Battlefield requires an connection of 1.5 megs down and a min of 256 up I think. Battlefield says on the box you need a Highspeed Connection. Cable, or DSL.

I get the same problems, and I have Road Runner Cable, could it be because I have router?

I had the same problem some months ago. The problem was my ISP, one of their routers was bad and kept dropping packets.

I have the same problem because of my dual core CPU (amd though).  I start BF2 then alt+tab out and set the affinity of bf2.exe to only 1 CPU and it works fine.

routers are the worst thing for bf2. because common (burps) often occur. these are when the Connection is quickly lost and regained.  BF2 cant handle this. (2142 can actually) so! thats my 2 cents.....maybe 3
