Do you anything that would really benefit from a hex-core? if not I'd say go Z77 and save some $$$. That said you likely won't get 5 Ghz (temps are the big hold back for most due to Intel not using solder for the IHS on Ivy) from Ivy but you will still be able to get high 4's which will beat a 5Ghz Sandy chip

I will definitely have mine for a long time. I paid $130 for this and a Unicomp (basically a new IBM Model M they bought the patent rights) which retails for $80 so I think I got a pretty good deal (they were review samples from another site and the guy just happens to be local to me.)Brasso wrote:

I look at it this way, would they correct the problem on their own if they overcharge me, probably not. If they caught the error on that shipment and asked me to exchange it I would but I'm not going to on my own accord. Same with my employer, if they over pay me I'm not saying anything because I know if they underpay me they won't fix it on their own.KEN-JENNINGS wrote:

I use a 60 GB Vertex 2 (51~GB formatted) for my OS (Vista 64) and all apps except games. I setup the user folders on my storage drive and just remapped the locations to it. Also I disable hibernation and restore points which save a lot of space. I still have 16 or so GB left on my SSD with Photo Shop, Office, AV, and other odds and ends on it. I have a second drive with all my games on it and a third that has all my media and documents.
It would be a lot cheaper to just make backup clones of the SSD every once in a while than to go with RAID 1 on an SSD.twoblacklines wrote:

To keep everything cloning is the only option. But as Beduin stated you can just copy paste your Steam folder to the new drive ans all you may have to do is verify the games, no downloading needed.
You can change the location of the user folders by going into the folder properties. They will still function the same just on your mechanical drive so no need to move the stuff around when it gets too big, plus it's all still there if you need to do a reformat.unnamednewbie13 wrote:

True but that is no where near a "normal" traffic stop I've ever been involved in (and I've had more than my fair share). I've seen many cops that seem assholeish but some of that comes with the job (mom works for the OHP and I've met many many officers that aren't all that bad as long as you aren't being stopped by them) and if you don't egg them on and are calm with them like this driver was they tend to simmer down.RTHKI wrote:

Yeah putting all of America in that category is wrong. Yeah there are very large suburban areas but there are even larger open areas with fields and houses that are spread out with fields and cows and gardens ect. The last place I would ever live is in a suburban development. I'm not a big fan of where I'm at now as I grew up in the country and living in town (a small town even about 2,000 people) sucks.Blue Herring wrote:

I'd have a nice probably water cooled gaming pc (won't go into exact specs as it always changes) with the best overclocker's choice CPU (the best available is almost always a waste even if you are rich) with 2-3 top end single GPU's (not a fan of dual GPU PCB's) a good sized SSD for games and apps, no storage on main pc.
Then I'd have a nice rack setup with a server for data storage, a firewall server, and a surveillance server for my camera's.
Then a decent powered HTPC for movies and still capable of decent gaming for when I feel like it.
Then in my man cave I'd have a benching setup with any and all hardware I can get my hands on and the equipment to run LN2 on everything.

I don't go that far back but far enough back that file management was a necessity as storage space was pretty expensive (relative to the time period) and I love the fact that I no longer have to deal with that. Occasionally over the last 4-5 years I've run into times where my needs out weighed my storage, but a quick upgrade (usually $100 or less, only drive I paid more for was my 74 gig raptor that I later traded for a 320 gig drive) does me good for a couple years usually. I did have to go through some steps to get my SSD set up right and save some space but it has everything but my games on it and is less than half full with just over 51GB formatted space.burnzz wrote:
i feel for you people, that never spent $250 on a eighty megabyte hard drive . . . i've learned file management, where you guys just run off and buy more storage . . .
I would just look at other drives, the only way to truly tell is by either the formatted space or I think OCZ released a tool to check, you can't tell my model number.
I'm not sure what to change it to but I'd stay away from the Vertex2. OCZ did some sneaky move and the newer drives which use 25nm Nand don't perform the same as the older 34nm drives yet they didn't change the specs or name. (I bought a 60GB right before I learned of this). The 25nm also losed more space to over provisioning and has lower writes available.
There is also life without the possibility of parole so the multiple life sentences is still pointless except maybe for some bragging rights in the pen.UnkleRukus wrote:
Pretty sure if you serve consecutive life sentences you would never be able to get out. You may be able to go to a parole board for one sentence but the others would hold you back.Hurricane2k9 wrote:
Well after sentencing, you can take your case to appeals. First you go to the state appeals court, then to a US appeals court, and then (if it's deemed worthy of going being considered) to the Supreme Court. A fair amount of cases make it past US appeals, but very few actually end up at the supreme court. So if you appeal and the decision gets overturned, you'll get out before you die. I'm guessing that's how most life w/o parole sentences end up letting people out before their time.FatherTed wrote:

They also usually allow for parole. In other words, you have a life sentence, but you can go before the parole board. If you're deemed fit to re-enter society then you're out, otherwise it's back in the clink.
What I don't understand is the concept of giving someone multiple life sentences.
I believe from what I've seen before the part that raises the cost so much is the legal costs. It costs more to try a capital case and they are required to go through so many appeals (literally required by law, I read a story of a guy who admitted his crime and wanted to die but was forced to go through his appeals process) before they can be put to death. Also they are still in prison for quite a while during all this.d4rkst4r wrote:

The point of hollow points isn't the lack of range, it's the lack of distance they go after hitting an object. They stop (or severely slow down) after hitting objects such as people and walls making them a good home defense round.Dilbert_X wrote:

Shoot hollow points. Plus, a .22 i not exactly the optimal home defense round
.22lr is a very low powered cartridge and has a lethal range measured in miles, .45 is many times more dangerous.

No if the total RAM allocation is less than 4 GB windows will show the full amount of RAM you have installed. If it tops 4 GB (the 32 bit limit) it will show what's leftover after everything else is taken into account. So if you had say 2GB of RAM and a 2 GB GPU you'd still lose some system RAM.Magna-Mike wrote:
So if what you first said above is true, than if I only had 2 gigs installed, wouldn't windows not show the amount it is using, thus displaying something like 1.5, or 1 on system properties? It's not a "problem" it's a limitation. they probably got tired of people who don't know anything calling in and complaining because they bought 4 GB of RAM for a 32bit OS and are mad it's not there which isn't Microsoft's fault, it's the people who make uniformed purchases fault.Stubbee wrote:
