Ill give the keyboard a shot and see if it works. Thanks for the input about the mobo. Ill let yall know what happens with the keyboard.
Hey everyone, I just thought I would post up a problem that Im having with my desktop PC and see if anyone has any ideas to help me narrow down the problem. The PC worked fine before I left for my deployment, and worked fine up until about a month ago. My neighbor had used my computer to download music since he does have one, and ironically, soon after, my PC started getting screwed up. My guess is there is a virus that has completely jacked it up. Now Im home, and Im pissed because Im having COD4 withdrawal, and cant play or do anything because the PC is screwed. Heres whats up.....
1. Two days ago, the PC would load up to the desktop, then freeze, then crash.
2. Today, the PC will turn on, and it goes through boot process, once it starts the Windows XP logo it crashes and starts over.
3. I can enter the BIOS settings, and make changes, which I did to remove the floppy drive because during boot process it notated an error with it...so I removed it.
4. When I try to boot with the Windows CD, it reads it, and tells me "To boot from CD, press any key" - no matter how many keys I hit, it acts like the keyboard isnt working.....but I can use the keyboard to enter and navigate BIOS.
5. Ive tried booting into Safe Mode, but again when I get to that screen to select Safe Mode, the computer wont register that Im hitting keys on the keyboard.
Part of me leans towards it being a MOBO issue because of the keyboard stuff.....but thats only about 3% of me, the other 97% of me leans towards a dead HD. Let me know what you think, if you have more questions ask, and I will answer.
Thanks for the help

Hey everyone of the BF2s community. It has been a very long time since I have been here, but I am still lingering around. Hopefully some of the people I made friends with still remember me, and Im sure some of you, probably many new people, dont know me.
First of all, Im dropping in to say hello to everyone, and see whats going on in a community which I know Ive probably spent more time than necessary in lol. Things seem to be mostly the same, just a few different names. I hope everyone is doing well, and kickin some ass on either BF2 or COD4. I bought it and played it right after it came out for about 2 weeks, then had to leave it all behind for awhile, so Im a bit out of the loop. Its good to stop in though, and when I get back home, I will be an active member again.
An update on me (for those of you that care, or have nothing else to do but kill some time)
Ive spent the last good portion of my enlisted life in Iraq....and still there currently. Ive seen things I never thought I would have seen, and been places I have only read about. Yes, Im in the Air Force, and my life isnt nearly as hard as some folks in the Marine Corps or Army have it, but dont be fooled by my Chair Force job, its not as...."desk oriented" as most. Taking a look back on my time here, everything I thought I ever knew about this place, has pretty much gone out the window. I realize that a person is naive of how it actually is here, until you go and spend a good amount of time there. It has brought on a new respect to the vets that have served here and other wars before, and the ones that are here now. This kind of place takes a toll on you, regardless of what kind of job your here to do. I realize the sacrifice required, where as before, I thought I did and didnt know anything.
So thank you to all the vets, regardless of what conflict/war you served in, you have all of my respect.
I hope to be back in the forums with you all soon, take care, and I will check back in at a later date when it is easy to access again.

My point was that even though there are more memorable ways to spend spare time, gaming was just one thing ALOT of people do to have fun. Plus, it doesnt cost money (time wise).
Anyway we were talking about things we both like to do, and I have tried, just for the hell of it, to get her to try BF2. When I asked her, she had a look on her face like I just asked her to eat my shit.

Ive always been annoyed by cops where I live, but I cant say too much about it since being Security Forces, I AM a cop for the Air Force lol
Yeah. Seeing as the AF used to be part of the army, it makes sense. The AF is like the air power for the army, where as the navy is the air power for the marines.GunSlinger OIF II wrote:

