In order to get something even remotely equivalent space-wise (with a commute twice as long) I'll have to spend at least $400k minimum, which comes out to ~$1800 a month. Plus property tax. Plus homeowner's insurance. Plus time spent landscaping. Plus money spent doing maintenance and upgrades. Owning generally sucks a big fat one and is completely pointless unless you have kids.
Also your rent will continue to rise with inflation, your repayments wont and in real terms will go down, and your asset will continue to appreciate
Your minimum monthly mortgage payment on a $600k, 30 year loan at 5%, is $3220.93.

I joined a clusterfuck of a TDM game and got my EOD kill that way. Took like 5 minutes, but I reckon I got lucky and came up behind an enemy.
The MTAR is pretty cool, shoots very fast, sometimes I surprise myself by getting kills where I thought my recoil went through the roof and I missed every shot. Also, it's very accurate hipfire even with no attachments. I'd argue you don't even have to ADS for medium range with a laser/foregrip

dude I don't even fly (because I'm terrible at it) but you can't deny that it takes more skill than infantry. Maybe not high level teamplay shit, but then the same high level teamplay shit can be done with a helicopter too so that's a moot point.-Sh1fty- wrote:
Takes still to play in this game too. You aim and hold the trigger down in EVERY damn FPS game on earth. Some people like to hold the trigger down longer than others. That's doesn't make it a shitty game. I expect to hit my target at least once or twice when I send 30 rounds at him from the hip. You can kill people easier with a short accurate burst though.FatherTed wrote:

That kind of statement is all over the internet about every single FPS game, and I'm f#@king sick and tiered of hearing it. Mainly because it's bulls#@t. In every single game you have to "AIM AT TEH ENEMI AN HOLD DAH TRIGGAH" since that's the f#@king point of an FPS game, you aim and shoot. Every aspect of every game is complained about but I think this whole "spray and pray" is what pisses me off the most. What - do you want ever single bullet in the magazine be required to kill somebody so you can't just aim within a few inches and hold the trigger down?
Name one FPS game with automatic weapons where you don't aim in the general direction and spray.
What I'm annoyed by is people complaining about spraying and praying. If that's their style let 'em be and enjoy the easy kill.
I don't DISLIKE the way shooting is in this game, and I have no idea what it's like to actually fire a fully automatic weapon, but it's NOT hard to shoot people in BF3. All I'm saying is that it takes more ABILITY to fly a helicopter than it does to play infantry. But I may be mistaken, because I have almost zero experience in helis and like 15 years of PC FPS gaming

Air vehicles have a perfect counter: other air vehicles. Air superiority wins wars why shouldnt it win in BF3?
Takes a lot more skillz to fly the Jet than it does to hold down the trigger in someone's general direction (which is pretty much how you kill people in this game)

Whatever the case was before, all silenced guns should not reveal you on radar now
That being said, I'm torn between laser dot and silencer for my favorite 3rd attachment. I almost enjoy using the UMP because I can have both. I don't like to rely on hip firing but when storming a room (I play Rush almost exclusively) it's great to have the choice

A police officer was shot at Virginia Tech on Thursday morning and campus officials warned everyone to seek shelter.
"We don’t know if the suspect fled or the extent of the injuries to the suspect or to the officer," NBC News’ Pete Williams told MSNBC TV.
"This was a traffic stop on campus," Williams said. "It was not someone walking around firing shots."
Yeah I have used almost all of them and they all seem to support the fact that if you're a half decent shot you'll do fine with any of the guns. Which is fine, because you shouldn't have to use one gun or another.
I'd disagree.Towelly wrote:

