Yes, there were Americans on the Cans team, and they played very well. I respect skills from people of all nationalities. My post was just to solidify the fact that the Canadian players on the American team were the backbone of the Canes win. The whole Doug Weight thing was more a joke than anything else, and my anger surfacing that the cup is in America, again, grrr. He has worked all his life for that prize. I'm happy for him. That little cut was just for the guy posting above me. Edmonton did fking great, Markonnen is not even Canadian and did an excellent job.

I watcted those guys one day too. That slayer guy managed to get a kill streak of 203 kills. I sat there and watched the whole thing, said nothing and then left the server.

The guy that took the time to report them, well, I must say a thank you. You did help the community by getting those kids a good digital slap in the face.

As for the idiot in the post above me complaning about  the fact that noone cares... this is a team game, not a rambo remake. Having fun is the main goal when you turn on your pc to play games. I don't care how good you are at this game, at the end of the day I want to have fun playing bf2. They remove the purpose of this game buy taking up 3 slots on an otherwise good server to play on, therefor,

Hello again. Sorry about the delay of my reply, I have been in and out of town for quite some time.

With the hopes of returning this post to active status... here is the latest.

Uninstalled everything BF2 related. Installed BF2 only, no SF or booster packs. Without the patch, runs great.
Install 1.3, POW ! The problem surfaces.

I'm going to record those power readings tonight and post the results tomorrow. And that's about it.

Can't try the card in another PC unless I wrangle a local PC shop to help me... yea right. I just moved to a new city. I'll see what I can do there.

The card is an MSI Nvidia. My 5700 was Asus. As I mentioned before this is the only game I am have issues with right now. Every other game I own runs great, no problems.

Cool cool Draconis. Here's the latest, and it's good news. I reformatted today because I had a virus [ Trojan Horse] about a month ago and had to use 6 floppys to boot from off the HD. When doing that I had strange errors while windows was installing. Some .dll files would not install. I was getting dll is damaged or corrupt messages or something along those lines. Was the first time in my formatting HDs life I got such errors from an installation process. I beleive that was the problem. About 6 of the win. dll's failed to install. So here I am, playing BF2 1.3 and it is running smooth as glass and I'm even getting more graphics out of my system with over 30 fps always.

Card is AGP. As for the graphics changing every patch, I learned that the hard way. I bought BF2 the day it was released and was running a 5700. After the second patch there were nice shinny textures on everything, even concrete had that glossy look. The 5700 would not run the game anymore. Was always running at below 30 fps. Even on 640x480 everything on low ! Lol.

I have yet to hit the levels that had major issues yet... I'm hoping for the best.

As for my power source, I installed ASUS Probe from the motherboard disc and my power is running just under or at the max output of this 450 watt power box.  It is close...

Stats : +12 volts - Value = 11.776                                                 
          +5 volts - Value = 4.999

Might disconnect the chassis fan seeing as my pc is in a cool basement. Even in the summer it is cool down here. Should the problem resurface I will be stunned and will let ya know.

Only BF2 acts strangely like seen in those pics and only after I apply the patch. If I remove the game and install it again while keeping it stock and play offline being patchless she runs great. I will open the box up and snoop around. For now, I'll blame EA. I really hope it's not the power box. I only have one case fan running.

I downloaded and installed the patch 2 times thinking I got a crap file transfer, have never overclocked anything in my pc and sunlight don't make it to my case during the day. Strange...

Hello people. Been months since I visited this site. Still rocks !
Now to the problem.

Been offline for quite a bit. When I returned I noticed EA was at the 1.22 patch so I downloaded it. I did not download all the previous patches and install them first like required with some games, I just grabbed the whole 200+ mb patch. After installing and rebooting I joined a server. I just got a 6600 256mb card about 3 months ago. After using a 5700 for over 2 years I was almost giddy with laughter knowing that I could use some lighting effects and shadows for the first time.

Then after running around on a few levels I noticed that something was horribly wrong as the pic I inserted will show. ( If I figure out how to insert a pic... sry... )

Tried the drivers that came with the card, the newest whql drivers from nvidia and even a few 6600 specific
drivers. Same problem persists.

