Yeah, seems to be the same problem. Nice idea trying BF2 offline to count network lag out. I believe I've also got a 1.41 version of BF2 lying around on the HD, so i'll do both these tests when I get home. Something just tells me that it's 1.5, not something i've got thats broken though.leetnagger wrote:
1.41 run alongside does not suffer from this. Nor does any other game. It is bf2 specific problem, I'm gonna try some new(er) drivers, even though my software is up to date always.
If you're desperate to get a site sorted ASAP, you might want to look at something like Wordpress.
If not, get on http://w3schools.com and start learning basic HTML
If you want www.myname.com, you'll need to register a domain first. A site such as godaddy.com, or 123-reg.co.uk will help you out there. Next, now you've got the name, you need some disk space to host your website- hostmonster is a great starter; very cheap as well. You'll need to edit your DNS settings to point your domain to your web space, but there are thousands of tutorials on how to do this. Thats you all set. Upload some content to your new website, and its all done.

I'm guessing my issue is also relevant to this?
(I have the same issue on multiple PC's, one wireless, the other cable- which played the game up until 1.5 without any issues. New machine is Intel Core 2 Duo P7350, 4 GB RAM, ATI Radeon HD 4750. It's only the mouse that lags- and as per my topic, tried multiple mice as well.)
(Not trying to jump into topic... trying to provide details that prehaps others with the same issue can compare with)

Tried with and without. The fact that it worked fine with 1.41, then broke with 1.5 makes me think it isn't h/w
Hey,
After getting back into BF2, EA released 1.5...... woooooo.. good timing it seemed.
Or not.
My mouse spazzes constantly. I mean... I move left, it moves half left, I aim up, it slowly slides up. I rotate left, half a second later, I spin up and to the left. Its completely random, doesnt happen all the time, but occurs constantly.
I've just got a new laptop, installed BF2, patched, same mouse-> same issue. The mouse is a Logitech MX Revolution. Drivers installed. It is not graphical lag. Keyboard input does't cause anything similar. Its only in BF2. Different mouse still causes the same issue.
I'm stumped.. help pl0x?

I have a VPS which mainly hosts my websites and mail. It used to be a slice over at Slicehost; but they are expensive, so I moved to CheapVPS.
For those not in the know, and care (its a nice read for us technical peeps) VASERV (CheapVPS's parent company) got hacked a few months ago, and at the time everything was a bit of a disaster; but they sorted everything out really quickly and I would still recommend them 100%. Yes it's cheap, and we all know that generally cheap !== good, but I know of no downtime in the last month, and my average ticket response time is < 60 minutes (usually within 10 mins). Anyway, I have backup MX records pointing to Google Apps and don't mind about my personal sites potentially being down for an hour or two.
Chuy: I had a 4 hour experience with Mosso, and it was the worst 4 hours of my life. Took 1 hour to activate my account, service was crap, then you have to manually email a ACCOUNT MANAGER to get your account cancelled... wtf.
Before Slicehost and CheapVPS, I was on shared hosting at Hostmonster. Eugh.
For a new website I'm working on, we need a cloud to guarantee us as much uptime as possible- and we're thinking of using VPS.net (part of the UK2 group).

You should be able to use Firefox Portable to get unrestricted internet, as the normal Proxy settings won't be enforced on FF Portable.
Worked at our school for a bit anyway (then they did some shit which only allowed traffic that had passed through the Proxy, to get outside) (now we just use the Teachers proxy which has less restrictions )

Btw, does anyone know how to have 2 versions of BF2 on your PC? I think I remember seeing it on one of the wikis.
Thanks GuliblGuy
You'll then have C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2 and C:\Program Files\EA Games\Copy of Battlefield 2
Then install the patch.
You will then have C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2 which is patched to 1.5
and
C:\Program Files\EA Games\Copy of Battlefield 2 still @ 1.41
When you want to play 1.41 again, rename "Battlefield 2" to something else (BF2_1.5?), and Copy of Battlefield 2 to Battlefield 2
Alternate as required...

Make sure you restart your computer after making the changes....
Do this with all your Firewalls and Antivirus' turned off- just in case.
If another PC connected to BF2 fine, then it's something "wrong" with your computer....
What Antivirus/ Firewall software are you running?
It's a long shot; but have you tried manually reinstalling BF2?

Are you running Battlefield 2 with adminitrator priviledges? (Right click on the Battlefield shortcut you use, select properties, click compatability, check "Run with Adminitrator Priviledges"). This will almost certainly fix your problem, 100% guaranteed
Are you patched to the latest version (if not, or you don't know what I mean, search for, and download Battlefield 2 1.41 patch; it should be ~500mb).
If none of these fix your problem, manually update Punkbuster by visiting www.evenbalance.com, and downloading and running a file called pbsetup.exe
What operating system are you running?

Check to make sure that the IP configuration of the printer is correct.... I assume your network uses DHCP to hand out IP details, so check the printer supports DHCP. If this isn't the case, then you will have to insert the IP details manually- this gets slightly more complicated, as you will have to adjust the DHCP pool used by the router to exclude the address you assign to prevent an IP conflict, but we'll cross that if we get to it.
If the IP is handed out via DHCP, then bare in mind that the IP of the printer _will_ change- so if it is 192.168.0.10 1 minute, it might be 192.168.0.15 10 minutes later.
Also make sure that the wireless encryption method you are using is supported, and setup on the printer- WEP / WPA etc.
Don't worry about getting the printer drivers and actual printing working first- make sure all the devices can ping each other, or that the printer is visible on the network.

Srsly- its nothing to worry about. Firstly, they are a piece of piss to get setup and running anyway, Secondly, there will be instructions, and there are 1000000000000000000000 guides on the internet to help you out.
Basically, the steps are....
1) Plug the shit in
2) Either do the installation CD, or connect to the router manually (usually by typing either http://192.168.0.1, or http://192.168.1.1 into your browser)
3) Enter your details- ISP connection type/ username/ password.
4) Enjoy Internet
Wireless should work out of the box, but you _will_ need to secure it using a encryption method such as WEP, WPA etc; but this is all done via the lovely web interface of the router, and instructions will be somewhere.
EDIT- A more detailed guide can be found over here. You will also usually find a lot of the important information: IP for the router, default username and password, on the bottom of the router.