Protips for Infantry:
1) Dont use the IRNV. It will make you a worse rather than better, because you won't be able to spot anything that isn't bright orange.
2) Headshots are the fastest way to kill someone with any gun. Aim high.
3) Keep your crosshairs up at all times, don't look at the ground -- ever.
4) This is battlefield not CS or CoD or whatever; meaning you should always have a medpack or ammobox by your teammates, revive them if you think you'll survive trying, as engineer try to repair things when you get a chance, try to blow up vehicles with the rpg, etc etc. Use all your tools effectively not just the gun.
5) Try out different guns. Try to get "X" kills with all the guns in your favorite class (you decide on X, be it 50 or 100 or 200) before you decide on a favorite
6) If you use a laser or flashlight, know the button that turns it on and off, and only turn it on when you think you should use it. They both give away your position.
7) SPOT! SPOT! SPOT! SPOT!!! That's the "Q" button, btw. If you don't kill it, it better be spotted. Or you fail.
8) Tweak your mouse sensitivity to your liking don't just accept the default.
9) Use cover when being shot at, reloading, re-arming an RPG/SMAW/etc. If there is no cover, at least go prone. A smaller target is harder to hit.
10) Always aim to stay alive. Don't just say "fuck it" and charge in or let a tank kill your or whatever. Always make the enemy work to get points from you.
11) Aim down the sights as much as you possibly can. Hip firing may work, but it's a crutch and you're not going to get any better that way.
12) You are more accurate when not moving, crouching, and proneing.

M39 is fucking INSANE on hardcore. Had my best round getting 75 kills on an operation metro round. Felt like cheating though, too easy? 2 shot kill, very accurate, decent clip....
Yeah, the other semi-auto's are great as well especially in hardcore, but I felt like the M39 has better accuracy.
On the other hand, in normal mode I felt like it would take me 2 headshots to kill someone.... weird.

Yes, education has become very boring (for lack of a better word) and too much about comparing dick sizes over test scores with other countries.
But it's a good thing that young people are exposed to many different subjects. I think that the liberal arts (and, for LA students, science) requirement at college is a very good one.
Analyzing Hamlet may not make you a better programmer but it does make you more than just some idiot who understands a computer language. And there are valuable little nuggets for you to digest about life in all sorts of literature.
And learning how physics works may not make you a better Analyzer of Hamlet, but at least you're not just some idiot who can read between the lines of the classics.
I can go on making these kind of statements about all the subjects my school required me to take, but they are all saying the same thing: Going to college is not just about getting a degree so that you can mark off a box on the checklist for employment. It's about becoming a more worldly and educated person.
Otherwise smart people who have no culture beyond the latest celebrity gossip and hot music videos are becoming all too common. I think it's because they have a "why do I need this bullshit" attitude about their liberal arts classes and so they just Google/cut+paste their way through them. Great, they fooled their teachers...or did they fool themselves?

So does having your gun and looking down the sights.... Kills aren't very difficult to get in this game, and I find that the sway changes the way that shots register. Your shots are only "honored" if you're holding your breath. I've noticed this a lot with snipers because I don't feel the need to hold my breath but at the same time, I rarely actually make the shot when I have the X-Hair lined up but I'm not holding my breath.UnkleRukus wrote:

Hi All
I recently unlocked the smoke grenades for the n00b tube and I must say, they have more or less completely replaced any other under barrel attachment for me.
They provide some very thick cover that the IRNV scopes can't even see through and you get 4 or 5 of them to start. More than enough to lay down a wall of smoke to cover a bomb plant on Rush, for example.
Hope to get some kind of discussion going about the smoke grenades, share some tactics, etc.
Anyone else use these bad boys?

They certainly make the game a lot easier based on the amount of people that top the scoreboards using the IRNV, and based on the 2-3 experiences I had picking it up, HOWEVER, I do perfectly fine without it. If you can spot enemies "normally" (and it's not that difficult based on the way sometimes you see healthbars, orange names, and dots on the radar if they've been spotted) then the other sights are just as good.
And I don't know about the really late level unlocks, but the first 2-3 new guns you get for each class aren't that much better than the defaults. I love the M16A3 and the M4A1, same with the AK74 and the AK74u.
In fact, unless it's changed since the beta, I think the M416 sucks compared to the other assault rifles.
A little off topic: I don't know if the game got a lot easier since BF2 OR if hit registry just actually works. I can remember being upset because of shots that don't register like 75% of my games. Now with most guns I can shoot a burst or two at someone and they'll go down no questions asked... But I just think that makes it more fun because the other guy has the same opportunity to shoot you as well.
