For those who have played already, are these similiar in handling to the BF2 choppers? Is there still a 2 seat role with some kind of tv-style missile? Just curious what to expect, thanks. I finally feel like I'm starting to get good at BF2 flying/gunning and I'm hoping these new skills dont go to waste in 2142 lol

Have you flown them? Is it similiar to BF2? ie: the tv missiles, the general flying mechanics, etc..?
haha I hope not. I got 2142 on preorder and I'm pretty excited to play, but to be honest I can see myself tiring of it after a few months and going back to BF2. Maybe not, who knowsBen>You wrote:

Quite simply, the UD-6 Talon gunship was built to kill. Nimble and deadly, this ultramodern, two-person, VTOL aircraft combines a multipurpose arsenal with a uniquely flexible flight profile, allowing the Talon to strike both air and ground targets with unparalleled force and accuracy. The Talon’s munitions include a gunner-controlled pneumatically charged, high velocity autoblaster and vectored thrust, high-impulse thermobaric missile launcher and a pilot-controlled rocket fire system. The dual-layered composite buffer system, with a depleted uranium mesh insert, is durable enough to withstand heavy fire without hindering the gunship’s maneuverability through excessive weight or rigidity.
Appropriately named Doragon, meaning Dragon, the Type 4 Air Mobile Multipurpose Platform (AMP), like it's EU equivalent, provides unparalleled usability and firepower in any theater. With a range of armaments, an active protective system, and a high-tech, 'anticipatory' flight control system, the Doragon is a highly mobile, dynamically potent, multi-situational assault medium. The Type 4 arsenal includes a semi-dumbfire missile cluster, employed exclusively against close-range, heat-trackable targets.

haha thanks. I have my future planned now, as a 2142 attack helo whore
two people in a attack chooper plus one stinger missle up their ass equals 2 dead noobs in the water..turkeybacon wrote:

*starts studying the maps, memorizing the stinger locations*specialistx2324 wrote:

There are currently two issues with the attack gunships in BF2142.
The first is that they, unlike the transport gunships, are incapable of landing in a good way. You can take of straight and you can hover, but strangely you cannot decent perfectly vertical, you alwyas have a bit of forward drift to "go down".
The second is the pretty much useless "tv missle" of the gunner. That thing is so twitchy that you cannot hit shit. I manged to get two shoots into a target. The first the guy i was playing with lined it up perfectly, i removed the mouse form the desk and hit the fire button. The second i was at point blank range. Moving that missle in its flight path, without sending it complelty in the wrong direction, is a thing thats close to impossible.

Yeh ive flown both and they seem equally matched atm (then again in totally ive only flown each 1 for about 20mins). The gun for the gunner, is very quick and deadly (kinda like how the blackhawk miniguns used to bed), whilst the pilot gets 10 missiles.
I have found though that the tv-guided in 2142, was very agile and sensitive to mouse movements so most the time id only hit (and kill ) half the time. But again, this was only on the beta; today EA announced that they've fixed 3000 bugs/glitches etc etc (as 2142 has "gone gold") and so this may not be the case anymore.

Who said stingers? There are no stingers you noob.
the AA is ack ack (if you DONt know what that is, die), and unguided EMP missiles

The only difference in firepower is the cannon cannot damage vhehicals, also the tv missile works different.

the gunships' gunner position is worthless imo.
Meh. The MG is good for taking out infantry. I could get some kills with the missile, but only when my pilot passed over the target strafing it with missiles...had to get perfect timing though.c0mplex1ty wrote:

Anyone been able to kill infantry with the drivers rockets? I tried several times to kill infantry with them but to no avail. Maybe they have zero splash damage, or are only good on vehicles.
Then again, I may just suck ass.

A bit of both They probally don't have very much splash. Seems to me it's about 5-10 feet, but I did kill 1 guy with it. Once.Volatile_Squirrel wrote:
