In the 8 years I've been gaming, in light rooms and dark rooms, with bright CRTs and LCD displays on 60Hz and 100Hz, I've never had a problem with eye fatigue.

I want to get myself a nice mechanical keyboard for Christmas but I cannot make a decision on which switch type to get. I tried visiting numerous computer retailers but the only place that had a mechanical keyboard in stock had a SIIG board with White Alps switches which I heard are susceptible to dirt and dust. Does anyone have a mechanical keyboard and could help shed some light on to which type of switches I should be looking for? I'll be using my keyboard for gaming and typing equally. My budget is ~$100.
Couldn't agree more. I've stopping going to the weeklys here in my state because of this. They atmosphere went from cool, bassy, danceable music to agressive 110% madness for the entire night. Dubstep became somewhat of a type of "metal" and it's not the sound I fell in love with. Not only that but most of it is built the same and sounds the same. It's always build, drop, repeat, build, drop, repeat for the entire night. No one focuses on atmospherics, dynamics, minimalism, swing, structure or anything else for that matter.Uzique wrote:

Yeah it's a good album but honestly I was expecting more stuff like Shikra or The Chase. I like those faster, syncopated rhythms.Uzique wrote:

and so did Pinch & Shackleton's.
And some dnb just for kicks. Love the weird harmonics thing going on in the bass.

Traktor keeps rewriting the date in the ID3 tags of all my music. I don't want to make all my music files read-only as I sometimes update or change the ID3 tags with foobar2000. Is there a way in windows 7 to prevent traktor from modifying my files?
I'm going to be traveling to Croatia for the Outlook Festival first week in September. It's my first time going out of country and I have everything sorted out except for my phone. I have Sprint and my phone will not work over there. I don't want to buy one of Sprint's international phones since I really don't do any travelling. What are my options here?
Awesome, I will give this a shot thanks!Finray wrote:

So I'd like a little bit more control over my GPU's clock and fan speeds. RivaTuner used to be the go to program but it hasn't been updated in 2 years. I remember hearing about nTune being horrible but it looks like the only option I have right now. Is there anything else I can use?

I had this headset. It's super comfy, has great sound, plenty of bass, good mic, but it's all plastic and it's broken in two places after three years of use. I'm in the market for a new headset, something a little more robust. Here's what I'm looking for:
Price <$80
Comfortable, durable, over-ear.
Excellent sound quality, good bass a plus.
Needs a long cord, at least six feet.
Needs a good mic.
Inline volume control would be awesome, but it's not a necessity.
3.5mm jack, not USB.
Any recommendations? I was eying the Icemat Siberia headset but I think they've been discontinued.

So I have this belkin fm transmitter for my ipod but it's real shitty. I have to wave it around my car until I find a good spot where it can sit with no static. Any recommendations for transmitters that can produce a solid, strong signal?
Well yeah that's what I did, uninstalled drivers, reboot, unplug mouse, logon, plugin, auto-drivers. It was still slow. I found SetPoint 6.0 which works for my mouse and I have the speed doubled by two but it still feels a little off. I guess I'll manage with it now if on one has any other input.
This was a fresh install. Logitech offers no drivers for my mouse. It didn't come with setpoint, it came with MouseWare but I never installed it when I was using XP. It won't install with windows7. I unplugged, restarted, replugged but nothing has changed.
My mouse speed seems to have halved since moving to windows 7. In XP, I disabled all mouse acceleration through the registry and the mouse control panel so my mouse movements were a perfect 1:1. I installed Win7, and my mouse felt half as slow. Upping the speed and removing precision didn't help as it made the cursor feel very jittery. I removed mouse accel throug the registry, too, but it didn't do anything. It feels like someone switched my mouse to 400dpi from 800dpi, but you can't do that with this mouse. Any ideas aside from getting a new one?

I'm directly above my router by one story. Connection speed and signal strength are usually perfect. No router settings have been changed and I haven't done anything to my computer. I just happened to mouse over it one day and it said 1.0 Mbps.

When I mouse over my Linksys wireless tray icon, it says LINK SPEED 1.0 Mbps instead of 11.0 Mbps as it normally did. When I open up the networking tab in task manager it also reports a link speed of 1.0 Mbps. When I do a speed test though, my download speed averages 8.0 Mbps. What's going on here?

