Well, gotta say it's my favorite game ever. BF1942 before this, particularly the DC mod and 21CW organized play for a while. I think the only improvement I would've liked would have been the CTF mode from 1942 making it to BF2. I still remember timing the captures to pick up a guy in an empty plane seat right after he grabbed the flag. Guess it'd be a little impossible to catch someone doing that in a jet :-)

Did a BF2 Google search looking for a picture to use and this was in the top few links. I forgot how funny this was until I watched it again. Even better when my 4yr old walked into the office and said, "look at them all jumping around, why are they jumping around, that's silly" and started laughing at the bunny hoppers.

Dude. Nice. Still not sure how based on the code, but it creates a loop. I moved this thread to a separate browser window and have 5 tabs open running that script. 30k votes in about 15 minutes. Nice work. Gotta say I'm glad for dual core CPUs, though. Firefox is now eating one whole core on it's own running those.Sydney wrote:

Good luck Mr. Astley.
It is a lighter. Unscrew the thing on bottom to add fuel. Think it used (ethyl?) alcohol as a fuel. Worked like an old style alcohol lamp. Should have a cotton type thing for a wick to bring the alcohol to the top.

While we're throwing out kudos, DFI used to have a support forum run by Angry_Games (Travis something or other). That guy kicked serious ass. A few years ago, I built my own rig in a small town where no one knew how to test enthusiast stuff. It inevitably failed. DFI support guy said to ship my stuff to him and he'd mess with it. Turns out RAM was slightly out of spec and wouldn't post w/ the main board, but would post in any other less strict board. DFI sucked but the support guy rocked. They've since parted ways I think.
And, related to that... OCZ frickin rocks. Angry_Games had a contact at OCZ and emailed him that the tolerances were off on my RAM and the OCZ guy emailed me direct w/ an RMA and an apology. A week later I had my components back from Angry_Games and replacement RAM hand picked by OCZ as w/in tolerance to work in my mainboard.
And to tie it all together, I bought all that shit from newegg, who nicely let me RMA the mainboard before we figured out it was the RAM, not the board.
So in summary...
<3 Angry_Games, <3 OCZ, <3 Newegg.

Alright, but this thread needs facts, not opinions. Besides, I never said I don't care about your opinion, I said it means nothing if you can't prove it. And just because you have played it more, doesn't mean you know more about the actual net coding of this game. Besides, your opinion probably lies on the fact that you have a placebo in your head that not optimizing your settings gives you better hit registration. By the way, I'm not the one that's whining, you're the faggot who's going on saying this shit doesn't work and how everyone's wasting their time and how you pwn at bf2 loleleelele kthxbaii g wrote:

Tehremos, this is an internet board, not real life, I don't care if I'm mature or if I'm not mature.
The burden of proof is on the people advocating the change and suggesting it leads to reliable results. The thing is though, there's no way to actually test their assertions. You can't hold all variables steady (server lag, player lag, target lag, aim, etc) in order to isolate these changes and attribute a perceived boost in hit reg to those changes. There's just no way without examining the code to determine what those changes affect and how they may or may not be related to each other.
All y'all supporting this stupid claim are like a bunch of creationists. Just because you believe the world is a certain way doesn't make it so, and, "because I said so" isn't considered a valid argument to support your claims of success.
The fact that there's a lot of "worked for me" and "didn't work for me" responses tells me it's bull shit. If it worked, it'd work for every one, not just some of them. Furthermore, I'd suggest that anyone that thinks it's working for them are either (1) slightly better today than yesterday so their aim has slightly improved, or (2) are simply inconsistent in their aim and are sometimes good and sometimes bad. Frankly, it's easier to believe those points than it is to believe some schmuck on the internet reverse engineered the net-code and found three magic variables that fix everything and are linearly related to your specific conditions.
Whoever believes this BS, I've got 3 magic beans I'll sell you for your dairy cow...
PS - I'd be curious how many actual software devs or QA folks believe in this garbage.
PPS -- For those that wish the naysayers among us would keep to ourselves and just let you have your bull shit thread... Ignorance offends us, especially when it's passed off as fact in order to reel in more unsuspecting folks with a less sensitive bull shit meter. The good ol' "it's detected as a trojan but I dunno why, it's fine" thing should have raised a red flag for everyone.
You must be new here. There's no room for truth or logic on the internet or these forums. Rumor and completely made up bull shit is all we allow here.Fat_Swinub wrote:
Doesn't the game just start at 100ms and then sample out averaging on your ping anyway making manual setting useless anyway?
Case in point -- author picked out three variables that looked good to him with no context from the source code, and an assumption that they are related by a simple ratio, never mind the fact that they could be completely unrelated or related by any other number of mathematical functions and are more likely than not to be something other than linear for different conditions. More specifically, if they were related by any such function they wouldn't exist as separate variables because the value for the others would be determined by the primary and it would be hard coded that way. The fact they're not tells me the devs knew they weren't related by simple ratios.
Anyone that has done coding knows you can't just assume what variables do or what they're used for without reading the code. And given that you can't reliably count on someone's aim every time nor the conditions of their or their target's lag to reliably test a "hit reg fixer", the only people I trust to provide this information are the game devs themselves.
Simply put, *AGAIN*, if all that was required to fix hit reg was to check ping and plug in some simple formulas, it would have been built into the game originally or in a patch.
I'm with arnie_ze_austrian... Sounds like a bunch of bullshit. If it was that easy to fix hitreg, the programmers would've built it into the game with any one of the numerous patches.

It needs more than that. Probably a server side patch as well, since the server talks to the stats server and probably has some check built in where both server/client authenticate w/ the stat server.Cheez wrote:
