Great game just for the sheer fun of it: ok so the story and presenation of Mercs 1 was better, but by scale this one wins by miles. Mercs 2 actually has boats, destroyable oil rigs and ships, and proper usage of helicopters (Mercs 1 had 'em, but they were ridiculously rare and weak)

IIRC, under the Obama plan, the higher tax rate only applies to any income over $250k. So you pay the lower rate for all earnings up to $250k, then you pay the higher rate on all earnings from $250,000.01 and up. It's not like the increased tax rate applies to all earnings once you cross that line.
Back to the original question: this sums it up pretty well. It was the Poles and Slavs who were killed en masse, and Poland is of course almost entirely Catholic.:
n the eastern European regions, millions of Poles -- Jews and Catholics alike -- were murdered by the SS and police personnel in the field or in killing centers such as Auschwitz-Birkenau and Treblinka. In the ideology of the Nazis, the Poles were considered an inferior "race." The Germans intended to murder members of the political, cultural and military elite and reduce the remainder of the Polish population to the status of a vast pool of labor for the so-called German master race. It is estimated that between 5 and 5.5 million Polish civilians, including 3 million Polish Jews, died or were killed under Nazi occupation. This figure excludes Polish civilians and military personnel who were killed in military or partisan operations. They number approximately 664,000.
SS authorities in the concentration camps did not generally record the religious affiliation of a prisoner, with the exception of the Jehovah's Witnesses. As a result it is difficult, perhaps impossible, to reliably estimate the total number of Catholic victims who were persecuted or killed because of some action or position connected to their Catholic faith. Some data exists regarding the number of Catholic prisoners (especially members of the clergy) in individual camps.
I think a dog should be a perk, that replaces grenades. Just press left to whistle, and a dog spanws behind you and runs forward, attacking the nearest enemy (only 1 dog per life, of course). You could combine 5 or 6 of you and it would be hilarious. Dog army!
As most of the people here are PC players, this prob doesn't apply - but for PS3 and Xbox splitscreen games can be a little dull. Here's a few games to spice it up:
Knife Tag
Mode: Team Deathmatch
Radar: On
Weapons: Knives
Best Maps: Crossfire, Backlot
Best played with three players. Player 1 is by himself and must dodge the other 2 for as long as possible. He's not allowed to use any weapons. Players 2 and 3 are on a team, and must try to knife player 1 as many times as possible within 5 minutes. This leads to hilarious chases all over the map, as radar is constantly on. To spice up the game, try allowing special grenades for both teams.
Grenade Chicken
Mode: Free for all
Radar: off
Weapons: Suicide grenades
Best map: Shipment
This one is simple, the only weapon allowed is suicide grenades (IE, holding down grenades until they blow). Most kills win. Its all about timing.
Pistoliers
Mode: FFA
radar: off
Headshots only: on
weapons: pistols
best map: shipment
Pistols and headshots only.
Juggernaut
mode: FFA
radar: off
weapons: all
sprint: off
health: double
heath regen: fast
best map: shipment
old school: on
This is hilarious, as nobody can run away from each other due to no sprint. Eventually, everyone tries to grab the shotgun.

Supposedly all the sniper rifles do 70 damage. If so, then using stopping power, whcich increases damage by 140%, should make them all do 98 damage. However, I've noticed that the R700 and .50 Cal seem to be 1-shot kill (softcore) with stopping power (which would suggest 100+ damage), but the Dragunov isn't. I haven't tried the other snipers. Can anyone explain this?
Does this apply to the PS3 as well?
What do people think of this game (coming out in 2 days in UK). It looks very good for split-screen, but pretty crap otherwise.
Army of Two comes out in 4 days, co-op based shooter. Dynasty Warriors 6, if you're a fan comes out same day. Rainbow Six Vegas is pretty good. Resistance Fall of Man is a classic, but not as good as COD4. Nina Gaiden.
RPD, grip, stopping power, deep impact.
Steady aim is pointless as it doesnt take any time to zoom anyway.

