I recommend going at least once for the experience. As a place to enjoy good music, notsomuch. If you want to see an act at Coachella, expect to get to the stage a good 2-3 hours before they perform. Double that if they are a headliner.

Coachella was one of the first to use the 'throw as many acts from as many different genres as possible to get the most people in' festival templates. It's worked for them, but it sucks for a lot of people, because it's the only chance a lot of people have to see certain bands they like. Now I think it's spread over two weekends? Fuck that.

I've never heard of that festival you mentioned but I've been to my fair share of them and nothing I've ever been to has compared to coachella, positive and negative.

are you seriously one-upping him on festivals? festivals are the shittest way to experience live music. i haven't stepped foot on a festival ground since i was old enough to know better (i.e. 18+). over here festivals are the providence and domain of just-out-of-high-school kids getting drunk for the first time away from the parental grasp on a weekend away from home. it's intolerable.

its in montreal a weekend before lolla, usually most of who goes to lolla goes there first.

im realistically probably never going to pay the $5k it would cost me to fly there, get tickets, accomodations, fly back, etc. so yeah, this festival is quite the similar experience in terms of bands and festival feel but also is affordable and allows me to see the people playing without a telescope. oh and youre allowed alcohol anywhere, apparently you cant do that at coachella!?
