I love it.

The fact is that some of you may have to admit Al Gore is a big fat idiot.

This blockbuster Senate report lists the scientists by name, country of residence, and academic/institutional affiliation.  It also features their own words, biographies, and weblinks to their peer reviewed studies and original source materials as gathered from public statements, various news outlets, and websites in 2007. This new "consensus busters" report is poised to redefine the debate.

While it is true that Gore is a hypocrite, look what else I found on this site: http://epw.senate.gov/public/index.cfm? … ity.Pledge

Quite an agenda here, eh?

This subject is so politicized now that it's nearly impossible to know what to believe.  All I know for sure is that asshats dominate both sides.

Funny that you would reference the government on this. It seems that the Bush Admin has done its best to sow seeds of doubt in relation to climate change. But hey dont take my word for it.

It seems that your government has been trying to dredge up Climate change sceptics for ages so it can appease the oil and coal industry. Your article is just another example of this. Personally, I dont think the Democrat controlled congress will do much better but who knows. There will always be doubters, when they publish we can look at their research and compare. Saying 400 scientists deny global warming is nothing compared to the the thousands of researchers that believe it is a big problem. 400 scientists doesnt = consensus busted.

ATG I find it unusual that you dont seem to trust your government at the best of times, however you are happy to believe their research now.

PS If I dont post for a while, I hope you guys and your families have a happy and safe Christmas.

Catbox, they arent trying to predict whats going to happen in small areas in a few days time. They are trying to see what happens if you inject billions of tonnes of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere that wasnt there previously. Current consensus says that the result is gradual warming of the earth.  Totally different to trying to predict weather in a few days.

Not a big fan of Al Gore myself, I fell asleep in " A convenient truth". Seriously doubt Gore will run for Prez ( he has denied it himself), will bet you karma if I am wrong.

Al Gore's idea was to raise awareness on Global Warming and it's effects. He achieved that. Although he may be a big fat idiot, I see no harm in raising awareness on environmental issues. There is no problem with creating less waste and helping the environment but there seems to be a constant barrage of people who don't want to alter their way of living even if it will help the world around them.

Even if Global Warming is complete bullshit reducing waste is still a good thing.

I've just had a little flick through this report and a lot of these 'experts' aren't even in the right field. After about 2 mins of checking I found 2 that weren't even remotely in the right field, they work in political studies and anthropology - not exactly climatology is it.

Yes.  Because this was not news, nor was it a valid study.  Yet he gets a Nobel Peace prize.  We have been hearing about the climate for many years, way before Gore invented the internet.  But it took him to get all the sheep together and cause some mass doomsday hysteria.

I agree with Ty entirely though - he got it done, and someone had to. The fact still remains that most politicians are rich assholes. Thing is you need money to be able to do a campaign like that, and at least someone stepped up to the plate.
Who cares if he's a hypocrite and a big fat idiot - he achieved his goal.

Someone already mentioned how the real focus here should be on polluting less.  Climate change is debatable and abstract.  The fact that more air pollution in an area locally contributes to respiratory illnesses has been proven time and time again.

Let's focus on the immediate reasons why polluting less is a good thing and leave the debating to political extremists.

WOW! 400! That's like, all the scientists in the world!

400 is an impressive number, but how many scientists are on the other side of the fence?  Where is THAT U.S. Senate Report?

While certainly interesting, It does nothing to answer the global warning question. Definitely shines new light on certain aspects.  But, it's a Senate Report, and greed and corruption has a fantastic filtering process.

The thing that most people SHOULD look at is Pollution.  Maybe it will fry the planet, maybe pollution has nothing to do with the planet's natural shifts, but when someone shows me some data on pollution being a GOOD thing, maybe then we can forget about the idea of reducing pollution.

I personally don't know what's right.  Kinda Because IM NOT A FUCKING SCIENTIST.  So rather than taking a side on the issue on the grounds of what politcal party you affiliate yourself with (sheep?) I kinda keep an open mind about either side of the issue, until the ones who really know, have a firm answer.

-This is not an attack on anyone in particular FYI--- Gone for the next few days cannot give a retort.  Check back when I get back.