Try and keep it serious, please.
Here's some of my ideas. I think they're pretty balanced:
Perk 1:
Heat Vision - allows you to see through smoke grenades, but range is limited and terrain is difficult to see.
Taunt - sort of the opposite to dead silence. Pressing left would make your soldier call out, allowing you to attract people to ambush them.
Laser Trip - when someone goes through the beam (invisible), you hear a beep. Stops people sneaking up on you when sniping.
Perk 2:
Grenade Kick - pressing R2 allows you to quickly kick incoming grenades away rather than throw them. This would counteract martyrdom.
Throwing knife - allows you to throw your knife. This is very accurate (and 1 hit kill) over 10m or so, but leaves you knifeless (knife cannot be retrieved)
Perk 3:
Ghillie Suit - gives a ghillie suit (light green, so it actually blends in with the grass) no matter the class.
Enemy uniform - gives you an enemy uniform, enough to confuse enemies for a few seconds. You still appear on the uav and red on crosshairs as normal.
Attachments:
Bayonet Knife - attached to assault rifles, this gives you a much longer melee range. Throwing knife cant be used with this.
IR beam - the same beam on the M4 SOPMOD in single player.
Flash suppressor - attached to sniper rifles, this reduces the muzzle flash.
Sawn-off barrel - increases spread but reduces range of shotgun.
Shot limiter - limits you to single shot (AR/LMG) or burst fire (SMG), but increases accuracy by x1.4 (only attachable to LMGs, SMGs and automatic rifles)

Yes, using a controller is less accurate than a mouse - but everyone else is using one, so it balances out. I only have COD on PS3, but I cant imagine it with 50 players - 18 gets crowded on some of the smaller maps if you play tdm and domination. I can see how it would be good for hardcore though, at the moment hardcore gets boring as everyone is very cautious.
So my radeon X600 decided to die on me. Anyway, I'm looking for a replacement card (on a budget of about £50 (or $100), and my choices are limited because I need an AGP one.
Currently I'm down to two choices:
Radeon x1550 512mb
or
Radeon HD 2400 256mb
The 2400 is quite a bit faster in terms of clock speed (not that I really understand what that is) but has less memory.
Which one would be better for gaming? My other stats are 1gb ram and 3.2 ghz processor.
Thx

Here is the first official trailer from the team behind the eagerly-anticipated First Strike Mod - bringing Star Wars to the Battlefield. The mod will include both ground and space combat (but no jedi), as you can see in the trailer below. At the end of the trailer is the release date the for the first release of the mod, but the mod will continually change and evolve throughout this year and next. Please feel free to ask questions here, but more information and the mod forums can be found at the website by clicking on the pic at the top of this post.
Enjoy the trailer.

So I'm looking for a new PS3 game (I have RFOM, Motorstorm and Oblivion, incidentally) and cant decide between GRAW and RSV. The GRAW demo just came out for PS3 and seems ok, but not brilliant. However, lots of reviews seem to proclaim it as amazing. The RSV demo isn't out yet.
There's a "ghost" hovercaft as well, which spawns on a hill a rolls into the sea.
Just found a website with all the sales data
http://vgchartz.com/
Interestingly, although the X360 is the market leader (10m to Wii's 9m to PS3's 4m), the Weekly sales show that the PS3 is outselling the 360 by a bit, and the Wii by 5x as much.

