Well Dell XPS's are more expensive (the m1710 series) then the Alienwares I'm looking at - I'm only looking to spend 2k-2.5k, and for a GOOD xps ill be spending over the 2500k mark.  Besides, for one of the cheaper XPS's Im only getting a 12.1" screen as opposed to the 17" widescreen from alienware.  I don't mind waiting that much

I'm not an expert on Christianity - I've never been to Church so forgive me if my citations of biblical works are off.

The order of religions was Judaism, Christianity, and Islam by time of founding (approximately). 

To put it simply, the Jews held power for a long period of time and then disgraced their God Yahweh by their culture degrading into a less pious peoples and becoming more material rather than spiritually oriented.  As punishment for this, their God cast them out of their homeland and they were thus enslaved etc. etc.

During the period where the Jews were under Roman rule (the time of Christ, for arguments sake) Christianity came up from Jesus Christ.  However, Christianity cannot be classified as a way to live a faithful life without unduly challenging the secular power, because the simple creation of Christianity threatened the little power the Jews had over their own people - hence why the Jews turned Jesus over to the Romans.  The Romans executed Jesus not because he was simply a Christian, but because he was becoming (or had the potential to become) a powerful political figure in the area.  Asfor CHristianity not providing a framework for laws and wars, I think that's incorrect.  Doesn't the old testament come before the new testament?  Or is that Jewdaism?  I've never been sure on that one lol.  Either way, the 10 commandments for Christianity imply rules for laws and wars (if you're being commanded not to do something it would be applicable as a law) while the old testament has that old slogan an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth if I'm correct.

Some time later Islam was created (forgive me here, I didn't really ever pay attention in my Comparative Religions classes).  Islam more closely allies with Judaism than Christianity I believe.  The difference between Christianity and Islam is the blood line of the prophets.  I don't know much more about Islam's foundation

That's just my grasp on it, but I'm no theology major - so feel free to fill me in with some information

Any of the sniper rifles besides the Type 88/SVD semi auto sniper rifles should be 1 hit 1 kill in the head or chest.  The .50 from the M95 would kill 1 hit in the chest, the .308 from the L96 would kill 1 hit in the chest.  I dont know about the M24 though.

This isn't a debate about 1 shot 1 kills snipers - if you want a 1 hit kill use the AT rocket.

As for sniping, I find myself playing sniper more that I'm having funw ith it.  The M95 shoots through glass and destroys pesky chopper pilots before they can take off.  Hell, even your pistol is a good weapon against any class if the attacker sucks enough - I find myself killing guys with RPKs and G36C's with my pistol from time to time.

As a sniper, unless I feel that I'm extremely well hidden, then I will move after EVERY shot - unless the person I'm shooting at has yet to see where I am, then I finish them off and move.  My favorite place to snipe is on 32 player karkand when MEC gets backed into the gatehouse - snipers paradise.

I'm selling my desktop at the end of July and I'm researching now what kind of laptop I want to buy.  I'm going to have about 2000-2500 dollars to blow, and am looking into an alienware laptop (pretty much because they're one of the only companies I can find that does "custom" systems and uses good 256 MB cards).  There's a lot of new stuff out on the market, and beyond that I'm not very familiar with laptop stuff anyways - so I thought I'd post a few ?'s here and see if the BF2s community has any info they can share with me.

First off - CPU  AMD 64 vs Intel Duo Core

I heard the AMD 64 bit processors were awesome, but with the new Intel Duo Core CPU's out, I was wondering which of the two might be better?  With the Intel I can supposedly have a CPU devoted to running just battlefield 2 (thoeretically - i know you can't devote one core to one process, but that's the gist of it, right?). 

If I should choose one over the other, what CPU ghz should I go with?  The intel duos start at 1.66 GHz, while the AMD 64's start at 2 I think.  Keep in mind I'm aiming to run BF2 here relatively well

ATI vs. Nvidia

I'm definitely going to be searching for a good video card on this puppy.  I've on the fence about Nvidia vs. ATI, seeing as I've owned one of both, but the Nvidia card was a crappy 128 so I haven't had much comparsion between the two.  My choices are between the Nvidia GO series and the ATI Mobility series - also, I'm going to assume that these don't have dedicated memory seeing as they're "mobile" versions?  I can't seem to find this spec. info on the build sites I'm on.

