I read an article on this in a magazine. It combines BF2 with flag capturing and the RTS-feel of C&C. But I think they're trying to ride the Halo wave.

At least EA didn't soil the Tiberium name with Generals, and it was a little different from most RTS at the time. First time I've seen Chinese and Middle Easterns in Modern Combat in a strategy game. Then comes BF2 with USMC, PLA and MEC. Modern combat with Chinese and Middle Easterns in an FPS.

Originality, not much. At least they could've given PLA nukes and MEC toxin storms, but people would probably say it was imbalanced. Commander-guided particle cannons, drools. Jets better watch out!

And I played Renegade, it was alright. Plenty of weapons to play with, but MP sucked. As a matter of fact, many aspects of Renegade were added in BF2. 3D maps indicating C4, flag capturing, use of armour and jeeps, selectable kits.

Renegade MP didn't suck.

It wasn't good though.

But it was pure win being a Stealth Black Hand and then finding a sniper rifle randomly spawned in the map center, instant sneaky headshots anyone?
