Anybody else notice how many of Ubisoft's latest titles on Steam are now at the normal $49.99 PC price now? Including Assassin's Creed III, Hitman: Absolution and even the freshly released Far Cry 3? Between that and how they acknowledged how much people hate the always-online DRM and say they won't use it anymore, in addition to Assassin's Creed III actually supporting DX11 instead of taking the lazy way out like the last three games, I think Ubisoft might just be trying to clean up their PC-friendly act.
Fuck Ubisoft.
Driving with all-or-nothing input like a keyboard is definitely not amazing, but analog sticks on controllers are by far the worst granular input devices for driving. I drive much better with the keyboard than anyone I've seen driving with a controller in GTA. The thing to me is that the majority of story content in GTA games is on foot, and that the game itself is a third person shooter. Playing it with a controller and fine aiming is clumsy as fuck, and if you don't use fine aiming, you're really just playing the biggest part of the game with easy mode auto aiming. That's no fun.

Super Mario Bros 3 - $50
New Super Mario Bros Wii - $50
Atari 2600 - $200
Nintendo Wii - $200

Come on, unnamed. Top-tier PC games were $50 with few if any exceptions between 2000 and 2010. Then that went up to $60. Guy's complaining about a game that used to be $50 now being $60, but he isn't complaining about being paid $6 for every $5 he used to be paid._j5689_ wrote:

To be fair, $50 in 2000 is $63 today, adjusted for inflation. $60 is a lot better than it could be._j5689_ wrote:

Fuck Splinter Cell. Fuck Ubisoft. A while back I thought I'd give them another chance with Splinter Cell: Double Agent, and I got a well-known crashing bug that there was no way around. Had an exchange of several million e-mails with their shitty support, and they had me do several million idiotic things until they found something totally unrelated that was aesthetically different from what they were expecting, and the fuckers said the problem was on my end.

Didn't the democrats take control of the senate in connection with that? As far as consolation prizes go, that sounds pretty significant to me.
You mean very like every class-based war game in the history of games. Yes, I preferred the old system as well, but don't fool yourself into thinking that PlanetSide didn't have classes. They just defined them by armour instead of role, and gave you more flexibility with equipment, though only to a point. The class-based limits you in some ways, but it also affords new possibilities, like the jetpack on the light assault class.War Man wrote:
Lets see.mikkel wrote:

I'm getting more disappointed with that game the more I hear about it. The game is copying out of battlefield and call of duty too much for my tastes, it is missing alot of the good stuff planetside 1 had.
Planetside 1 had no classes, essentially it was 1 class that could have so many different armor and equipment combinations. You could essentially choose to be both a medic and repair guy but can't have much ammo or good weaponry to tackle infantry and/or vehicles well. Now Planetside 2 will have 6 classes and their themes are very battlefield like with maybe a few exceptions.
Giving control of the main gun to the driver is a consequence of how absolutely terrible it was to operate a two-man tank as a driver in PlanetSide outside of a squad. Not only did you have to find a gunner, but the gunners that you'd find were the ones standing around not doing anything because they were too terrible to actually go attack stuff. They were usually too terrible to operate the gun as well.War Man wrote:
Tanks were operated by 2-3 people( the driver, gunner, and spotter/secondary(for Terran's tank)). The driver absolutely operated none of the guns(except the Vanu's tank, which only had the "mg" that was directly fixed to the tank), he only concentrated on driving, it was the gunner that operated both the mg's and main cannon. Tanks required teamwork and communication between the crew and also were very tough to kill, generally requiring a full squad to take them head on. Now, the driver will operate the main cannon and the gunner only operates the mg, plus tanks are much much easier to kill now(it's like killing a tank in battlefield 3 now with extra features to make it easier). So they not only removed the teamwork aspect of the tank, they also fucking nerfed it and made it play like the battlefield franchise tanks.
And how did they remove the teamwork aspect? Any lone tank driver in PlanetSide 2 will be torn to shreds by virtue of the limited field of view, and the lack of anti-infantry and anti-air weapons. In PlanetSide 2, the driver destroys things, while the gunner defends the tank. How is that not teamwork?
So you mean that I won't have to hit a Rexo fifteen times with a Gauss Rifle to kill him? Yeah, that sounds positively terrible. It's also just like Day of Defeat, Counter-Strike, ArmA, Battlefield, Rainbow Six, S.W.A.T, Red Orchestra, and the rest of a long, long list of games that do the same. It's not a Call of Duty mechanic. It's a general gaming mechanic, and one that was sorely missed in PlanetSide.War Man wrote:
Requires very few bullets to kill now, in fact, if you get in close quarters infantry only sectors, it is run and gun just like fucking call of duty. YAY!!!!!!!
Also just like EVE Online, Freelancer, Auto Assault, and BFRs in.. PlanetSide!War Man wrote:
All the vehicles can be configured with various weaponry depending on the situation just like battlefield 3(although I like this one).
This is the only really legitimate complaint, and it doesn't actually have anything to do with Battlefield or Call of Duty specifically. It's stupid, and I wish they'd take it out, but don't attribute poor design choices to plagiarism.War Man wrote:

They first announced CE at $120, and when it went on sale, it was up for $150. Been that way ever since. $150 is a little too ridiculous.
This bothered me as well. They've made such a pretty world, and then they add something to it that makes what you're actually focusing on look like a bad photoshop cut and paste. It didn't work in Rift, and it doesn't work in the videos I've seen.Uzique wrote:

How does it remove any incentive to create good games? You present your game to your investors, be they established publishers or random people who fund your kickstarter project. If they like what they see, you get the money, and if they don't, then you're out of luck. If you build a successful game, you'll be able to make another one. If you build a terrible game, people won't want to fund you again.Macbeth wrote:
