Fun>balance>realism
If I wanted realism I would go back to the Marines, not be playing video games.
One thing I think Dice does do well in terms of game balance is that with the super-powerful game features they require teamwork to be effective. TV missiles require a vehicle pilot doing their job, for instance. Tanks, too, really do need a crew of two to effectively ward off infantry. As it is with fire-and-forget Javelins. It takes a person of an entirely separate class dropping SOFLAM (and actively using it for full effectiveness) to make Javelins really kick ass, and even then a smart tank pilot will pop smoke and render them ineffective if you launch with one. Don't forget that popping smoke to break a SOFLAM lock requires first that the SOFLAM re-acquire its target and then the Javelin user...a very long time! Furthermore if a javelin user goes it alone they need LoS and much closer proximity to get a lock and, at that point, the tank will have a much better chance to see them and kill them...plus the tank still gets its countermeasures. Finally don't forget that your infantry using Javelin and SOFLAM need protection from enemies while they're standing around looking through their aiming reticles. While they're taking aim they're otherwise vulnerable and useless.
I almost think that, to encourage teamwork, they should take a nod to realism and make it so that someone manually targeting with a SOFLAM will render smoke ineffective. If you're sitting there with your SOFLAM painting a target manually then smoke really shouldn't be effective, and you should be rewarded for requiring two people's full attention to make it useful (three, really, if you count the support person supplying ammo). Dice could balance this somewhat by only making it work against vehicles, even aircraft...if you're centering the target in your reticle and properly aiming the laser you should indeed hit your target. Think of the missile launcher from HL2, only one person operates the laser and the other the missile. If you want to balance it further give the SOFLAM system a "battery" that runs out after a certain amount of time and requires resupply.

I loled at the CQ players that cant join premium only servers. Now thats some serious trolling.
All I want is to be able to:
-move the mini map to another corner, like the upper right corner
-adjust the color of the crosshair
-trade the blue mini map for a full colored one
-turn off and or move kill messages
-move objective marker to another point that is no almost dead center of screen
-skip kill cams in all modes

Commanding wasn't just about telling other players what to do or pissing people off with arty. It was about providing direction and support at the strategic level and letting players decide on what to do at the organizational and tactical levels. I would be happier in BF3 if I just had some clue as to which direction I should move in. I cant make any real tactical choices because I have no idea whats really going on across the map. I find myself usually running around in random direction encountering enemies like Pokemon battles. Its not fun at all IMO to always be surprised. Dont say MAV cause its rare that anyone uses it for their team and its scan radius is small as hell.

It has come to my attention that EA actually shut down one its official forums. This comes as no surprise as it was the primary place players gathered to criticize their games usually with much negativity. There has been no information regarding the the exact reason for EA's choice. Rather than address game issues EA thought it would be better to just turn a blind eye to them. It can be expected that EA will state they wanted to consolidate its members to the Battlelog forums, but we all know that's a lie, and if it isn't then its only because they have more control over the content of threads there. To me this is a simple case of going after the symptoms rather than looking for a cure. So where does that leave the former EAUK members? Some will migrate to the new Mordor forums, started in memory of the EAUK forums being nicked named that by the EA DICE community manager. Others will migrate to other forums. No matter how you look at it EA just cut open a tumor full of caner that will spread across the net.

It wouldn't matter if they lowered it to 5%. The first rule of any run and gun is "you stand still, you die" as soon as I think I have a better chance fighting as infantry I'm going to bail. Just imagine for a moment how unpleasant infantry combat would be if your player could barely walk at 32% and began to bleed out health. If there were no vehicle disable or bleed out players would risk being finished off to try and save their vehicle. Disable lowers the overall value of vehicles.
I also do not support health regen for any player or vehicle. This a anti-teamwork IMO.

-Want to use selective fire, full auto more effective at all ranges
-Want to go for objective, no commander providing intel, not fun to get shot in the back by a camper due to lack of ability to plan route
This game is bad for team play and tactics by design. Its not really the players. This game promotes K/D and unlocks more than anything else. Who cares about winning or losing? Hell sometimes Ill join a game just to load into a screen that says my team lost. I don't even see the point in having a team when I play this game. Its just me and whatever random enemy I encounter. I just randomly move about the map, never following or leading anyone completely clueless as to anything other than what is directly in front of me, unless Im camping with a shotgun near my TUGS or MAV. The only place you will find any teamwork or tactics in BF3 is in the CoOp missions, which most people only play for the unlocks.
Whenever my screen gets blurry from suppression my eyes always try to refocus. The end result is having to walk away from the game with sore eyes and a focal point fixed at about 10 feet in front of my face. On occasion I will get repetitious rapid eye movement from left to right. Its really freaky when that happens. I think that maybe due to the constant screen shaking. Between the game lighting, coloring, tac lights and the overwhelming sun I also started getting headaches. Currently I am not even able to play the game because it gets worse every time I do.

