In the ten years of Bf2s hiatus, I’ve been witness to the long term effects of homelessness. Saddening. Seeing people shred their own sense of self worth due mental and physical detachment and distancing is hard on the soul.

Got a quick fact check to run thru everybody.

In the final scenes, when Hedley Lamarr (Harvey Korman) is going to the theatre to watch his own movie, he pushes a young man outta the way so he can get to the ticket counter. 

Is the guy he pushes a young Ron Howard?  I couldn't tell, but I thought it might be.  He has the Gary Busey jawline but I was hoping some of the other movie junkies online with me might be able to confirm or deny this.  IMDB had nothing on it and I couldn't find any other cast roll calls that told me either.

Anyone?

So I watched. Wasn't that bad. Wasn't over the top great either. 

I kept expecting Bombay porn music to start playing for Mohinder.  Belle's dad turns out to be the ultimate banker/finance guy.  Sylar might be kin to bad bitch momma Petrelli??!?? Interested to see where this goes.  Wanted to see some of the tech wiz kid, kinda disappointed to see linderman's return.

My hopes go out to you guys without power or worse.  We still don't have power to most of the rural areas. Some aren't expecting it to be restored for weeks.  With the cold front moving on, temps will rise again. 

We have had 2 families living with us for a week now to help out.  It is a strain, but there are plenty in need, so you do what you can.

I've hauled, chopped, chipped, and dragged about 6k lbs of fallen trees in the past week.  I am so sick of seeing limbs, leaves, and wood... I think I will boycott arbor day in response.

Some 700k folks up there in Ike's way lost power.  No laughing matter.  Recently, Duke recalled teams sent down here as well as requested aid from N/S Carolina. 

Ike's path and intensity traveled far from the coast.  Unfortunately, media coverage has been focused on first and hardest hit, as well as trying to point dramatic fingers at FEMA for poor response.

You know. I didn't need any FEMA pods.  I actually used my ice maker to give out ice to others and there is an extension cord outta the back of my house to give to those nearby power as well.  My parents house won't have power for a few weeks and I consider them lucky.

I lost a certain amount of respect for usmarine after that last post.

I'm in San Marcos still.  They are pulling people over who are trying to get back into town.  There are some who are threatened with a $500 fine or arrest for being on the roads atm.  No power to 1.5 million customers. 

A friend who stayed behind tried to drive by my place but couldn't get close because of all the tree limbs, downed power lines, and broken glass.

Sooooo glad I left.  I won't get back to work for at least a couple more days.  I'm classified as on Evacucation.  I went tubing and fishing yesterday.

Brennan's Family owned Restaurant (40 yrs established) is burning to the ground in Downtown Houston.  Galveston is in the calm of the eye, but has flooding in parts.  Power will be out for a couple o days to maybe a month.

I'm getting trashed in San Marcos.  Every time the reporters say something stupid... we drink. 

Tonight's winning line so far - "They are going to put the rescue boats IN the water to rescue people who need help."  We all had to finish our glasses on that little gem.

GL irishtop.  I relocated to San Marcos.  Mild traffic, good ride.  No complaints, but after a 15 hour evac and the detruction of my last car for Rita, I don't complain about much.

Friends who've stayed behind have already lost power and are starting to feel the high winds.

Galveston is gonna get raped.  My old workplace on the isle is already under 2-3 ft of water. (Ship's mechanic blvd and 23rd).

Yeah I had to call off the surf run.  Too many road closures means a black bag op to get in and extraction would be just as risky. 

Maybe I'll go to San Marcos and sit in a river somewhere.... 

Interesting, a 20 ft surge would put 3 ft of water in my pad,  and 7 ft in my parents house.  I'm thinking about having to evac my 150 lb dog.  If it floods and people need rescue, they will not take pets.  I love my dog too much to leave her behind.  My woman and the kids left for my parents San Marcos house.  I might join them up there.  Hate to feel like a pussy like that, but....

So this guy walks into the doctors office and tells the doctor he has a problem. 
"The other night I was out drinking, and I had too much.  When I awoke in the morning, I went to pee and noticed these two abnormal rings around my penis.  One is red and one is brown.   I'm really scared and I don't know what caused them.  Can you tell what the rings are, and am I infected or what?"

The doctor agrees to take samples.  Once he gets the samples he proceeds to tell the patient. "Go home and I'll call you when the test results come in."

The patient goes home and anxiously waits on pins and needles for the doctors call.  When the doc finally calls him he says. "Well sir, I have good news and bad news.  Which wuld you like first?"

"Tell me the good news first please."  replies the patient.

"Well the good news is the red ring is lipstick." says the Doctor.

"So what is the bad news?" asks the patient.

The Doc replies. "The bad news is that the brown ring is Skoal..."

It is an easy solution.  Albeit, maybe not the best solution, but nonetheless an easy one.

Kptk92 - Housing is dirt cheap, insurance covers hurricanes, and people are generally nicer than some of the other places I could live in.  If a 'cane wipes out my house, I can build another, it's that cheap.  After going thru one good storm, you learn to protect the material items that you value the most.  The rest can be replaced.  Survival is an attitude.

Went thru the same water-under problem when I bought my 1st house.  Bloody mess to fix too.  Drilling, limestone, $$, blah blah blah....
