At my job there is a bunch of cats who live in the back parking lot. A co-worker feeds them every morning and night with the bosses blessing. It is nice to see cats and kittens hanging out and watching you all day.

Every few months there is a new litter of kittens. Within a few days, most of the kittens go missing and never return while the mother and one or two are still around. We think raccoons are killing the kittens.

As much as I like kittens and dislike trash pandas, they are in some ways doing you a service. At some point you'd be overrun with cats, and that'd be your problem to deal with.

That's true. I was leaving my aunt's condo in my hometown at night and there was no less than 25 cats waiting to be feed. She said cat food is actually in the condo's budget.

The businesses and apartment buildings in my town all feed stray cats for their pest control abilities. The McDonald's and A&P both host their own cat colonies. I saw the manager put McDonald's out for the cats to eat.

The town has a literal cat "problem" that people have strong opinions about.

Sounds like a city by-law disallowing the feeding of cats not your own would reduce the issue. Or, as a trained policy professional, my preferred options would be to hold cat gladiatorial fights to refine the herd to only the choicest cats to maximize the efficiency of mouse suppression. But maybe not.

back from san diego

lot of fun.
zoo was a blast despite hesitation about zoos in general: too small of enclosures for some of the less popular animals. There were indeed some that were WAY too small but that's sorta life.
one things I was not prepared for but should have been was the mexican food. I forgot how good real mexican food was. If anybody is in the area, Tacos Perla in North Park is a hole-in-the-wall place and really good.
We went to a bunch of tasting rooms so that was cool, and damn the ballast point room in Miramar is fucking enourmous.

I really dislike the principle behind destination weddings. It's cheaper for the host often, and almost entirely shifts the costs to the guests who now have to also take precious vacation time to attend your shitty ceremony on a beach in Jamaica. Fuck off Chantelle, I'm not wasting cash and days to watch the beginning of the end of your worthless second marriage.

their excuse was that it was the same price. seriously. that it was the same price for fucking THEM. We know it's the same price for you shithead. It's SIGNIFICANTLY more expensive for all the guests.
Their backup excuse was that it was like a vacation. I get it, but strange as this may sound, I don't want to go on vacation to where YOU decide and when YOU decide. I'm gonna have my wedding in nunavut during christmas - don't worry, it's like a vacation.
Anyway, I still had fun but yeah I'm against the idea of it. I suppose I could have just told him to fuck off but whatever.

I was talking about weddings with a friend who recently got engaged and I'm evidently all for the idea of a destination wedding because it means you're less likely to have to interact with distant relatives and people only vaguely connected to you/your spouse. Less people in general, weeeeeee!

Destination weddings mean less gifts, shrug
"Ah, you miserable creatures! You who think that you are so great! You who judge humanity to be so small! You who wish to reform everything! Why don't you reform yourselves? That task would be sufficient enough."

Are you not supposed to give a gift when you have a destination wedding? I haven't yet with this one but they certainly asked for them - and expect them.

It's usually assumed that the cost of your plane ticket was their gift. For real

I had people fly in from Minnesota,  florida, north Carolina and Toronto for my wedding. I didn't expect gifts from any of them.

Edit: Oh yeah, someone flew in from Wales too!

yeah, destination weddings = no gift needed. My friend that got married in Thailand didn't get shit.  But I got him an Elvis impersonator for his rehearsal dinner because i'm like that and a good friend

destination weddings suck.

so i have to take some of my annual leave so you guys can spend the whole day half-ignoring every acquaintance you've ever made?

i hope the split is acrimonious and involves emotionally vulnerable children.
