Uncap Bases? That was special about Tampa, a jet map without Uncaps, learn to defend! It's a shame they changed it.
Tweaks? I only noticed the two extra helipads at the controlpoint flags are gone but they've been useless anyway.

It's not Highway Tampa AFAIK... I recently installed BF2 again, and haven't installed Tampa yet. I'm still getting stats problems. Besides, how could the installation of a new map disturb the communication between gaming servers to the EA stats servers?
Second one I'd be hesitant to label as real... The picture on the lower half can be found on Wikipedia. Then again, it might just be co-incidence...
Whenever I'm chinese on Wake I'll go and snipe on the carrier. Bring a support guy with you = unlimited claymores, so unless they finally start getting their act together and start nading you, you're set.
I'm not totally against it, but if its on a map like Jalalabad and there are tanks rolling into the uncap, people stealing your tanks, and making it impossible to get out, then that's annoying.

They have let their customers know via their message boards on easports.com. Naturally they're not going to post immediately with something like "OMFG KK UR ALL TELLIN US UR STATS R NOT UPDATIN WE'LL C WATZ WRONG M8!!11!!!!!1 (Y) (Y) (Y)". They don't know why the stats are mucking up yet. If they did, we'd know why, and they'd be fixing it.mr. LuxusLexus wrote:
It bothers me that EA can`t seem to understand the importance of communicating with their customers.
Each time the stats servers crash the panic break out and people start new treads like crazy - which is completely understandable, so much of this game is tied in with specific IAR requirements and time spent playing to obtain certain medals and ribbons.
The thought of spending tens of hours playing your best and not receiving the medals, ribbons and ranks you have worked hard for turns people off.
yes it`s legit to ask if the stats really matters and if they actually takes some of the fun out of the game. But that`s another discussion.
The following statements were released on the EA boards:
oldbfmod (forum.easports.com) wrote:
I was just in a short chat with an EA rep., and this is what they said.
"Yes it does look like there is an unusual delay. I'm trying to verify if there is a known delay (i.e. how long this is going to go on). I'm not sure if I'll get a reply before monday though, but it is something that support noticed today and we are checking on it."
In other words, they're aware of it, but the downside, it might continue over the weekend.
So basically, they're aware of the problem, but they can't fix it because dev teams don't work on weekends.AgentSmith (forum.easports.com) wrote:
EA is lightly staffed over the weekend, so even though the stats problem has been noticed, it will not be addressed until the dev team returns to work on Monday.

The top character, VectraChris, plays more than twenty three hours a day. Is that possible?! I'm checking his stats at the moment, and he's offline at the moment... Either co-incidence that he's using his .8 or so of an hour offline, or the stats have got it wrong. Which is more likely?

Yep, I mounted it to virtual drive and it worked!

Spec Ops do show on scans regardless of whether they're moving or not, this was proven awhile back - search around.
Thanks Fateless, that's a really good idea I'm going to leave it now; will get up tomorrow and fiddle with it. At like nearly 12am AU time I'll most likely fuck something up, considering I've been on the go since 5am
Disc is in perfect condition AFAIK; it's only been out of the box once when I installed it in January, worked fine then...
I decided to do a clean install of BF2 because it's been glitching around for a week or so with sound, so I wanted to see whether re-installing would help.
After uninstalling, I tried to run the installer of BF2 Deluxe. Got to the fourth disc, and got the following error:
"Battlefield 2 unable to install. Please go to the beginning and try again."
I followed liquidat0r's uninstall guide to the letter, including restarting computer, and tried again. Same thing occured.
Does anyone know what is going on? I'm considering reformatting as a last resort (I really don't want to back everything up onto 700MB CDs >_>), so if you have any ideas, let me know!
Thanks in advance

Even if a patch is going to be released for BF2, I don't think EA care that much about it anymore, considering with their new partnership deal with Apple, BF2 wasn't on the list of games that would have an OS X build created. BF2142 was, however >_>

This isn't staged at all; all the Chasers' skits are real. Although they probably asked a lot more people than the few that were shown.
Most of you won't be able to download Chaser eps; they've restricted it to Australian IPs only. YouTube has a stack of clips though.

So I load BF2 today, and was absolutely shocked to find they've done an update. They've created a 'Player Profile' page, where soldiers can search their name and retrieve their stats. I find them severely lacking compared to BF2s.com, but some may prefer.