HDD Speed -

I know with a faster spooling HDD you can get info off it faster, but when I had a 10k RPM raptor in my desktop I didn't notice a difference between that and a 7,200 RPM barracuda.  Is this similar in a laptop, or should I spring for an upgrade from the 5400 RPM to 7200 RPM hdd?

No question on RAM really - I'm settling with 1 gig of 667 mhz ram - I'm pretty sure this should be enough.

Alienware takes a long time to build their laptops and are kind of pricey (yet decent compared to dell's XPS ) so if anyone has any other sites I can check out that would be great

I don't know, I was kinda thinkin' about this today seeing the pics from all the recent hotel glitchers.  I would think that if someones stats were reset for padding or glitching, they would just pad and glitch that much more to try to get back to where they were?

What the person was saying is that being in a vehicle while commanding is agaist the ROE.  They shoulb have been a little more clear on that.

Against ROE?  Please.  So I spend 3 minutes of my 45 minute round as commander fucking around in a humvee - excuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me for having some fun.  Besides, driving around for a few minutes doesn't hinder my commanding capabilities, AND I never said how many people were on the server - had it been 16, (it wasn't but for arguments sake lets say it had) it would not have violated bf2roe.

I don't care if you think infantry only is for noobs, all I know is that a lot of the time in Wars you don't have a tank or APC or even a helo to back you up - especially when you're only an 8 man team.  I.E. I can understand having armor in a 64 player map, because it's supposed to symbolize an entire Army attacking etc., and therefore you would have these things.  But on 16 player maps 1 tank can turn the tide of war.

As for being too lazy to take AT, I can understand how frustrating it is to take the kit and die trying to take out the tank.  My point is just that most of the time the armor can't see everyone who spawns, so if more than 1 or 2 people decide to spawn as AT to take the tank out, they go down pretty fast - but that's usually never the case, as people are more concerned with revive whoring or trying to kill armor with an RPK because they don't feel like switching classes.

Edit - LOL at an anonymous -1 (go back to CS:S u wussie) - for the matter, I've NEVER played CS:S, nor any shitty CS game, nor any half life game for that matter.  The only other online FPS's I've EVER played were Rainbow Six and America's Army - which is why I enjoy my battle games sans armor - it takes skill to do player versus player.

For me, it was veteran transport.  I was commanding a round and letting myt eam pwn for me, and I got pretty bored so I hopped in a humvee and went to see how many people I could run over.  MEC only had the gatehouse left (32 size map) and I was spending my time weaving in and out of HJ-8/tank fire.  I nailed a group of 4 people and then hit another one and got the badge - I've never spent so much time laughing.

281, and I've never been in a KP server.  After I got the expert knife (when it was 18 kills IAR or w/e), I stopped using the knife unless I wanted to humiliate someone.

Oh BTW - the defibrellator is the new knife!  I was once a commander for a round with people who rocked so much they didn't need me, so I spent the round running around as a commander medic shock paddling people to their deaths.  Most fun I've ever had in this game.

I think EA should stop sucking so much ass and get rid of the terrible glitches that plague this game rather than worry about stat padding or spawnraping.

I know I'm much more aggravated by some asshole in the hotel on Karkand than 3 friends knife reviving in some corner or some guy in a tank killing me because I'm too lazy to spawn somewhere else (or my team sucks so much ass they can't kill him).

As for SF in general, I don't even play it.  I bought it for the weapons and that was pretty much it.  I get so much lag it just drives me bananas.  Yeah, I said it...bananas.

I donno I heard Road to Jalalallalalallalabizzad might not be infantry only.

As for being in armor, people DO go for you first - usually.  Most of the time though, people are too lazy to change to AT class to take you out.  I often play in servers where I see a tank and choose AT class, but everyone else on my team desides to try to take pot shots at it with their RPKs or whatnot.  Just my luck I guess

I don't know about everyone else, but I LOVE servers that kick for using anything but a vodnik/humvee.  Don't get me wrong, I know EA put the armor/jets/helos into the game for everyone to use, but is it so wrong to go around and not be whored by some kind of vehicle?

