As globefish already said, yes. We've had an absolutely massive price war in Austria and combined with the maximum prices that carriers can charge for certain services that was set by the EU, it's made for a very consumer-friendly market._j5689_ wrote:
Is that a common deal over there? We'll never see that here unless T-Mobile gets the balls to do it. They seem to be the only reasonable and innovative U.S. carrier left.
Don't take everything quite so literally. At the same time, though, there isn't any legislation (that I'm aware of) that puts caps on what carriers are able to charge their customers.KEN-JENNINGS wrote:
why would we feel stupid? It's not like we're willfully paying more because we're dumb.
What a stupid statement.
I bet you guys feel really stupid knowing I pay only €10/month for 1000 min/1000 SMS/unlimited data and no commitment for my service. XD
Not a bad idea. Needs to warm up a touch more here in Vienna, though.
It's still a project that's alive.AussieReaper wrote:

Hope they do eventually.
Here's an article with quotes from Blomkamp saying that he intends on making a sequel to District 9. As I recall, there was a link posted on reddit several months ago that went to a website that catalogued all the release dates for projects from popular directors and if no date was available, then the current status of the project (being written, pre-production, etc.) and District 10 was still in the writing phase.

I am really looking forward to this film. Been dying to see a trailer.
Apologies, I thought you were referring specifically to BF3.Uzique The Lesser wrote:

Don't take everything quite so seriously.
I watched that video before heading over to the shop to pick mine up and the video is from 2010 and it's now 2013. That was back when the mouse first came out, and as with any new product, there are QA issues. I checked recent reviews on Amazon and paid attention to the dates and it compared the old ones and it seems like issues like that are largely solved. Obviously I won't really know until a year or two or even three down the road, but we'll see. The build quality itself is absolutely fantastic and the software is much nicer than that from Razer.
The Logitech G9x wasn't in stock anywhere and it was more expensive in Austria than the RAT.
Like I said, I like it, so who cares, right?

What do you care? You're not using it at all, are you?
I'm enjoying the hell out of it right now. Just set up the different modes to control the horizontal scroll wheel (either adjust volume, scroll through tabs in Chrome or scroll left or right for working with my various giant spreadsheets).
Still trying to decide how much weight I want in it, but I'm loving it thus far. Plugged it in, set up the DPI and then turned on BF3 and it didn't take anywhere near as long to adjust to as my Lachesis did.
So now, King of the Hipsters, what have I done wrong this time?

My Razer Lachesis (1st gen) finally died. Had it for about 3 years and bought it second-hand but the thing finally gave up the ghost. The scroll wheel click stopped working and my attempt to fix it only made things worse. Went ahead and replaced it with a Cybord RAT 5. So far so good!
Won these two auctions recently:

http://www.ebay.at/itm/151019422039?ssP … 500wt_1414
The first one has one camera that I have to repair and one that should work flawlessly. Unfortunately the lens is completely destroyed, but I should be able to get at least €30 for each body when selling it to a shop here in Vienna or privately.
The second auction is one I'm going to keep for myself. Turns out it's not a regular T3 as indicated but rather the improved upon T3N! Those usually go for about twice what I paid (with just the body alone), so I made out like a bandit since it's also got a lens. Hell, the Konica Hexanon lenses alone go for at least €50 or more in many cases and I got the camera and lens for less than €40.

Yeah, wasn't terribly thrilled with the way they left the season this time around. The ending to the first two was much better, this seems a bit forced and left too much hanging. Very sloppy this past episode. Also very pissed off about a certain event. Totally unfair.Wreckognize wrote:
That season finale sucked. Actually, the writing this season has been terribly sloppy as well. The show is still entertaining to watch but it feels like a grab bag of action and horror cliches and no substance. Zombies are fast becoming played out in a big way.
You're right. Once TWD hit success, it's been one zombie thing after another. I mean, before you had Max Brooks's material and the Left 4 Dead games, but it never hit mainstream quite like it did until TWD came along.-Whiteroom- wrote:

Haha, yea but if you drive a car with a stiff clutch, it's almost cheaper (and safer) to go to the gym.
The double-clutch transmission that the VW Group developed is faster than any manual transmission, hands down. When the 997 was introduced, only the Tiptronic and the manual transmission were available at launch and I recall an interview with a Porsche engineer in Motor Trend (maybe Car and Driver?) that said the Tiptronic was already faster than the manual transmission with little power loss and the double-clutch system was going to be even better.13urnzz wrote:
why would you ever consider buying a car with an automatic transmission? are you an american?
I would also always buy a car with an automatic transmission unless I was specifically buying a sports car. If I'm just using the car as a mode of transportation, I don't want to row through the gears in traffic, especially considering I live in a city. It's pointless and puts unnecessary wear on the mechanics and the driver.
Dilbert, you can also look at the Toyota version. They are the exact same car, just with different badges. Perhaps you can get a better deal on one at the dealership?
Haha, tell him he's an idiot and doesn't know dick about Android. If you're still at 2.2 or below, I can understand why you might want to have a task killer app installed but other than that???
Just helped my friend buy (with my uni discount) a Thinkpad T430 with the internal Ericsson broadband modem and a Samsung 500GB SSD... I can't begin to describe my jealousy right now, lol.
Girlfriend got me the entire series on Bluray today for my birthday. We laid around on the couch and watched most of the first disc. It's real interesting having seen the entire thing and going back to the beginning - there are lots of little signs of things to come.
OK, I'll bite...
The film was 1 hour and 35 minutes long. "Judge Dredd" by comparison was 1 hour and 36 minutes long, but had a great deal less action in it. The action in Stallone's version was always very quick but because they had a much larger budget, they could spend it on showing you the world in which Dredd lived. They had the money to build the various sets and locations that "Dredd" most certainly did not have.
In "Dredd", there were a few scenes when it was instantly clear that they were shooting in front of a green screen and combined with the CGI, it was a bit distracting, but the rest of the movie was still quite good. In the case of "Dredd", once you were locked into your seat, the action never really stopped - it was a very fast-paced film whereas "Judge Dredd" didn't have this pacing at all.

