levels and the A-levels were WAY harder)).
Here you might have spent 2 years studying Maths, Physics and Computer Science then when you go and do a degree in something like Engineering or Physics then you are already fairly well prepared. I'm a big supporter of the idea of specialising as early as possible - play to your strengths and don't waste time on your weaknesses.
It woke me up. Was all wtf. Then went back to sleep.
Lol Brady. Go go Ray Rice!
Not a bad bowl season for the Big Ten for a change. Yay.

Seriously could have cut some of the "learning to be a blue guy" crap and added some back story. Personally, I thought it was an OK movie, 7/10 but I would have liked if it had gone another direction. Would have been more interesting if the Native Americ.... I mean Na'vi got decimated. Now THAT would have been a plot twist. But then this would be hard...KEN-JENNINGS wrote:

Society cost is probably can't be leveled equally because some are legal and readily available like alcohol and tobacco while other are illegal. And yes, I did read that it said "However, these drugs also generate tax revenue that can offset their health costs to some extent." As far as I'm concerned, the figures are just made up numbers. That said I did read it while watching my bears lose again and all I can say is it's a typical "pot isn't that bad" article while pointing at tobacco and alcohol being legal. Same major points as always. That said, I agree it should be legalized so assholes that smoke pot have to pay the same stupid taxes that I do on my beer.
Oh ok. According to chart LSD, ecstasy, and meth GHB are less harmful than pot. Therefore with my preconceived notions of said drugs, pot should not be legalized.DesertFox- wrote:

I usually hate Florida/Tebow but I felt sorry for him with the whole crying incident. See, I understand that his life is pretty much all down hill after they beat Cincinnati cause he's just not good. And they might not even beat Cincinnati cause they're all pissed off and motivated since their coach dropped them for Notre Dame. Buddy of mine came up with an interesting point though, Tim Tebow's life isn't over cause he's just gonna become a pastor now. Much more likely than a starting QB in the NFL anyways
Golf needs Tiger more than Tiger needs golf. Should be fun to see
People like marine are entertaining. Everything else is a moot point
Christmas is pretty suck. New Years is better
No, not for the title. They probably would have vaulted Cinci to the title game had Texas lost. That said, I wanted to see TCU vs. Florida and Boise vs. Cinci. And being a Utah fan you had to love watching them beat Bama last year
So the BCS is giving us BYU vs. Boise. Fucking cop out, don't wanna let the little guy embarrass a big conference school.
Tiger Woods made a billion dollars playing golf. He can have as many ladies on the side as he wants!
Soooo the US gov't already spends a shit ton on health care for an inferior product in comparison to other countries yet their "fix" is to throw money at the problem. Great.
Back when I went there, the jets flying over the stadium before the game pissed me off cause it woke me up. I didn't wanna be awake to watch that crapS.Lythberg wrote:

Should law enforcement authorities and the government treat gang members no differently than terrorists? Because quite frankly, some of the shit that MS13 does is far more of a threat to national security than some hotheaded extremist in Afghanistan.
Honestly, I put it more on supply and demand rather than being pegged to the dollar. Demand is down simply cause people can't pay for it.