Now, this wouldn't bother me too much if EA offered us infantry lovers an alternative.  I cry inside for an infantry only map.  EA even goes the extra mile to cock-block us and disallow vehicle only rules to be applied in servers.  FURTHERMORE no server is allowed to run modded maps, according to BF2ROE.

I just feel that an infantry only map may redeem some qualities of this game, since they nerfed almost everything so hard it's almost unenjoyable.  I think that on infantry only maps you'd have more squad cooperation because theres no armor to whore solo, and you might actually see people with some skill as infantry men.

Just my rant.  Post your thoughts.

I think we should make it a neutral area, like Antarctica, so that way it may be used by all peoples for worship without the fear of being gunned down for praying.

OH OH OH! I had one yesterday I'm kind of ashamed about but it's still funny as hell.  I was on MEC on Sharqi Peninsula, and managed to get my friend to pilot for me while I manned the anti-matter cannon on the MEC chopper.  USMC had all their spawns and whatnot so I decided hey - why not be "that guy" and not let them take off in their chopper.  I just wanna help my buddies on the ground not get wtf pwned by a helo

So the previous round I'd been spawn camped, being USMC and dealing with the MEC chopper is difficult, but by no means impossible to rid yourself of.  There's a humbee that spawns next to the TV station that most people don't think about, which is instrumental in the pwnage of the MEC baseraper - especially since they nerfed the helo's' health.  This is why I justify baseraping on Sharqi - it's just so damn easy to stop it from happening that I figure if you can't stop it, you deserve to be raped lol.

Anyways, moving on. 

As I said I was manning the anti-matter cannon and was killing anyone who spawned on top of the TV station.  I didn't want that helo to take off!  Eventually everyone learned not to spawn there because, well - duh.  However, there was this one guy who apparently had alzheimer's and would continually spawn there only to die by my hand.  Unfortunately he's not on my top enemy list

For reference.  Just my most amusing BF2 round ever. (Also, I got 1 more kill just before round ended but couldn't take an SS heh.)

Nobody reports they're getting bullied so it's going to be almost impossible to find "documentation" of bullying.  Furthermore, in large schools like Columbine, most bullying that DOES get reported isn't catalogued - most people will just tell you to suck it up.

Constant bullying can fuck you up in the head much faster tha any drug on the market.  You can't attribute this to video games or bad parenting, although they MAY be attributing factors, they are certainly not the cause.  Constany bullying destroys who you are and how much respect you have for yourself.  If someone has no respect for themselves and their own lives, how can you possibly expect them to have any respect for anyone else?

For the most part, kids who are bullied don't go around shooting up their schools, but for these two kids they reached their breaking point.  It's a pitiful sight when we solely look at the end results of a crime and not why it happened.  I'm not trying to justify the 2 boys' crimes, for they are unexcusable and heinous, but there was something so wrong with these kids that you can't just write it off to psychopathic tendencies.  There was an underlying factor there, one which we will probably never know.

I think I have to side with Israel on this one - I just view them as more willing to negotiate than the Palestinians.  They did now what Bush did after September 11th - their enemies are quite similar.  Palestinian children are raised with rifles and taught to hate Jews - hell, some of 'em WANT to grow up to be martyrs. 

It was fundamentalists who kidnapped the Israeli soldier, and chances are they weren't/aren't going to give him up - I agree with Palestines decision to attack.  Hell, as of Thursday there were no casualties or injuries by the Israeli's against the Palestinians - yet.  I haven't checked that figure lately, it may have changed, but to do bombing runs and not hurt anyone is pretty impressive.

I'm hoping this is just a "shock and awe" campaign, and that Israel will have flexed it's muscle enough to show Palestine they're not fucking around - just like Israel vs. Egypt in the 6 day war.

I don't know what mine was, becasue all of my best round scores were with some kind of vehicle and wiped out my infantry ones.  I'm gonna GUESS that it was somewhere around 110-120 (on karkand most likely).

Was fucking around on Wake Island as USMC with an M95.  I'm sitting on the south end of the island, battle-crawling through the bush because I'm tearfully bored.  I see an enemy chopper come out of nowhere, the Havoc, with a corporal piloting it and a Captain gunning.  I laugh a little, thinking I'm about to be wtfpwned.

