Hold up, you haven't actually identified whether it's the RAM or motherboard at fault from what I can see. If you RMA the DDR2 RAM and it's the board at fault you're just gonna get the same problem again surely.

Is your friend's RAM DDR2? If so, can you try his RAM in your board?

Could it be a problem with one of the DDR2 slots?

Showing my ignorance now, but can you put a stick in one slot and benchmark it, and then move the same stick to the other slot and see if it makes a difference?

Well if the beta of NS was anything to go by, I downloaded it in 10 minutes from EA link and I'm only on ADSL. The beta appeared to have all the content, at least there was nothing missing that I could see, so I don't know why it should take hours to download.

I'll be pre-ordering when I get in from work tonight.

First unlock was the Ganz, and I hated it, but since 1.10 I'm starting to like it now.

If it's £10 I will still buy it as it does give you slightly more for your money than the BF2 EF and AF booster packs gave you in that it has 3 new mpas and new vehicles a la AF/EF, but it also gives you new tools and weapons which will be usable throughout both NS and vanilla 2142 maps which EF/AF didn't.

I wonder if the HMV preorder is a typo and it should be £7.99?

You can pre-order it from HMV.co.uk for £17.99 and I think they're dillusional if they think people will pay that for a booster pack. If it's on Amazon.de for under 10€ then I can't see it costing any more than the BF2 booster packs, ie. £6 or $10.

Maps don't take as long to load in BF2142 than they did in BF2, but I find in that time I can make the mech walk along walls n' shit.

On topic, changing the colour of the crosshairs is widely known, but not everybody knows about it. The washed out colour schemes of the 2142 maps really do lend themselves to using a different coloured cross hair, and it also changes the colour of the cross hairs in the vehicles.

Cadbury's Roses over here don't have turkish delight in them anymore, which is a shame, and they no longer have coffee cream, which is a travesty. The orange and strawberry creams are by far the best in there though.

It's difficult to make any kind of comment here without a little more information. What exactly is the issue? What are the plaintif's reasons for wanting the flag removed. A simple "it offends me" is difficult to justify when it is the single most powerful image of your country's national identity.

It'll be very interesting to see how this story pans out. Can we keep it updated with more information when the newsies get there?

Heard this story on the radio 1 news this morning, the details were sketchy but it centred around something about calling some lass a "chav" or something. It hardly seems justification to take someone's life.

Please note, I said if you get the "There is a problem with your connection" AND the server crashes, you get nothing. IIRC, the TV2 servers give the "There is a....." at the end of every round but then they go on to finish the round and award points. You will get your points for these. It's only if the server crashes and you get booted back to the menu screen.

There's an open beta and a closed beta. The changelog for the two are different, with some extra things in the closed beta from what I've seen. The closed beta of course is part of the NS beta so there's probably extra stuff in there to accomodate the new maps and vehicles.

Well seeing as you don't have Office installed I don't think the compatibility pack will help you much. I think you need to find your Office disk.

The Office 07 beta had to be uninstalled because it has expired. This was explained to you when installing it, that it was going to expire in February '07 and that you would need to reinstall your Office after uninstalling '07.

Only other option is to buy Office 2007.

Okay, the $64000 question, you do have a legitimate copy of Office, don't you?

It integrates into office xp or 2003 and allows you to open, edit and save .docx files. Although, as stated on the website, you need to have all critical updates installed before installing this.

Just open word and you should now be able to read the .docx files.

Since when do EA charge this much for a booster pack? £17.99 is just ridiculous for the content. If this is right, EA need to rethink their pricing policy as this will make the uptake of this product very low and the number of servers running it will be negligible.

There are many things which can affect the time taken to verify data. Your graphics settings, the higher they are, extend the time for verification. The speed of your HDD. How fragmented your HDD is.

Try lowering your settings to low, and defragging your HDD and see if the tme is cut.

The map is blurred as it is a Northern Strike map, the health is blurred as he is in a Nothern Strike vehicle, and the dead guy is blurred because he is in a Northern Strike uniform. These are all to protect the NDA.

Nothing suspicious here, move along.
