I read "Medical Advice" at first.

But Pagan's Mind and Dream Theater offer some amount of hours of good listening.

How can you listen to that awful swedis manwhore called "Basshunter"?! Do you even KNOW what he's singing?! Do you even KNOW what people listen to Basshunter in sweden?! TEEN GIRLS!

Oh, I cannot believe that someone can actually listen to that garbage that the swedes call music... *Faints away into a far away mumbling*
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

My recommendations are:
Hard rock -> Gotthard, AC/DC, Pink Floyd, Submersed, Disturbed, Seether
Metal -> Steve Vaie, Joe Satriani, John Petrucci, Jordan Rudess, Dream Theater, Sympthony X, Metallica, Dragonforce

Hope you enjoy those... Gotthard is great, hard rock bordering on country. AC/DC is a classic, so is Pink Floyd. Submersed is almost alternative. Disturbed is quite heavy, can get repetitive. Seether is quite melodic.
Joe Satriani is great, guitarist of Deep Purple, I think. Steve Vaie learnt from him, also great. Jordan Rudess and John Petrucci both play for Dream Theater, which is my favorite band Personally, I love all their albums except their first, Train of Thought and Systematic Chaos - I only like those Symphony X is symphonic metal. Metallica is classic, and Dragonforce is speed metal.

Please try them

they are like rush with more members.  all of there songs are epic in length with a high pitched singer, and both from canada!.  I do like them though. assuming you know who rush is.    DT  are semi hard at times   but with a keyboards.  but not the crappy "final countdown" keyboards. more like deep purple type stuff.   are you even more confused yet?

Well, Jordan Rudess plays much less like Deep Purple... he's just... erm.. Jordan Rudess
They have the most abstract stuff ever... If you want to hear Deep Purple keyboards, go for the song "Just Let Me Breathe". It makes fun of MTV >.>

Thanks man
If you want chilled out music, go for Pat Metheny, or Enya... Actually, I find stoner-rock like Stereophonics and Audioslave's Chris Cornell quite relaxing, but maybe that's just me. Oh, and The Fray is really good if you're in a sorta depressed mood...