Actually I, being Security Forces, am the one protecting billions of dollars worth of investments, personnel, and assets. Combat Control is out being attatched to Marine, Army and Special Forces units sighting targets for air strikes. Combat Control are some bad asses, I would take CCT with me over SEALS any where. No offense to Navy personnel, or anyone that may have been a SEAL, because they kick some ass.Skorpy-chan wrote:
I suppose that makes sense. You're sitting around protecting billions of dollars of investment and enough explosives to match a small nuke, of course you spend 14 hours a day training.
So, do you have any sadistic security drills like the Navy does?
(Such as 'if someone is trying to board the ship, urinate over the side onto them')
But here is the actual job description www.airforce.com gives for CCT -
"Combat Control Apprentice
The job of the Combat Control Apprentice is to set up assault zones in remote and sometimes hostile areas. To ensure that you can perform your job anywhere at anytime, you will receive training in precision parachuting, fast roping, rappelling and amphibious techniques. Survival training in various climates enables a Combat Control Apprentice to function under the most demanding conditions. The unique qualifications of Combat Control make them the farthest reaching communications, command and control asset for both ground and aircraft commanders."
Sounds like your typical chair force job doesnt it?
You should meet Combat Control, they can out PT any special forces......and yes, that includes the SEALS. They get up and spend 14 hours a day doing PT basically. I only know this because we had a guy on our team that was re-classed to us from CCT. Security Forces is the ground force of the AF, so we only fly when we are going somewhere, and then we protect the people, aircraft, and supplies.Skorpy-chan wrote:
Florida? Isn't that full of swamps, crocodiles, old people, and flies?
Although you're on a Chair Force base, so all but the latter will be excluded. Have fun being eaten alive.
And yes, I call it the Chair Force. Because, according to the guy on another forum I frequent who uses the phrase, you sit on your asses doing nothing, then fly around for a while, drop stuff on the wrong guys, then fly home to a hot meal while the people doing the REAL fighting are huddled around a hole in the ground, wishing that the fire they want wouldn't attract bombs.
He makes an amusing argument, which is good enough to use the phrase.
Im sure youll get adventure stories if they ever happen lolYaocelotl wrote:

AHA! The one person I was actually hoping that would respond....because you being a fellow Airman in the past would have some idea about SO squadrons. From what I hear, I could end up in all kinds of places because I am going every where Spec Ops goes to work with them and support them. On the other hand, Im curious to see if its just titled as an SO squadron, yet I dont do anything different than a cop at say....Altus, meaning gate guarding most of the time. I dont know, hopefully I get to do some cool shit at some point. Obviously Ill go to Iraq or Afghanistan, but thats a given especially with my job. Who knows, maybe I will have fought in Iran before anyone else even knows about it lol.
So I got my orders for the base I am supposed to be stationed at. Right now Im still in tech school, and will leave here in June. Suprisingly though, it was a base I put on my dream sheet. As of right now I am scheduled to be stationed at Hurlburt Field, FL, its an attachment to Eglin AFB in the Pensecola/Ft. Walton Beach/Destin area. Pretty sweet assignment for my home base. I really wanted a base in Florida to begin with, and actually Florida bases took up 5/8 spots on my dream sheet.
Something else that is pretty sweet about this base, its a Special Operations base.....I am slated to be attached to the 1st Special Operations Security Forces Squadron. What that entails I dont know, but one of my instructors told me that I will probably do very little police work and work with spec ops most of the time. Sounds pretty sweet, but Ive got no idea what I will actually end up doing. Only time will tell, so we will see. But I figured I would just let you all know.

Run down - A Dallas based pizza chain is accepting Pesos as a form of payment now, since they are located in mostly mexican areas and most of their customers are mexican.
So....are they gonna like having to change their prices every couple hours with the exchange rate fluctuating all the time? Because I cant imagine charging a solid 15 Pesos for a pizza, when at 1 PM 15 pesos is $3, and at 5 PM its $1.
Good luck to them I guess, I think its crazy.

NEW YORK - Civil rights activist Al Sharpton said Monday he is seriously considering a run for president. "I don't hear any reason not to," Sharpton, 52, said in an interview during an urban affairs conference sponsored by another civil rights leader, the Rev. Jesse Jackson. "If we're talking about the urban agenda, can you tell me anybody else in the field who's representing that right now?" Sharpton asked. "We clearly have a reason to run, and whether we do it or not we'll see over the next couple of months."
Sharpton mounted a long-shot bid for the White House in 2004, in which his wit and fiery denunciation of President Bush often enlivened Democratic primary debates. He dropped out of the race after losing several state primaries and endorsed the eventual nominee, Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry.
Despite widespread interest in the likely candidacy of another influential black Democrat, Illinois Sen. Barack Obama (news, bio, voting record), Sharpton said he's heard little substantive discussion of issues that might influence his decision about running.
"Right now we're hearing a lot of media razzle dazzle," Sharpton said. "I'm not hearing a lot of meat, or a lot of content. I think when the meat hits the fire, we'll find out if it's just fat or if there's some real meat there."
Sharpton said the candidate who impressed him most so far was former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards, who has made poverty the central issue of his campaign.
Sharpton ran for the Senate from New York in 1988, 1992 and 1994, and ran for New York City mayor in 1997.

Trl - just as lame as Carson Daly
Two-A-Days - I had enough practice in sports when I was in high school, I dont need to watch others do it twice a day.