.5 is the stupidest idea I've ever heard. I think all you Karkand I/O whores should see the game from other perspectives. Your basing a majority of all these suggestions from this situation, when there are like a dozen other maps that the game is designed for also, where the current point system works fine. If we're going reality, then maybe medics shouldn't be able to heal themselves. But support can resupply fine IRL, so it should be able to resupply itself.
Keep the current point system.
Keep the current point system.
Agreed.
103 MEC Jalalabad. I know, nothing to be proud of
SVD is good for close quarters sniping, because you don't need to reload after each shot. For long distance sniping, probably go with one of the others.
Can't find this dudes stats, so I'll go iPwnerrrr:

Happens to me all the time. When your net is shaped, it has a nasty habit of completely cutting out for a few seconds (well, at least it happens to me). Your packets obviously can't get to and from the server, so you get kicked for packet loss.
G36C for the win.
Agreed.Seaneroo wrote:

I disagree. Better to steal the guy's armor. Not only is it a more effective tactic, it is totally humiliating for the person whose ride you just stole.
Also, when you're taking out the commander's assets, I often lay low for a bit, until he deploys the supply drop. Assuming you haven't wasted your remaining C4 after taking out both assets, you can C4 the supply crate, rendering the commander one annoyed guy.
I don't consider it an exploit. If you're talking about some of the videos out there that allow you to get inside buildings with FF off, then definitely. Apart from that, I think it's fine.
If I'm 50+ roundwise, and it was a blatant TK, they're gone.
Depends what you're squad leader is like imo. If he's some arrogant idiot who doesn't take the advice of his team members and runs to the battle of like half the players on the map, along with tanks to boot, then it isn't much fun. If you're actually doing something fun like taking flags and killing any squads who try to stop you, then it's cool.Lt.Smurf wrote:

After what people say, I definitely think I'll have to try an IO Karkand, or at the very least a 64 player map with 24/32 players playing.
Ok, we've established I spelt it wrong. I can't change the thread title with the edit function. We've built that bridge back up, and we've moved on.
Personally I think I saw more tanks on Karkand than I ever do on Jala. Even if there appear to be more on Karkand, it's a whole lot easier to escape them in DPVs than it is on Karkand.

Lol whoops! Shows how much I know about the map
I've heard people say there are a lot of medics, and there are... But boy there were a lot of snipers too...
So I'm bored of Jalalabad, so I decide to play some Karkand for a bit. When I joined the server I noticed it was pretty much full (60 people or something). I thought that'd just mean there'd be a lot more infantry battle. Boy was I wrong. It's like 60% snipers, 40% medics, and there's no chance to do any actual infantry battle, because as soon as you get away from the shadows of a building, you get pulverized by a Tank or APC. You get owned by some sniper, a medic revives you, you get owned again, another medic revives you both, then all three get owned. It's ridiculous! I can't see why people love it, to be honest. All the people in the top ten rankings have like 3000 hours on Karkand. In my opinion, Jala is a lot better because there are not nearly the amount of tanks/APCs there are on Karkand, and when you start, you don't have to go into a huge scrum of tanks and the like if you're on USMC, as you can cut straight through Lake and get the northern flags like Market, Hotel and Mosque. If you're USMC on Karkand, you can't actually cut through past Hotel unless you're on foot, and then it's only a matter of time before a sniper owns you.

Lol Fushee would suck as IO.
I would actually enjoy Wake again if I found an IO server of it. Nothing worse than being Chinese, all other flags capped except for North Base and being raped by about four jets, with 30 snipers camping around the spawn point.

I play with the same group of friends, and we're pretty much the only squad actually who actually does anything. Our favourite map is Jalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalabad, so a lot of the time we'll drive around in DPVs or FAVs and see what's happening. If a flag goes down, we'll normally be the first squad there, and keep it from being capped.

