BF2/2142 now unplayable :(

a lil while ago i upgraded my comp from 512mb RAM to 1.5Gb and a new ATI card 1600XT 256Mb.
Now every thing working great for a while but i started lag bad REAL bad i run and its laggy and find my self now were near where im ment to be and just lalty my ping has gone from a norm 20-30 to 110+

any ideas?

Your setup shouldn't affect your ping, I don't think. Isn't ping just a network issue?

i run every thing on min settings and its still really bad i did work great on mid/high for a while.

lol you have the same problem I used to have. it's network/driver issue. I fixed it by installing 64bit winxp too bad I don't know how to fix it any other way

Gotta be the network. I have a freaking Radeon X550 and 512 MB of Ram in this machine and I can still run BF2142 on low settings.

u could try using something to scan for ad-aware/bad cookies etc. also what firewall u using because i used to have issues with zonealarm which affect my ping badly.

did you reinstall XP after the upgrades or at least gave it a thorough wipe?

This happened to me very similarly. Basically you just play less demanding games because you are fucked until you get a new computer.

It's a shame, I have 2GB of RAM and a Radeon X1650PRO and I can't even play nearly at the settings that I should be able to play at. I have trouble with BF2 on medium at 1024x768.

Yeah. It's gotta be a problem with your internet connection/ modem / router (if you have one). Adding RAM and/or a new video card shouldn't make any difference to your ping. Ping is the time it takes from signals to travel between you computer and the server.

EDIT: I suggest you call your ISP.

Although ping is a server/connection issue, not your setup

Well im putting my ping down too that virgin took over telewest and have screwd it up i think(gonna change ISP's).
I installed the hardwere and tested it for a couple of weeks then decided for a fresh wipe to get it to the max and worked well for a while. all my BF's are unplayable cant play stalker that just freezes on me C&C slows down after about 10 mins of play and supreme commander is barly playable :S

A mate at work suggestest that my CPU may be running to slow so i checked my BIO's and that alright too.
I dont really wonna get a new PC yet im still waiting for new hardwere to come out or atlest prices to fall.
