Ok, Im a bit peeved right now. And the only thing I can do is start a thread about this, for the members to discuss.

Currently as many of you know I'm in Iraq, and currently my unit is the backbone of the "Surge"
Anyways this post was made http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?id=71416 And it involves a video of US Service Members bleeding and dieing, getting CASEVACed. Honestly Me, Myself I see crap like this almost daily, I come to these forums on my limited down time to unwind. I personnaly feel Topics like this need to be nixed.
I reported the above post due to the video, and I was told it would not be removed, because it was holding a decent conversation.

I dont mind people posting stats or articles, but no more videos. Its tasteless and in all honesty I had to bite my tongue cause I was so furious and hurt after seeing that video. No More. Please, There are kids that flip through the forums, and there are service members trying to survive deployments, that do not need to be reminded about what a wounded or dead service member looks like.

I'm still on the verge of saying something that will more then likely get me banned. Im just trying to take the high road and get some other input on getting videos like that stopped.

Saddly, I believe the same video was posted several months ago.

People were calling the guys pussies.

Perhaps there should be stricter application of moving threads whos primary content is a video to the stickied thread for them in the junk drawer.

After, what was there to discuss about that video: " gee, they sound scaird " or " hey that guys praying, like God will help him. "

Kids shouldn't be in this section. If you aren't mature enough to watch a gory video, you aren't mature enough to have serious discussion.

And I'm sorry, but I have to say too bad. If you're offended by it, don't watch it. If you aren't sure, PM the author before watching to check.

And moving post consisting primarily of video is foolish. Plenty of threads start with video (many of the Creationism threads amongst them).

I agree, I am so sick of this fucking videos. They are tasteless and crude and usually taken out of context. What is it with people that need to see this shit. ????.

I don't mind threads with video. I dont care what this guys reasons he stated for posting this video. I feel it was to provoke those who served or those serving currently. I don't need to be reminded through a tasteless video That I face a risk of loosing life,limb or eyesight. 2 Purple hearts I think I know that well enough by now. The mods cannot or will not remove that video. Nobody needs to see videos of Allied troops bleeding , dieing, and praying while they are getting shot at, and watching they're brothers in arms die.
I dont need to see that and if need be I will leave these forums. I have seen threads get locked for way less then that video shows, I have also seen permenant bans for way less. If I were to post a video recorded from my T6 of my M2 shooting a few people who were firing RPGs, and dropping Anti armor grenades on my Stryker I would probably get flamed and banned. I choose not to share videos of violence or pics taken of dead insurgents (we use those to take pictoral evidence of the body, and the weapons systems, before the IA remove the weapons and bodies. Hell I didnt share my helmet cam footage of a dog charging one of my platoon members and the ensuing shotgun blasts to the head and body of the mutt. Some stuff just dont need to be shared. That video is one of them.

Just remember before you do that, Remember I'm the pussy thats outside of the wire for 12+ hours a day clearing anywhere from 100 to 200 houses a day, cause other units lack the manpower to control they're battle space. I'm here, fighting. I cannot be that big of a pussy.

Go ahead. I'm sorry, but I don't see why we should remove a video because it offends one member. Perhaps we should look at instituting a tags system for this sort of thing (to be fair to both he and the user, he said it may offend some but failed to give any indication as to the content and why it might offend).

I think we can agree that a certain post made by me, if taken seriously, was much more offensive, yet I didn't get banned, because you can't be banned for being offensive. You can get banned for being repeatedly and purposely offensive purely to be offensive (trolling/flaming), but not for just being offensive.

So? If the video's content is thought provoking I don't see a problem with that.

For the record: I do think that the OP was poor, as the video itself wasn't what I would classify as worthy as standing on it's own. My point is firstly that videos should be judged on content (i.e. is it relevant and useful) and not where or how they are used, and secondly that if certain people don't like the content, too bad, provided the content is acceptable according to whether it's appropriate and useful.

ATG: sorry, but just what it's your issue with that thread? It has generated (at time of typing) 83 replies of, mostly, debate and/or serious talk. So what if the content of the video wasn't to your taste or offended CannonFodder? That, by itself, is no reason to bury it away in the darkest recesses of bf2s.

CannonFodder: I hear what you saying, and I empathise. But if we all refrained from posting because someone somewhere might take offense then the forums would be a very very quiet place.

I'm not going to argue because I don't entirely disagree with the removal, but can I suggest that when mods remove things they say who it was? We're supposed to take it up with the mod in question if we disagree, yet often we don't know who it is.