We played with Hamachi on a virtual LAN with about five people. It was so laggy. Apart from the person hosting it, we all had pings of about 400.
To start any sort of Battlefield server, whether it's a mod or not, (I don't know how BF2 works in comparison to other games) you need to buy or rent a server of your own, then install the Battlefield server software onto it. You can't really get a server for free, even if it's just for mods.
Wow, I'm amazed that I've got two replies in like five minutes. Thank you both so much!
If there are noticeable differences, maybe I will just get a 1GB stick for the time being. Another question, I'm assuming that once you buy one RAM chip, when you want another you have to get it the same brand as the one you've already got. Is this true?
Also, if I'm going to buy completely new RAM, what are some brands that anyone can recommend as being good? I'm looking at the list here, and it looks like for what you're getting, Apacher (current RAM brand) is a lot cheaper than the others (these are in AU dollars).

Ok, first of all, please don't flame me. I'm assuming that a topic like this gets posted once every twenty seconds in this forum, but I'm genuinely confused with this issue.
I'm running 2x256MB Apacher DDR SRDAM chips (yep, I know it's rather sad), and I've decided I need to upgrade my RAM. I was looking in my specs, and the Memory Speed of both the chips is PC3200 (200Mhz). Thing is, I've been cruising the internet, and I don't think I've seen chips around now with a speed of 200Mhz; they all seem to be 400Mhz. Is this going to be a problem when I buy more RAM?
Also, I was reading something on latency in a stickied thread, and how having chips of different sizes slows you a fair deal. I was thinking of getting a 1GB chip, but considering I'm running 256MB chips, is this going to cause any major problems? I'm not some quality freak who has to have like the most perfect system in the entire world running in their room, the only reason I'm upgrading my RAM is that servers are a little laggy when I join them, Verifying Client Data takes like two minutes and there are errors in the game which I think could be solved by upgrading my RAM.
So in conclusion, my questions are (note that this is assuming I keep my 256MB chips - BF2 runs ok on my system, and I'm not going to shell out hundreds on completely replacing my RAM):
a) Do I have to get a RAM chip that runs 200Mhz speed, or if I buy one with say, 400Mhz, will it work ok?
b) Because I'm running 256MB chips, if I go and buy a 1GB chip, will it cause latency problems that will really slow me down noticeably.
It's been something that has been irking me for some time, so I'd love some insight into this issue

I'm running BF2 on 512MB RAM with a Geforce 6200 256MB card. I don't run anything other than xfire when I go on (close all other processes). Servers are a little laggy when you join them, but apart from that, it works ok. I'm looking into getting another gig of RAM though, as it does take a little longer to join a server (verifying client data bit) with a low RAM.
I don't think I've played either for more than five minutes, but Songhua is sounding a whole lot cooler. The idea that snipers are hiding around in the jungle sounds like there's a lot of stealth involved, and unless your playing Wake, any map with jets sucks.
The TVing was good, and so was some of the jetting. Cut the rest of the crap out, like flying under bridges with the J-10 (seriously, it's not really something that you should be really proud of - most people can do it). I'm pleased I downloaded the movie in my Off-Peak quota...

When I first started, I remember playing with the sniper kit, on Jalalalalalalalalabad (I was USMC). I thought Claymores wouldn't go off if it was a team-mate walking over them, so put about five or six (I had the help of some support guy) along the entrance to staging area, hoping to own any enemies that went through. Sadly, for me, two full buggys drove through the entrance on their way to Outpost. Big boom, six TKs and a whole lot of abuse over text chat later, I still remember it well.
Then about two weeks ago, I was playing some Wake (USMC). It was a completely full server, so the deck of the carrier was full of jet whores. My friend was like to me, "Wouldn't it be funny if you just threw a 'nade down here." Me being the idiot I am did just that. Biggest collective yell of MEDIC I've ever heard. Good part about it, was with about 10 or 12 punishes, I wasn't around on the server long enough to get abused (thanks PB!)
I'll try the clearing the cache, and deleting the BF2 folder from My Documents later today when I go on.

Ok, first of all, this has nothing to do with the recent EA account spurt.
For at least a couple of months now, whenever I load BF2 and try to load a server the first time, it will load, I'll click Join Game, then it will take ages, load one frame of the map, then I'll get chucked out with the message "Your connection to the server has been lost." If I try to load the server again, it will work absolutely fine, and won't appear again until the next time I load BF2.
Anybody know what's going on? Although it isn't that time consuming, it frustrates me a great deal...

Hi,
Following on from http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?id=25085, I want to set my BF2 to log in for me automatically. However, when I go to the .EXE file (C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe), right click and select Properties, I can't see the target field anywhere. Anybody know where this might be?
Thanks in advance
