I got my 60G PS3 last week for $273 dollars after tax at EB, and that price is the only reason I got it now. I have already returned it twice because of the electrical whine it was making. 10 games traded in to get it for 399, an old xbox and ps2 for another 160 off, and two more games traded for a free PS3 game.
You probably could have returned it to the place of purchase for such a short lifespan, but at least they're paying attention to you.

In the stage you have to fight your way up the street (after the Chinese themed casino methinks) in one of the alleys on the left side there's a little bottle of Axe that plays a RS (presented by Axe, of course) blooper reel in your onboard screen, featuring the characters, when you shoot it. Good for a laugh.
When I installed SF it patched BF2 to 1.1 no probs, but I did hear this about framework somewhere else.LoonykStephane wrote:

I assume you did your windows update!!!
If so, you have to Reformat again!!! Because it's messing around with the patching.
Install windows, update your sound and video drivers...and install WinRAR / WinZIP BF2, SF, EF, AF.......patch it up and then AND ONLY THEN do the rest of the windows update.
(Look like net framework 3.0 is fucking around patch 1.1 for BF2-SF....) and other shit.
About 150G. The patch doesn't even open the installation window. I double click it, and it takes a few minutes to actually do anything (it always did this, even when the old patches worked) then I get the error.[TUF]Whiskey_Oktober wrote:

This is the first time I had to deal with 1.41 too.
Hey all,
Quite often when dl'ing new programs, updates or firefox plug ins, I get a 'file is corrupt' or 'windows has found a problem with this file' when I attempt to install them.
It used to happen A LOT, but since then I have reformatted and most such updates go fine (formerly WMP 11, IE7, various other files would give me these errors; since the reformat most of these go off without a hitch - windows live messenger's new version won't update and results in one of these messages').
Anyway, I just installed BF2, then Special Forces, and then downloaded the full 1.41 patch. When I try to patch the game, the patch setup.exe results in a '...encountered a problem and needs to close, send to microsoft blah blah blah' error, every time.
Does this sound familiar to anyone? I got the patch from EA's site and haven't tried anywhere else, as it's not only this patch that gives me installation problems.
If anyone has any useful advice it would be appreciated.
Thanks group.
edit: sorry, I'm using XP SP2, and have never had a hardware problem so I didn't include specs.

Sometimes a non-responsive program can do that, but check control panel -> power options -> advanced and make sure it's not set to 'stand by' under power buttons.
Enable Advance Power Management, too, if it isn't.

eBay bans sales of virtual goods
By Justin Mann, TechSpot.com

Whether it be buying in-game goods, pre-built characters or a host of other services, most MMORPGs have some form of economy on eBay, with people willing to trade real money for virtual goodies. While most of the companies behind these games disallow such behavior, little is done to stop it. Now, eBay has stepped in, and has banned all sales of virtual goods. With estimated values of virtual goods ranging from $250 Million to $880 Million (though it might as well be $0 according to many), eBay is voluntarily giving up a huge amount of revenue to other companies that offer similar services:
eBay's move is "a boon for sites like IGE," said Julian Dibbell, author of Play Money: Or How I Quit My Day Job and Struck it Rich in Virtual Loot Farming. "They're going to have the field pretty much to themselves." But, Dibbell said, such a circumstance is "sad" because it restricts individuals from being direct participants in the markets themselves.
Why? According to eBay, it is all about user protection, which also plays in to corporate accountability. Sure, each sale brought in more money for eBay – but could it also be bringing in a host of legal problems? It's hard to track whether or not someone actually gave another someone a sack of gold in a game, no matter how much you try.
At the same time, there is also speculation that it is a pre-emptive move from eBay to get out of a market that could soon be pitched into a battle with game developers and local Governments intervening.