But that was not the case.

The corporal was flying low and slow, so for shits and giggles I fired off a potshot at the cockpit - and killed the pilot.  The helo started to spin out of control, and by this time I'M out of control laughing my ass off that I'd actually killed the pilot.  For kicks, I fire another random round at the cockpit, but fail to kill the gunner as well.  The chopper spins out of control and slams into the flagpole - giving me another kill and +1 for a flag defend.

Actually LOADS of things prevent cheating. The main problem is that loads of things are NOT managed by the server, but by the client (which is why you get less lag EVEN with 64 people on the map). However, PunkBuster will ONLY look for things in the client which it KNOWS about. PunkBuster is a programme, not a god. If you wanna go totally cheatfree, you need to play only games that has NO client installed locally. I can't offhand think of many, and certainly none as complex as BF2.

I'm a firm believer that BF2 should do what America's Army does with punkbuster - have punkbuster take screenshtos of your screen at intervals during gameplay, and then post them to the IP of the server.  If you type the server IP into an IE window, itll show you the SS's of everyone in the server and you can see who's cheating or not.  This way it would make it easier to wipe the stats of those people who hack/glitch etc.

So, this afternoon my buddy Divided2 and I decided to wtfpwn in a server.

Divided 2 and I were having a grand old time - we were on Mec, on Sharqi Peninsula, chopper whoring.  I originally didn't get in the gunner seat, but upon asking, the person who was in it (a member of the =3vil= clan I believe) hopped out and I thanked him for being so nice.  Anyways, for some reason I was posessed by a case of the giggles and found EVERYTHING to be abso-fuckinglutely hilarious.  We were chopper raping the TV station - trying to keep the enemy chopper grounded to help out our buddies.  Some guy on USMC complained we were spawn raping, and we got into a bit of a tussel, but all was well in the land of Seraphim.

The admin, mister sonofthebeach, warned us not to teamkill anyone for the chopper since we were chopper whoring, to which Divided and I both replied that we wouldn't kill a soul (on our team).  We weren't spamming that chat - we were having friendly banter - divided crashed the chopper into a lampost and I lol'd in the main chat - we related how funny it was.  We came into a closee call with an evil member who was tryin to land his Cobra that we'd left alive on the Mec TV station, and although we didn't hit the nice fella, he crashed it into a mountain and everyone had a good laugh. 

I was being careful as all hell not to TK a single soul because of the warning we received.  When using the MEC anti-matter cannon on Sharqi, it's very hard not to TK if people are running for the flags you're putting suppressive fire on.  All of a sudden, out of nowhere, both Divided and I are kicked from the server.



This didn't piss me off so much as it amused me.  Apparently, when playing a video game one must conduct one's self in a stoic manner, devoid of any and all personality.

I'm not mad at you PIB - I'd just like an explanation; and an apology.  Plzkthx.

Israel was formed in the late 40's after WWII when sentiments for the Jewish people were high after the mass genocide Hitler did.  They returned to their homeland and created their own Jewish state.

However, the middle east has been at war with itself for hundreds of years.  It's not JUST Israel/Palestine - it's Pakistan/India, Iraq vs. itself, etc.

I think you'll find China haven't done ANYTHING in recent history (~30/40 years at least) to suggest that they have imperialistic deisgns on any of the countries you mention. In fact - weren't China on the RECEIVING end of imperialism in WWII?

I will concede that China have issues in Tibet and Taiwan but I don't think the rest of the world need to be worried.

I put the EU as a choice .... for others - it's a POLL .... I don't believe they are or will be a superpower but hey - things change as time goes by. The EU may someday have an army and a consitution.

I'm not sure if this has been stated yet, (im too lazy to read through 4+ pages of comments) but China does have some quasi imperialistic visions for the future. 

Last year (2005) China tried to corner the US oil market - and succeeded.  A couple oil refineries went up for sale in Canada, and the US was expecting large companies like Shell or Mobil to buy them - which they didn't.  They ended up going to China, the highest bidder.  They wanted to exchange the refiners to the US for the Internet, some military technology, and other things.

Besides, China HATES Taiwan - you can't tell me they don't want to reclaim little China? lol