I agree with this. MANPADs were a horrible idea inspired by noobs that couldn't use AA in BF2. They thought it would be nice to be able to lock an aircraft from some undisclosed location, completely undetectable, and spam fire and forget weapons at them with no risk of it attacking them back. My wish list for tanks:
-No vehicle disable for tanks unless done by an AT mine or TOW launcher to the tracks
-No health regeneration or bleed out over 10%
-No fuzzy camera when taking damage (this does nothing but impair a players ability to fight back)
-Bail moved to opposite side weapon is aiming so that players can finish the fight rather than get finished
-Remove 3D spot marker and 2D mini-map marker when smoke is popped (ECM does this for aircraft)
-Javelin to do 34% damage, 50% when combined with lase
-Increase vertical range of movement for main weapon. It does not aim high enough.
-Fix drifting problem when driving using boost
-Stabilize the driver weapon. Currently only the passenger weapon has any form of stability when moving across rough terrain.
-TV missile to do 97% damage on tanks without reactive armor, 67% on tanks with reactive armor
-In normal mode replace 3D spot marker in jet HUDs with heat signature box similar to when its being lased
-Increase range of proximity sensor by 65% of its current radius, Currently you cant detect a threat until its too late to do anything about it.
-Enemy equipment to be visible on mimimap when withing range of proximity sensor. Especially things like AT mines should be visible on it.
-Allow aircraft to dodge guided shells using ECM
-Guided shell to do 80% to transport chopper, 1 hit kill on all other aircraft
-Fix thermal or remove it. Currently its easier to see things at a further distance without it.

EA Policy on Selling Games on Third-Party Download Sitesjsnipy wrote:
sauce?
At EA, we believe in choice. We want our products in all the places gamers go to download the best games and services. To that end, we offer games to EVERY major download service including Amazon, Walmart, Gamestop, and Steam.
One of the most exciting aspects of games is that they just keep getting bigger and better. Both developers and consumers have evolved beyond the traditional model that used to limit us to 15-20 hours of play on a typical disc. Today, post-launch downloads of new maps, vehicles and other content extend the experience, adding hours of fun and a lot of value.
Every download site that hosts our games sets business terms for our relationship. These terms are often complex, but the goal is to provide a hassle-free experience for the gamer. Prices, content exclusives, and loyalty programs may differ from site to site. Consumers can pick the site that bests suits their needs.
Any retailer can sell our games, but we take direct responsibility for providing patches, updates, additional content and other services for the individuals and communities that play our games. These players are connecting to our servers, so we want to provide them with the very best service. This works well for our partnership with Gamestop, Amazon and other online retailers.
However, when a download service forbids publishers from contacting players with patches, new levels, items and other services – it disrupts our ability to provide the ongoing support players expect from us. At present, this is the case with only one download service. While EA offers its entire portfolio to this site, they have elected to not post many of our games. We hope to find a mutually agreeable solution to this issue soon.
Going forward, EA will continue to work with download partners and continue offering our games for sale on all major download sites.
The good news is: you’ve got plenty of choices.
Basically EA didn't pull anything from Steam. Steam dumped their products because they don't like EA's terms. Here is your sauce:

BF3 will be availible on Steam if the company agrees to the terms set forth by EA. EA wants full control over distribution of content for its new games especially a game as big as BF3 is projected to be. Before this topic there were many topics asking for mod tools. We all know that isn't going to happen because less people will buy DLC if unlimited free content, better than what the developers is making, is being distributed. Just look at Euro Forces and Armored Fury for BF2. During its best days maybe 10 servers were populated out of 4000+.
Well it really sad how pathetic some people are that they would go the lengths to hack a 6 year old game. For now I'm just playing on another server. Also with BF3 coming out soon, this isn't a show stopper.
A few years ago there used to be hack that allowed a person to crash a specific player to their desktop. Now Im seeing one that actually crashes the server and allows people to ban players they don't like without having admin rights.
Last night while I playing on the "LeetServers 1.50 Beta 64" it began to resets every few minuets. I kept rejoining just to see how long it would do that. Eventually the constant resetting emptied the server out except me an maybe 2 other players. While waiting for more players to join so the match could start the strangest message came up three times in a row.
"BANNING Evil_Black_Fox to make room for admin" Usually its a kick to make room for an admin, and usually its not when 60 slots are open for people to join.
Of course I already know it must have been someone I owned so hard they couldn't take it anymore, but since I have no idea what the servers webpage is I cant appeal it.
