Everything keeps working because the oil doesn't conduct electricity....

(i think)

It doesn't I don't think, or else mechanics for cars and such would be fucking 10000 watt light bulbs.

Yes.
Would be interesting though how good it conducts the heat. And how it flows in the case.
Oh and the temperature of course.

actually

~science lesson~

its mineral oil and because its mineral it doesnt have any compounds in it,

therefore its pure

that means as there is no chemicals in the water/oil it cant conduct electricity as there is nothing to pass the electrons through the water.

if you were to fill a bath up with mineral water/oil lay in it and drop the radio or hairdryer in there with you, you would be ok.

disclaimer- dont try that at home ladies and gentlemen

Mineral oil wins over vegetable oil as it's clear. Still, changing the oil constantly could become an expensive pain in the arse, further the fans are not optimized for liquids. well, I'm quite sure it won't be long until there'll be some cases with a self-cleaning oil curcuit around...

Yeah, don't try it with mineral water, at least.
Mineral water mostly has even a higher amount of salt in it, so it'd even conduct electricity better than normal water...

It's cool and all, but I can see that burning out your fans pretty quick. Maybe with an entirely passive system though. I'd be interested to see what the temps are like after being left on for a a couple of days, just to see what the maximum the oil heats up to.
