As long as he's not handling firearms in an unsafe manner, who gives a shit? I doubt he shoots anything enough to develop any habits, good or bad.
Well, if his point is that all practical semi-automatic handguns cartridges are inherently weak, compared to nearly any centerfire rifle cartridge, then I guess I agree with him. I suppose it comes down to personal preference and comfort/ability.
I've already got the EE DVDs and now the EE bluray set.rdx-fx wrote:

12 hours for the whole trilogy now.
I doubt the Silmarillion will ever by made made into movies. It's a bit dense and very esoteric.By the time the Hobbit trilogy and Silmarillion prequel are done, and the extended super director's final cut anniversary editions are done, I'm betting the whole series will have more running time than the original Star Trek TV series.
I never said it should be a law.Hmm, lets make some more laws to fix stupidity.
At this point, Jackson is making Tolkien movies for Tolkien fans -because he fucking well can. It's not about appealing to primarily casual movie goers. If Jackson want to stretch out his legs in middle earth, get into a bit of the nitty-gritty, and generally lollygag, I'm not gonna complain, but I'm also not a casual movie goer when it comes to tolkien shit.
Oh no, 4473s!!! that's how the invading commies will disarm us.west-phoenix-az wrote:
All private sales through NICS with 4473 filed? I'll pass.
It's already a common fee paid for FFL transfers.FFL shops charging $20-50 for this worthless service? I'll pass.
locks keep honest people honest and dumb people frustrated. Of course, with time, resources and insanity, anything can be defeated, so what's your point? Smash-and-grab crackheads are interested in the fast, easy score. A curious 3 year old won't be sparking up an acetylene torch just to accidently shoot his 2 year old brother in the head. Pretending no responsibility comes with the right of firearms ownership is half the reason we often look like shitkicking morons. Lanza's dumb cunt of a mother should never have been showing her defective, personality disordered son, how to handle firearms. Not that an absense of firearms would prevent insane people from doing insane things, but a little common sense on that bitch's part wouldn't have hurt. Can't justify the need or cost for a locker doesn't mean you're stupid and shouldn't own firearms.
Anything cheap enough to be "reasonable" is too easy to walk away with or defeat on site.
You mean transferable registration? I'll pass. I could see all private sales requiring a NICS check. FFL shops would make a nice little profit, $20-50 per phone call. Of course, this wouldn't kill the illegal market because criminals have the bad habit of not obeying laws. I'd like to say firearms owners should be required to properly store and secure their firearms, but I can't see how that could be accomplished without registration. Personally, I think a person who's too poor or stupid to own, at the mininum, a gun locker, shouldn't own any firearms at all.unnamednewbie13 wrote:
How about transferable licensing between individuals as with automobiles? I'd be all for that. That way, the straw purchaser couldn't claim ignorance of the law or complain about legal second-hand sales, and second-hand sales would smell a bit more legitimate.
The private sale of firearms between two people does not require a backround check, in most place (California and similiar states may be different). The "gunshow loophole" is nothing more than the legal transaction between two citizens. Which means you could call it the "I know a guy trying to sell his random gun loophole" or the "craigslist loophole" or the "local classifieds loophole". There is no magic gunshow free pass. Any firearms transaction involving an FFL dealer will involve all the same applicable legal requirements.Dilbert_X wrote:
Well apparently its not difficult to buy a firearm secondhand, from a gun show, there being no background checks and such.
some cars require a WOT event to recalculate the barometric pressure and adjust the fuel mixture. and some cars require a key off/on cycle to perform the same calculations. but the variance isn't generally even noticeable unless you have malfunctioning input sensors.PrivateVendetta wrote:
Right, drove to a ski resort with some mates and had some car discussions.
We were commenting on the cars' shitty performance was just down to the car being weighed down and up hills. I added that the higher altitude had an effect as well. They scoffed that a higher altitude/elevation reduces power significantly, I am convinced otherwise but can't find anything credible (ie. not a car forum) to back it up. Anyone help with some useful links?

anytime you've got a short barrel it's loud. .22lr out of a rifle isn't much louder than a magnum air rifle. .22lr out of my 2.5" revolver is unbearable. rings my ears just as bad as a 9mm.
i once posted in eechats. didn't see what the big deal was.
those things are delicious.
shoulda got the stg44.
you should get a lever rifle in .357/.38. that would be more "cowboys and indians" than a 30-30. cheaper too. Winchester, Marlin, or any of the CAS makers can outfit you.

if only you guys were there to give such prescient advise. "let's go in, guns blazing." And hopefully everything will go perfectly as planned and it doesn't turn into a shitstorm of more dead and imperilled Americans and maybe some mutilated and dead civilains too. nothing engenders sympathy and cooperation like kids blown to pieces.
sending gun ships and soldiers into an unknown, fluid situation, in a country that we aren't trying to wreck, yeah, nothing even more horrible than losing 4 americans could come of that.
