I ask myself the same question everyday, because i want to be a surgeon but i'm
doing calculus and advanced physics and i love it. My dad actually gave me a really smart answer:
the reason we tend to learn all these "pointless things" as some may call it, even if it doesn't
apply to the field you are going into, is because it's knowledge. Half the things we learn in school we may
not even use in our life, but it becomes part of our knowledge so people may be able to carry on
educational conversations without sounding like a dumbass
