reset?

i don't know what's happening, yesterday, i played on that new tampa map and i had +/- 24500 points, today, i sign in, connect to a game and my rank in the list appears as 'Private' and i had no unlocks so i switch back to BFHQ, there I'm still first sergeant so i switch back again and play for a while until i get a basic spec-ops badge
i stop playing and while I'm closing battlefield i see that the points i just earned were added to the 24500
i really don't get it... anyone recognises this or got an idea what's wrong with my account?

Yup, this is a pretty old bug. Switching to a different server usually clears this up.

It's how BF2 talks to the EA master server.

BF2/2142 use UDP which doesn't care if the data it sends actually makes it to the location. TCP/IP is slower but reliable because it waits to see if the packets being sent reach the location, if they don't it resends... UDP doesn't.

This results in EA sending your full profile back to BF2 with UDP but some data gets dropped along the way. BF2 then defaults a "faulty" returned profile to a basic one (private and no unlocks). Sometimes all the data comes through about your unlocks, but not the rest, so that you will be a private with all your gear.

I always smirk when I get killed by a private with a P90.

Edit -

In 2142 you get points for badges and awards so it's actually kinda cool to run into this problem.
