Hi. I have read many posts here to no avail.  I did do my homework but I did not find a solution.  Here goes.

I have a new computer with windows vista 32bit.  I installed BF2 as directed by a thread on this forum for Vista with all of the proper Compatibilty and Admin Privileges set.

When i load into BF2 in xp compatibility mode and aministrative privileges I get a CD-Key not valid response.  I tried updating the cd key.  Still no luck.  If i run BF2 without administrative priviliges the game loads and I play for a few minutes I get kicked with a punk buster message:  Inadequate O/S privileges...

I have been running xp media center on a different drive and running the same bf2 install from the vista drive without problems.  So it works at least.

I did recently have the same bf2 installed on a dift xp media center computer but I uninstalled it.

I dont want to have to load into mt xp install everytime I want to play because it is on a slower, older, drive.  Any ideas.  Thanks in advance for any help.

Update Punkbuster.

Repatch.

Try again. Other than that contact EA and tell them.

Officially, EA games do not run of vista so they wont help.

If updating PB does not help with the O/S privileges, right click on the BF2 shortcut, and select "Run As Administrator".  That'll get you back online.  You can also change the shortcut properties to run as admin as well.  give 'er a shot.

Look for the Vista Q&A in Junk Drawer.

Problem solved by you: uninstall vista and install XP. With that you´ll have complete EA support (if that´s called support).

Then what do you want? There was already a thread suggesting things to try. Do you think they are magically with holding information on purpose? If someone had a readily available answer to your question, I'm sure you would have gotten it. Vista is a brand new OS so of course there will be issues. Right now, it appears your only solution is to boot off the Media Center drive to play BF2.

If updating PB does not help with the O/S privileges, right click on the BF2 shortcut, and select "Run As Administrator".  That'll get you back online.  You can also change the shortcut properties to run as admin as well.  give 'er a shot.
Did you try that?

well I'm not sure what the solution is or what you're asking but,

I had the O/S privileges with Vista error here on another pc myself, I got it fixed:

Right click on desktop Icon > play as Administrator or something close to that,

srry that I couldn't be more helpful...
