Yeah, I agree 100%.Runs_with_sciss0rs wrote:
Going to be a good race.
For last weeks race though, the 24 team really screwed that one up. That last pit stop they took, Gordon only took 2 tires, now tell me why would you give the leader of the race two tires when you know it will be the last time you pit? Jeff was the fastest guy out there all day and you give him two tires? cmon. Jimmy took four and took the lead while Jeff died out. I love Jimmy, I'm happy he won, but Jeff Gordon should have had that race.
Yeah, me too Mek. Wasnt going to be much in reality me thinkst.Mekstizzle wrote:
Well USF1 is out (TC.Troy, I am disappoint)
Campos (HRT F1) look like they're in, Senna & Chandhok and they're revealing their car today. FIA says fuck off to Stefan GP for some reason.
So it will be a 24 car grid for the season, looks like.
Yeah, I agree. Although (damnit...) the larger plate wont be used at Talladega, if I heard correctly.Stingray24 wrote:
Like what I'm seeing of the extra horsepower from watching the Shootout. 2010 looks like we'll have much better racing.

Jimmy Johnson male athlete of the year!
You must be thinking of Milka Duno. Labeled by many drivers and team chiefs as "the rolling chicane". Danica actually has a decent record in Irl. I wouldnt underestimate her tbh. She is doing it right, imho, and is going to start out in very good equipment. Danica has talent, but we'll see what she can do in a downforce challenged, 3400lb. stock car.Canin wrote:
Hope she can drive a stock car better than the way I saw her in an open wheels car.
Indeed.burnzz wrote:
i lol'ed, when i saw that if Jimmie starts the race, jeff gordon's out . . .
I agree with that, to a degree. Fact is tho, Danica has more potential than any other woman thats ever driven in NASCAR. She is a marketing dream, of that there can be no doubt.Mekstizzle wrote:
She's just a show pony
umm...Stingray24 wrote:
I wouldn't mind learning her curves ... oh, did I say that out loud?
Agreed, the kid was a whoot. Certainly gives me a better reason to watch GP2.Mekstizzle wrote:
Only thing that annoys me is that Kobayashi might not get a drive for next season. The guy showed promise and was interesting to watch. Better than all the other newcomers that's for sure.
Yeah, you'd think. But what actually happened was, everone lined up single file and rode around. Very little, if any bump drafting even on the straights...and this went on for the vast majority of the race.Mekstizzle wrote:
But surely if they were allowed to bump on the straights at least that was where things were interesting. I didn't watch the race. I dunno. I think NASCAR are doing an even worse job at trying to have more overtaking than F1. With 2009 F1 tried to change the rules to induce more overtaking with less emphasis on aero downforce grip and more on tyre mechanical grip. But they screwed up with the whole Diffuser fiasco.
But with NASCAR and this "Car of Tomorrow" shit, where NASCAR has gone from "Stock" racing to what is essentially a single spec racing series far more stringent than F1. Then throw in gay safety rules and restrictor plates etc... And yeah, I can see why races like this are so lame.
Well, certainly it isnt NASCAR's fault if a car runs dry on fuel. However, what people are blaming NASCAR for is the distinct lack of cometition during sundays race.Mekstizzle wrote:
What happened? And how is it all NASCAR's fault if people run out of petrol or have accidents?
But yeah, to be honest, I'd say NASCAR is going down a worse route than even F1 in terms of being gay with rules.
Yeah, not only that, but it'll be like Dale sr. commented..."lets see who has the balls to run wide open, and who doesnt."Stingray24 wrote:
I say take off the plates and let em use their right foot, baby! Waaaaaaaaaaap! Then drivers will have the power to pass on their own and it'll no longer be the freight train contest it has become.
'fraid not cat. Has'nt been a Nationwide race at 'dega in forever...if ever...it's early, so my memory is'nt really up to snuff. However...if memory serves, the reason there is no race is due to the speeds. Most Nationwide drivers have barely gotten approoval to run Daytona. Along with that, the costs of having multiple speedway cars really doesnt gel with the sort of policy NASCAR tries to keep for that series (low cost, less travel etc etc...its all debatable imo).Stingray24 wrote:
No Nationwide at 'Dega? Wth?!?!?!
Love the 48 too...Runs_with_sciss0rs wrote:

Mek, I never implied that an F1 driver needed success to try NASCAR...but lets face it, if you cant drive and win in F1, you *most likely* wont be worth a shit in a Cup car. F1 is FAR more difficult than Cup.Mekstizzle wrote:
Never heard of a Mika Salo. I thought you just made a mistake and meant Takuma Sato (Japan), he was one of my favourite F1 drivers, the guy was crazy. He did alot of funny crazy shit in the races. Well he wasn't exactly good cos of that, but it was entertaining.
It's not like they need success in F1 to qualify for NASCAR. They'd be much better and well established than most other drivers to start a career with. Trulli won the Monaco GP in 2005 (or 2004), these guys know how to drive.
Piquet Jr would be interesting, the guy that deliberately crashed. Dunno how much attention all of that got over in the states, whether people would be comfortable having him as their driver.
Depending on the car (most are different) probably-ish 40 percent Sometimes less, sometimes more. Fact is, NASCAR dictates the rule, this is one of those " gray areas" but you dont go outside that or you will face fines, penalties and the list goes on. Inspection tells the tale. Both pre-race, and post race. Oh, and btw, the rear deck lid is "stock" as well (this is one of those gray areas, depends on the track. Hope this answers your question. Again, no offense intended on the "noob" comment.Red Forman wrote:
what percentage is actually stock?TC.Troy wrote:
Spoken like a true noob. No offense intended. The roof and several other parts are "stock", meaning they are production parts. Granted, the Vast majority of the car is custom made, due to aero and current rules, nonetheless, "stock" is still there. Although the point is still debatable.