Saw Dredd for the first time. Absolutely brilliant movie - loved the whole feel of it. 7/10, maybe even an 8. The blood CGI was a bit goofy, but it wasn't that distracting and the story was good. Simple and to the point. I suppose if they do a sequel then they can dive more into the Dredd character and this was more a movie about getting you hooked and telling Stallone's film to take a backseat.
That being said, I wish they had taken a few cues from Stallone's flick in terms of adding depth to the universe, but the movie clearly didn't have a large budget, so you have to make cuts somewhere. The movie didn't suffer from it, though, if you've seen the Stallone movie and already know a bit about the Dredd univerise.

What in the hell is that monstrosity? Is that supposed to be Ferrari's new hyper car? It's like an Enzo fucked a 458.
Still have to wait until April 19th before the German Bluray comes out. Never going to watch the German version, though, obviously. It's times like these that I hate living in Central Europe.M.O.A.B wrote:

It's about the kidnapping of Natascha Kampusch, a 10-year old Austrian girl who was kidnapped and then held for 8 years before escaping from her captor. There's not a terrible amount of dialogue in the movie, but there most certainly doesn't need to be. Definitely a movie that should receive more attention from international audiences and since it was filmed in English, there's really no excuse.

I saw it in German, so I have no idea how the English acting is, though apparently the actress is a well-known and well-respected woman from Northern Ireland.

Yeah, there were two of them in the shop running around and the larger one decided to chill out for a few minutes. Two very beautiful German short-haired pointers that were very sociable.unnamednewbie13 wrote:

Not sure if any of you have seen it, but Larry Crowne was quite good (I know it's a bit old, but it's been on my watchlist for a while now). A nice "feel good" flick (not sure if that's a good description at all, though) with plenty of light moments in there. Stars Tom Hanks, directed by Tom Hanks, written by Tom Hanks. Good movie and even Julia Roberts has a few good moments. Bryan Cranston's little bits were hilarious. If you like laughing at stereotypes, it's a fun movie.
You're not discussing anything at all, though. You're on a soapbox. Jay is saying your points are irrelevant for him and he doesn't even actually engage you, yet you still write a wall of text that no one cares to read.
I have posted ratings in the thread. I don't do so regularly because I can't always find the time to sit down and watch a movie for a few hours. Curse of being extremely busy with work and uni and maintaining a household.
Sorry Uzi, but you make valid points on some topics, but far too often you stand up on your soapbox and dictate how culturally superior you are to all of us. It's old. Boring. I read the first few posts of your "discussion" (read: one-sided rant) and just scrolled past. Honestly, I wish you had some kind of an avatar or signature that stood out more so I could identify your posts faster and just scroll on by. Do us a favor and take care of that, mkay?
If you want people to actually engage in a discussion with you rather than just ignore your rants, might I suggest a bit of tact? Certainly you are well spoken, well read and well educated, but you don't have what they call "the social skills".
Respond as you will, I know it's in your nature. I imagine some jab at being a fat, uncultured, uneducated American or some variation thereof will be in there. Perhaps a call-out on my moving to Europe and now thinking I'm better'n everyone else. Maybe. Less likely. More likely you'll just open your thesaurus and just spew whatever hateful vitriol just happens to be rolling around in that noggin of yours. Have fun.
EDIT: the first rant was with Jay. You had a few posts with Dilbert. Scrolled right past 'em because it looked like another rant. Now I'm done.

I heard a rumor that they are using this one as a set up for a fifth movie in which Bourne returns that is based on another Bourne book written aber Ludlum's death.
That's entirely possible. There are certainly films I've seen (I can't think of any at the moment) where the German dub was vastly superior to the original and vice versa.
Gangster Squad - 8/10
This is now one of my new favorite movies. I saw it in German last night (girlfriend's best friend doesn't understand English very well), so I can't comment too much on the acting but I really enjoyed it. The story was great, the pace was well done. I suppose the only reason I'm docking it a few is because it was somewhat predictable in the way it would play out, but that didn't stop me from enjoying it.
EDIT: OK, apparently the acting was a bit bad in the English cut? At least that seems to be the general consensus on Wikipedia's reception section. Sean Penn was apparently really goofy, but obviously none of this comes through in a dubbed version... I enjoyed it, though, so fuck the critics.
