1.4 Error message. EA don't have a clue.

A problem after 1.4.

We have called EA support and they do not have a clue!?!?

The computer is good and we (my girlfriend) played 1.3 on it without any problems.

BF have been unistalled, reinstalled and patched to 1.4 again...did not work.

The whole computer was formated and XP reinstalled.
New drivers for everything and BF then patch 1.4 again.

It's possible to play BF when it is unpatched.
As soon as 1.4 is used the game crash when geometries are loading.

Is there anyone out there who have more knowledge than EA support???
The patch have been used on my computer and I have no problems so the patch it self should be ok.

Please help!!!

Full 1.4

We used 2 different 1.4 files from different places to be shore we did not get a corrupt file.
I used one of the files on my computer and there was no problem with it.
I can play 1.4 on my computer but my girlfriend cant...

Maybe turn off your anti-virus so it configures properly(when downloading patch). Once you have finished turn it back on.

Check to see if mdm.exe is running in the background via ctrl+alt+del --> processes, and shut it down if it is...then try running bf2 again.
(This is the MS debugging utility)

What the hell is the path in that error, anyway?

anti virus was installed on the computer after downloading the file...
so that should not be the issue I hope.

looks like the models for the p90 aren't found. these were added with the patch 1.3 as far as I know.

try installing 1.3 first and then patch to 1.4.

No mdm.exe is not running.

The strange thing is that D: is the DVD reader... did they know they would make patch 1.4 when the dvd was made???

aphrodite was found in the registry and I think thats where all your searches go...

Thought i was the only one having problems with 1,4 .....

Have formatted and installed Xp after failing to get 1,4 installed from 3 different sources i know others have used successfully, mine stopped installing at 8% every time

Have updated every possible driver there is, am currently downloading 1,4 from EA to have another go !

We have 2 different BF2 dvd's

So we have one copy each.

My girlfriend and here sister have the same computer spec.
They use the same patch.... and only one work after that...

Sometimes you wonder it EA hire ppl who have graduated from "The Microsoft University of Bug Creations and Shitty Software"

What Video card is she using and Drivers? Perhaps when Updating to 1.4 you also Updated the Video Drivers? Latest NVidia drivers in particular has some issues.

She is using a ATI Club 3D Radeon X800 GT PCI-E 256MB

And the driver is Omega Drives 6.7
But we have tried ATI's 6.8 too

try going into you video settings in BF2 and putting your geometry setting on low, it probably wont solve it but its worth a try

Well the CD look ok and if it was scratched to high hell BF shouldn't work in v1.0 or what it is called when it is unpatched.

It say D: but it (error mess) also say
version 1.1.2963-795.0.0 Build date 2006-8-18
File ....BF_1.4

That can not be on CD because it's the patch!???!

Now after many many tires it finally work again.
Of no reason but a cleaning of the computer and many tries it works.
EA could not help us so we tried and tried and tried.....

Wouldn't matter before or after. If the anti-virus did a scan when you finished installing it, it would still possibly cause problems. Did you put it on the anti-virus trusted list?