My dad's a professional electrical engineer, I'm sure he has some meter that can read the output of a powersupply. I think I'm gonna try this and see if everything shows up.
No I don't.
Well what if my power supply is failing or broken or something and it's to blame for the freezing instead of my video card?
I was thinking just before I ordered, how can I be certain it's my card that's failing and not my power supply not giving it enough juice?
I hate this song. My first name is Alejandro. I hate this song.
I need a new video card, my 9800GT keeps freezing. It rarely freezes in call of duty or quake III, but freezes every few minutes in Heroes of Newerth, All Points Bulletin, and other more intense games. I'm not looking to upgrade too much, just replace. So far I've narrowed it down to these three choices:
MSI 250 GTS 1GB
PNY GTS 250 1GB
XFX Radeon HD 4770
Anyone have any recommendations or opinions on these cards? My budget is ~$130 USD. My case and room get pretty warm which could be why my card failed, so my new card should be able to handle the temps.

Gigabyte P35-DS3L

Lol, old topic but I might as well post. Uniball Jetstream 0.7mm is the finest writing instrument I've used. Ink flows very smoothly, lines are always solid and never patchy. Not even that expensive.

I love calvin and hobbes because each strip, usually, was part of a bigger story. That and they were nicely drawn and almost always funny. My favorite part is calvin's unusually large vocabulary.
Take a look at garfield today, it's the same panel copied and pasted three times with bland, unfunny dialogue.

thats website just confused the fuck out of me. sure it told me the time period of when everything came, but when you play a dance/house/techno/trance song all right next to each other, how would someone decide, first ones dance, second was house, three techno, and fourth was trance.
i dont see the specific characteristics each one has.
Dance isn't really a genre.
House can vary from 120-135 bpm, usually pretty light sounding, friendly. Think hip downtown club.
Techno is faster, 135-150 bpm, more mechanical, built on loops.
Trance is also 140-150 bpm, very hypnotic, very evolving, trance inducing (duh).
These are very broad descriptions and not all songs fit into them. House tends to have more complex beats, the drums almost breathe up and down. Techno and trance are more 4x4 kick-hihat-clap/snare-hihat repeat.
Yeah I've email craigslist about this and replied to the page on hubpages. What else should I do?
I browsed craigslist and found this pretty cool job posting.
http://austin.craigslist.org/hum/1712279189.html
I emailed my resume over and they gave me a site where I was supposed to pick my interview time.
http://www.allindustrystaffing.com/register.php
This is where things started to get iffy. I googled Recruting Experts and couldn't find any link back to that page. I registered anyway, what was the worst that could happen? They emailed me back within a day or two with another site to visit where I would pick my interview time:
http://www.YourDirectLogin.com
The interview was this big chatroom type deal, one of the interviewers was on a webcam going over how the buisness works. He said they have many companies who come to them looking to fill jobs. It was up to us, the recruiters, to find appropriate people to fill these jobs. After successfully filling those jobs, we'd earn compensation. Anywhere from $2,000-12,000 per job, working from home. They opened up the chat log for the interviewees (about 200 of us) to ask questions. It was full of people asking basic questions in broken english, poor grammer, or all caps. Every few minutes someone with a fancy sounding name would post a very well-worded testimonial, about how they started making 4k a month, etc. It would start off "I used to be a...making this much a year, then I found this site...making tons more a year...etc." More fishy stuff.
At the end of the little presentation, those interested in the 25 open positions were required to pay a $300 "Association Fee" to secure their job. This fee was guaranteed to be reimbursed by your first paycheck. That's when I started googling. I began to find various scam reports about this company, many about "Recruiting Business, LLC" which I learned was the full name of the company. http://hubpages.com/hub/Craigslist-Jobs-Scam
I started asking more questions like if they had any testimonials from clients, why the fee was required if it was guaranteed to be reimbursed, and if they had any responses to these scam reports. They stopped making my chat public and started dodging my questions privately. I saw most of the open jobs being filled up to people who I could tell were being taken advantage of. I tried making my voice and my findings public but they kept blocking my chat. They eventually kicked me off the server. I felt proud that I had beaten this company by myself but disappointed at the same time that I could tell the others. So I'm just posting to make everyone more aware, do your research and ask your questions!

Cod 1. Health, recoil, required actual skill to be good.
I took each key off mine and cleaned it with a bit of rubbing alcohol. I also took the faceplate (I guess you'd call it) of my keyboard and ran it through the dishwasher since it was just plastic. Came out looking brand new.

Yeah I pryed each key off with a small screwdriver and cleaned them with a bit of rubbing alcohol. I disassembled the rest of the keyboard and threw the top part (without the electronics) in the dishwasher. It was very dirty, but came out looking brand new. They keys are all uniform and actually depress 100%!