Can anyone elaborate on this problem ? It is a real piss off to go from all low settings on the 5700 geforce to my current 6600 with settings on medium but with this weird graphical tearing. Happens on just about every map, bf2 and SF.

You know, I say I'm not racist but I think I really am deep down. I really dislike that part of myself becuase I don't like to pass judgement for any reason on anybody but... it is really hard for me to understand why some cultures act the way they do. I got mine with about 5 total team switches and don't forget that I was moved to the other team by the server many times only to get a loss. Why did I switch ? Because the morons on my team jump in a buggy and drive away from a flag that needs to be capped when we only have 1 flag remaining.

None. That makes no sense that they would include a graphical enhancement to a game that was already very demanding. I was running fine from the day of release until now. I don't care about having shinny textures on everything ! I want to play the damn game and enjoy every moment of it.

When the hell have you ever bought a game only to realize 5 months later your game is now incompatible with the system it has run on perfectly to date ? So, as it stands for me now I need to spend at least 130 bucks for a decent GPU then spend another 30 for the expansion. Don't forget that BF2 played great for me until the 1.12 patch.

My final decision ? I will upgrade and get the expansion. Soon ? No not for a while. BF2 will still be popular by the time I throw more money into my PC.

FK U EA, DICE, and Nvidia for allowing me to enjoy a great product then deciding that you need more money. Unlike alot of you people I just don't spend as much on my pc. Overclocking did nothing to help remedy the problem.

I love the anti tank kit. Don't mean to offend anyone but, if you can't keep a good kill death ratio with this kit then you need to revise your tatics. Nothing can beat the kits close combat advantages (armor and shotgun that mows down 4 guys in one pass ) and you are armors worst enemy IF you are very sneaky. If your out looking for armor than you asking for death to come to you. Instead try looking for opportunities to slip past a teams defense and pop up behind enemy lines. NOTHING and I mean NOTHING will prevent you from taking down half a squad before you are blown away by a grenade ( or M203 ) or multiple guys aiming for you.

I learned how to manage the sprint using this method. Hide and surpise.
As for long range, the pistol is as good or better than an AK if you have the element of surpise, or good accuracy.

EA has done more damage than good with this patch. Guess I'm the only one that suffers from this problem. I have a 5700 which means I just make the requirments for BF2.

Now this new patch has really hurt my framerate. The game now forces some messed up textures that give surfaces like concrete a shinny look. No way to stop it from staying on. I was running a respectible 1024x768 with a few settings on high. This patch now gives me less than 30 fps on 800x600 with everything on low when in a place like the construction site on Sharq Penn.

Thats a real nice way of EA and nvidia telling some of us that we need to upgrade to continue to play this game while staying competitive.( I really hate corporate America ) Besides that little load of B.S the new patch failed to fix the AA. Still leaves your field of vision and goes for friendlies. Everything else seems very good. The status bar works again. Lol

So, seems like good news to anyone with a good video card.

Mine is a little more simple. I enjoy what most take for granted. The simple art of driving a buggy off the Kubra Dam and exploding on impact always makes me laugh. BOOM !  Subwoofer shaking the walls. LMAO

This game makes me laugh when I need to.

After learning about this great page I found out that my first account had no chance of obtaining all possible awards so...  I started a new account with one goal in mind. Earn every award the game has to offer. Sounded like fun to me, and it still is. Started playing on any and all servers out there. 16,32,64 man servers. After about 30 rounds and having lost half of them I realized I needed a more controlled environment. The answer ?

16 man servers.

I am not in a clan and don't know people that play this game so I'm pretty much a lone wolf when it comes to playing BF2. This was definitely a hurdle but, I knew I was going to rip apart anyone that crossed my path so it did not prevent me from trying for that little bastard of a ribbon.

So off I went. Some nights winning 15 rounds in a row. All that was needed was 3 great players. Myself, and 2 guys that give more damage then they take. Joining servers that were finishing the round really killed my win/loss ratio but I got over it and played through.

Did I team switch ? Yes. I did about 5 times total and when I did it was because of people that would drive away from me as I was capping a flag and giving them orders to help me ! Some people don't want to win they just want to play. Fine. Nothing wrong with that but, holy crap did that S@#$ ever piss me off. I would change teams after the round if I could of just leave and take the loss.

