Just some reflections from an aging man so bear with me for a couple of minutes while i dwell over some issues i have come across the 1,5 years i have been a member of bf2s !

I have been there myself and think i have many of the 30+ year old`s with me on this !

To often do i read statements from younger guys dealing with absolutes and the two primary non colors black and white, there is no room obviously for maybe`s or the 256 million shades of grey between the 100% statements in either direction.

I know sooner or later the lot of you will come to your senses and find out the world works a tad differently and wisely enough better than you originally thought, not saying you are not allowed to have your opinion - i`m just preparing you for the day you find out it was wrong or a twisted version of the opinion you will form later.

Yeah, nag from the oldie, i have been there myself in situations where there only was right or wrong, no inbetweens or nearly rights and wrongs. I was immortal at 20, i thought i had figured it all out when infact i didn`t know shit, wisdom comes with age and knowledge with education but none of them at age 20 even thought and of course you disagree

Most statements i have read comes in the DST section obviously - that's where the strongest opinions and absolutes appear and often do i see statements coming like a tsunami and the waves with interval's of a few seconds - that can`t be many reflected view`s among those - no background checks, no links to prove their point and no references to back up their statement - this is what you will eventually learn and hopefully get better at it for the truth is many of you suck at debating both for your own opinion and against others !

Reflection and checking and cross checking your views is the key to a successful debate, we need not agree on everything but the means of an debate is to come closer together and settle differences rather than widening the gap witch i to often see as the result !

Have a lovely evening !

Nice post.

When you started talking about black and white and the colors inbetween, I was thinking about Skin color

The last two paragraphs made me understand though

Actually there is only black & white, the grey you speak of is just a variation of black.
I admit that I don't debate well because my beliefs in certain areas are very strong, I am however very open to reason & logic. If you can prove the point of the post at the time I'll certainly agree with it.
I too am 30+ and am reading books on politics, philosophy & economics currently.
I discarded politics as all corrupt early in life but will no longer as the partys I oppose will not win by default from me any longer.

That movie and the other two aspects of its trilogy had among the worst scripts in cinematic history.

Back on topic; Yes, teens think that they can achieve/accomplish anything without any care, but that is part of molding oneself; some become mature, some get worse.

When I want pretty effects I'll watch computer animation videos.

The new Star Wars was a grotesque distillation of the original trilogy, completely lacking in any personality, combined with near-perfect special effects that were more subconsciously-disturbing than good old-fashioned puppetry.

Don't wish to further derail the thread, but this I feel I must say, most people who hate the New triology, hate it because they saw the orginal as a child, and as with most people, childhood memories are always regarded as much better then they actually were.  Looking back at some things I loved as a kid, I know see how they lacked any quality at all(looking at you power rangers)

im 22, and i already know that when im 30 or 40 my opinions will be completely different. i learnt this because looking back at my "know it all" views on the world at 16 were just as ignorant.

the main problem with age is by the time you "figured it all out" you've got grey hair and wrinkles lol

Oh yes, the fallacy of youth.
I can tell the 20 year olds here for sure you will not have the same feelings when you are 30 as you do now.

I had some very strong opinions when I was 20, that, if I had acted upon, my life would have been wasted.

On the flip side, one of my best friends is 59. He recently got a divorce. In one of those moments when he was spilling his guts he said, " you know Alex, I'm exactly the same, emotionally now, as when I was 15."

emotionally
That you carry with you forever. But, your opinions and attitudes about life will surely change.
Look forward to it, and know that I speak true.

Yeah, but the Jedi Council habitually kicked out people who strayed from the Jedi code to pursue the path of the Grey Jedi. Hypocrites.

Dammit I want to talk about Star Wars some more.
Trying as my role as moderator to underail threads, but seriously everything in the early trilogy sucked! There is no evidence of directorial talent at all and the script is terrible! I quote from the fight scene at the end of Episode Three:
Obi Wan: "Don't you see, the Emperor is evil!"
Talentless Hack: "Well from my point of view the Jedi are evil!"

Worst dialogue ever. I now quote the Robot Devil from Futurama:
"You can't just have your characters announce how they feel! That makes me feel angry!"

Sorry sorry sorry. Get back on topic fools!

That was the hole point of the thread TrollmeaT - the shades of grey between black and white is what i`m talking about !

Take the GW debate as a very good example:

Black says: Nothing we do effects the enviroment, nature itself is to blame !
White says: All we do effects the enviroment so fucking wake up and walk to work !

And then we have the million of greys in the middle, think a little, read a little, listen to both black and white and reflect a little - what does GW have to with me, ask yourself questions, ask people you know questions, form your own opinion based on knowledge and in the process gaining wisdom !

You can so very often read by a statement if it`s a reflected thought or just an adaption of another`s view or opinion !