I'm just interested in seeing how the new generation of consoles is selling.
Dunno. I've played GRAW with 4 player online co-op and it was pretty shit (although Halo is probably more suited to it).
Bit more up. Been on holiday for a while, sorry for the delay.
Keep on dreaming. Your best bet is Guild Wars (no monthly fees), but I believe that only has MMO cities, outside them you and your party are alone.Fireteam_Delta wrote:

[*] Decent Graphics.
[*] Free.
There are plenty of free ones around such as Silkroad Online, but they're all just worse versions of WoW. Hardly free, but If you pay £100 (about the price of a years membership) or so you get lifetime membership of LOTR Online. Not sure if that offer is still open though, it may have been a launch thing.
What do calm and frenzy actually do?
Levelling actually makes you weaker, as it has very little impact on your stats. In fact, if you never sleep, you'll be almost invincible, as your stats will increase, but the enemies wont get any tougher. Since you're still using a steel swrod but are level 15, I'm guessing you levelled way too quickly. Your only solutions are to restart the game and sleep less often, or to lower the difficulty and not sleep for ages (until you are ocmfortable with the enemy difficulty).
I think that's the problem. If they were doing it inside the closet, nobody could see...
Same here. Oblivion doesn't feel like an RPG, as there's minimal points assignment (there's a bit of choice at the beginning, but a part from that, you just select three out of seven attributes to increase every level). Increasing your skills is done by the amount you actually use those skills, so the more you use a blade, the better you'll be with bladed weapons. Also, the game is played in first person (you can play in thrid person but its not ideal), so its much more immersive than a standard rpg.KILLSWITCH wrote:
I thought exactly the same thing when I got my PS3, but I took a chance and got Oblivion. I didn't regret it, I thought I didn't like RPG's until I played Oblivion. It's a great game and it really showcases the PS3's graphics even at such an early stage in its life.FlamingPhenix wrote:

Lots of people recommended Resistance - I'd stay away from it. While it is good fun, the campaign mode is a bit boring (its fun the first time, but is very linear so isn't much fun to replay) and the multiplayer mode is nothing special (especially after playing so much battlefield).
Instead, get Motorstorm. While it lacks a 2 player mode, it is an amazing racing game if you don't like all the nitty-gritty features of games like gran turismo and need for speed and just want to actually race. It requires a lot of skill, especially if you play with motion control, and the multiplayer mode is fantastic.
About VGA adapters, I've read that they generally degrade the signal enough to make HD pointless. And I doubt you'd even ntoice HD on a computer monitor, the screen is too small.
Yet you post them in your signature...
Well I was going to make D-Day coincide with the invasion of the Europe, so the timescales should be similar.
Ok, chapter 14 finished, and chapter 15 in progress. Enjoy.
I want to spend about £20 ($40) on a mouse, as my current one keeps double clicking when I single click (which is surprisingly annoying). Preferably I'd like a corded, optical or laser mouse. Any suggestions, please?
There's no 2 term restriction. Its a tradition, as Lincoln or Washington (cant remember which) only served 2 terms, its a mark for respect. FDR served four terms.
America's gone independent? Ah crap, there goes the colonial taxes...
You actually emailed EA to get a 3 cm square of colour on a stats page where you're the only regular viewer?? Maybe you made the whole thing up just too show off your ribbon...

I've always wondered this. I tried googling it this morning but with the terms wet, glass and mark you don't get anything relevant. Does anyone know? I've heard its something to do with condensation but since the glass is impermeable this doesn't sound very likely.
The "trailer" is a tech demo that's been out for six months. I doubt this game will actually be that good, considering there's no planned multiplayer and you only get four force powers, two of which are push and repulse (aren't they the same thing?). Jedi Knight 2 had about 20 force powers.
Do you know...
a pointwhore?
a pointwhore?
Before you ask, I'm not Australian. Although I have been there a couple of times.
Ok, Africa Invasion fully up and edited, a new chapter, the Siberian Revolution, which links 2142 and Northern Strike, has been started,
Not really, as BF2S is limited to this forum. TW would apply to any player.
This poll is just to see if people would support the use of a teamwork tag. Essentially, whenever you are looking to play as a team, you put [TW] in front of your name. This allows you to easily squad up with other [TW] tagged players. The tag would be entirely opt-in: you would only put the tag on when you actually want to play as a team.
If enough people do this (I'm talking in the hundreds), then you would regularly meet other TW players, which should make a better experience for everyone.