Being an active commander really pissed some people off and I'm not sure why ? I was able to give out what people needed at there request no matter what I was doing. UAV,supplies,arty, I did it all while on the move.
Yes I agree a commander should camp to help his team but there is ONE exception. In 16 man servers you need all 8 players helping. I only earned 8 points one game as commander. No big deal right ? I KILLED 26 AND DIED 8 TIMES ! So don't tell me that's not teamwork.

So yea, I'm proud of my achievement.

So for all you people that think the war college ribbon is impossible to obtain, here is the proof that it can be done without being cheap. I earned my fairly and it was damn fun.

It is possible to obtain with a fresh account. 16 man servers are the key.
I played most of my 100+ hours on EA Official east coast servers. If your in a clan then it's that much easier.

I be playing to obtain all those pretty little awards and ribbons. They are a challenge that keeps me coming back. Teamwork when it shows up. It's what makes the game unforgetable. And those great moments like when you respawn and your character gives out his dying sigh. You know, the " AAAWWWW "

Sadly you are right Mars. I'm from Canada and it is trully amazing the news they feed to people. The bulk of that story was that there was a problem with the imigrants in France, not the problems with the way the french govenment has handed things over the last 20 years. If there was no ranking system do you beleive this game would hold the same value ? I think not. All theses make beleive medals and ranks bring people back. Why not rank up again ? Some small accomplishment while you waste time playing is a nice little reward. I think it would be nice to see the option to start a new SF account with your current  name, or just carry all your points over to the expansion.

Or maybe the expansion will open up new awards and medals that require you to start from the lower ranks again. Would most of you pass that up ? Of course this is all make beleive right now but I would enjoy earning some new crap the game has to offer. 

Hell, I'm not even buying the expansion ! I just love this page.

I stand by my Ps systems becuase they are pain and problem free. Stick the game in, enjoy. Always works, rarely crashes ( maybe one a month if your luck is horrible ) and many people have runined many online environments so good old singleplayer is going to make a comeback and the PS3 will be like the 2 before it.

The hardware never changed but the games always looked better with every passing year.

Had a friend once that only played pc and hated console. His loss. Nothing like a group of friends drinkin at home, fragin eachother on a nice 50" screen. Oh yes, the much hated split screen. Lol.

Everytime I did hop out I quickly checked the team scores are the 2 kids that demanded the helo have the highest deaths to kills ratio in the round.  It costs me my life most of the time I do get in the helo becuase alot of kids can't fly anyways. I have not used a helo in about a month and I hate that I can't enjoy the game some times.

I have never fired a gun in real life. I have no desire to do so. I have played many games and have come to a conclusion. The M16 is a burst fire rifle, the AK is a full auto. Full auto is going to save your ass in close quarters combat but, the M16 is more accurate and requires more patience and precision. My opinion...

Burst fire is more deadly, more accurate, and will save your life in ranged combat. It demands more composure to fire.

Your an idiot if you assume burst is more effective in close quarters but, your chances are better overall with a weapon that demands precision and patience.  If your clearing a building with a weapon that is not fixed with full auto I would question the higher authority, not the experence of the officer beside you.

I would choose the M16 as a weapon to defend my life.

Being Canadian I say the M16 owns with pride considering our M16 variant is full auto.

Yea, was playing on S.S ( stalemate ) and I watched a spc ops dressed like a teamate ( Chinese ) run towards the nearest flag. All of a sudden the flag started to drop. So I put one round into him. It says don't damage your teamates. All of a sudden he turns around and blows me away and the text reads

I played the socom games when they were released. After about 3 months everyone had all the maps figured out and the use of all the weapons. Then the bulls#$% begin. People would vote you off if you used a weapon that did not have full auto. It was not a full auto only server. The whole game was like that.

And here we are, 3 years later and every timmy and johnny complains about getting blown up by an M203 round...

Yep. Got that. Using the DAO-12 often, and every now and then I will reload after exhausting the 12 rounds and it will reload as usual. After the 12 rounds are in it says she's all fully loaded but continues to load more shells in the cylinder !

Glad to here it's not just me with that problem.