A Texan, a Frenchman & a Canadian are out riding horses.
The Texan pulls out an expensive bottle of whiskey, takes a shot, then another. Then he throws the bottle in the air, pulls out his gun and shoots the bottle in mid air.
The Canadian looks at him and says, "What are you doing?! That was a perfectly good bottle of whiskey!"
The Texan says, "In Texas, there's plenty of whiskey and bottles are cheap."
A while later, not wanting to be outdone, the Frenchman pulls out a bottle of champagne, takes a few sips, throws the bottle in the air, pulls out his gun and shoots it.
The Canadian can't believe this and says, "What did you do that for? That was an expensive bottle of champagne!"
The Frenchman says "In France there's plenty of Champagne and bottles are cheap."
So a while later the Canadian pulls out a bottle of beer, he opens it, takes a sip, takes another sip, and then chugs the rest. He then puts the bottle back in his saddlebag, pulls out his gun, turns around and shoots the Frenchman.
The Texan, shocked, says, "Why did you do that? "
The Canadian says, "Well, in Canada, we have plenty of Frenchmen but beer bottles are worth a dime."

Try GRAW or Rainbow Six. I have tons of fun with both. You can't go wrong with one of the Call of Duty's, either. Lost Planet is coming out tomorrow, it's been the most downloaded demo on live and it's quite good. There's quite a few upcoming games that look good too, if you find a few to hold you over.Noobpatty wrote:

Hey Stef, only one person is complaining on the R6 forums about the disc crack, and the link you provided (didn't search the Xbox forums) is complaints from a year ago (first gen consoles). Did you crack your disc? You might be overreacting.stef10 wrote:

There may occur a error with the last link. Go to about half down on the upper link and you find the link to
the forum.
So maybe you should reconsider about buying a Xbox 360
EDIT: there are more recent posts in the xbox forum so it isn't all first gen consoles, my bad.
I'm waiting for Gran Turismo 5 and FF13. Hopefully the PS3 is a little cheaper by then, seeing as GT is always delayed anyway.
I got my 360 in September '06 and haven't had a problem yet, and I play it like crazy.
Liquix - is there an actual MS intercooler, or just they Nyco/Intec Intercooler? I hear the Nyco causes more problems than it solves.
A lot of times people are putting their consoles vertical, as well, which really, (in my opinion) despite what MS, Sony or anyone else says, is not a good idea. Moving the console with a disc in it is also a bad call.
If you're going to go PS3, wait a year for the problems to be worked out and some sweet games to be released.
Rumors of MGS5 showing up on the 360 abound. Some other usually PS only title is supposedly coming to the 360 but damned if I remember what it is...
All in all, go with whatever you want, just treat it well.
edit: Zimmer's post right above mine is what I was thinking about the intercooler....just buy a 10 dollar fan and point it at your console

Meh, all the midi-chlorians in the world couldn't help Vader beat Obi Wan, who only sacrificed himself the second time around and died a 60 year old virgin.Coolbeano wrote:
I'd have to say Maul looks kickass with his clothes and double-blade, as well as being able to fight without using his lightsaber (butterfly kicks ftw) but Vader has all the cool things: Power to persuade, fight with a saber and he's the only guy who has any actual sex in the movies. And with PADME. Kudos for that.

A month or two after I quit smoking, I developed a real good cough. After it got to the point where I was coughing every 2 or 3 seconds, I went to the doctor who diagnosed me with Bronchitis and gave me a puffer or something. Soon thereafter during one of my coughing fits I felt something in my chest snap, followed by a severe burning sensation (who knows). The doctor then thought I had pneumonia (although the X-ray's were negative).
After that snap each cough burned like a mofo, and I was coughing 24 hours a day. This lasted for around a month and half before it gradually went away on it's own.
Not very severe, but due to the month and a half duration and respectable pain, I'd say it's the worst illness I've had. I've been very lucky to have only dealt with the common illnesses like colds, and only 2 or 3 flus that I can remember.

Seriously though, I wouldn't like to see Quebec separate. I don't know why they feel they have to be recognized as being so different from the rest of the country. Go check out Cape Breton and Newfoundland if you want different, and each province recognizes it's own differences from the rest. I consider Quebec to be as big a part of this country as my own province.
I don't understand the underlying problems Quebec has with the rest of the country though, and they probably will separate eventually. Each time they have a referendum and the 'no to separation' side wins just makes the 'yes' camp whine more and more and more, and we all know that crying gets results.