To all you people out there who give up what is a very well designed and great game because of a few noobs: TRY ANOTHER MAP.
Yes, we can all agree that Karkand, Wake, and to a lesser extent, Sharqi, have been "corrupted" by those who play for points rather than for enjoyment. Generally these two types of players don't mix too well. But Bf2 has 14 maps, before you start counting Special Forces (another 8) or the booster packs (another 6). Most of these maps are free from "pointwhores" and some good teamplay will be found. No self-respecting pointwhore would play Dragon Valley as there are so few points to be gained. But the map is well designed and can lead to some great squadplay, which is ultimately what makes the game fun.
If I leave the post at that I'll soon hear "but only infantry maps are fun, other maps are too slow". You may disagree, but repeatedly running into the same alley and firing in the exact same place, where the winner is determined more by connection speed than skill, isn't fun for me. Successfully winning against the odds and capturing bases with a squad, which demands tactical precision, is much more fun.

Story updated.
Ok, next section up - although I didn't write it. See the authors note in the text on the first page.
It means Tampa is coming to 2142. 2008 + 136 = 2142. Plus, EA said Tampa was coming "across two generations of Battlefields", and they're not oging to rrelase it for 1942, are they?
Unfortunately, the cab only takes a single rocket to kill, but it is huge and not very fast. Still, the horn is quite fun.

So I go onto a Wake Island server, looking to fly. I don't care what jet, I just want to fly. I get sorted first on the U.S. team. Obviously, getting a jet on the U.S. is rather easy, since they get shot down so frequently. However, this task becomes much harder when there are a bunch of moronic cowards who will tk for the jet, even after you have been patiently waiting for it. Asking nicely does nothing to solve this problem. I went through about three failed attempts to fly, before deciding I would just tk the morons perpetuating the n00bery. So I do. I get kicked three times, and finally decide to try China. The first round on China, I don't get started anywhere near the J-10, and I don't get the second one that comes. So, I play a normal round. However, in the next round, I do get a good start. I am running toward the jet happily, and then it blows up. The old Eryx while unoccupied trick. So, when the moron who did it comes to the spawn in his FAV and proceeds to get the jet, I force TK. He deserves it. Fortunately for me that round, our J-10s were not being flown by the best pilots, so I had the chance frequently to get in a jet. The first time after the spawn, I actually happened to get in. This didn't last too long, because the F-35 pilot got extremely lucky and had two consecutive missiles track and hit. not so happily, I respawn, and ask my teammates to give me the jet again...Right. Someone else gets it, and proceeds to take off. I force tk again. After that., I begin swearing at the rest of the morons in the game, because they won't share, and are selfish. After that, everytime I tried to get a jet, I was either sniper out, blocked with a vehicle, or ran over with the n00b bailing out trick. Finally, after swwearing even more and more vehemently at the morons on my team, I get temp-banned.
I have lost all faith in humanity after witnessing this. The widespread n00bery and moronic traits displayed really shows how far we have digressed socially and morally. People are so rude and selfish they can't help other enjoy a game too? All the people I was dealing with I had seen flying the jet at some point. Their lack of selflessness and disregard for others, is really vexing and disturbing.
P.S. Sorry this is in block format. I am still really angry at how moronic and assh*lish people can be. I don't want to think about it. Also, i don't want to proofread for typos, so live with them. The gist should still come across.
1. Trying to fly in Wake island, a map with only 3 jets.
2. Trying to fly in Wake Island, a map known for its constant teamkilling and struggle for jets
3. Teamkilling people when you couldn't get the jet. That's just childish.
4. Not realising that patiently waiting doesn't work with most players.
5. Not going to a a)less populated, or b) different map server where it would be much easier to fly.
6. Losing faith in all humanity when playing Wake. You don't find that much humanity playing Wake, Sharqi or Karkand. Try playing a "noob-free" map.
7. Not realising that most people treat you like an NPC rather than a person.
