Hello !

I would like to play bf2 on high settings...what upagrade would be useful ?
Now i have everything on Medium and no AA.
I tried to set a few things on high but it was pretty laggy and I couldnt play the way like that.
What would help to set it on higher without hardwarelag ?

My specs:

AMD Athlon 64 - 2 Ghz CPU
GeForce 6600 GT VGA - 256 Mb
2* 512 DDR RAM

Im really thinking of buying another 1 gig or DDR RAM (2* 512)
Would this solve my problem ?
Or what upagrade would be useful ?
Please help !

Thx

You do need more RAM, 2 gig if you want to run on high, and a new video card.

cpu is ok, only  a new video card, but if you want extreme resolution with you pc, buy a better cpu and video card

I play bf2 with all settings on high on 1280x1024(1600x1200 but than i got some time that its not to smooth) with a amd 64 4000+ 2 gig ddr and a geforce 7900GT

another gig of ram for sure.

I would also suggest turning down your dynamic light and shadows to a most, medium.  Most cannot tell the difference in quality of the screen, but performance is greatly enhanced it seems.

Running BF2 in "High Priority" helps more than you would suspect...  The only thing that sucks about it is that if you use Vent or TS2 it kinda cuts them out...  Try running it "Above Normal" first and tweak from there...

Sounds like you two have a different opinion of what is smooth

i have a pentium 4 3ghz
and 1 gig of ram
but i have a radeon x600

so if i want the game to run smoothly i run everything on low, ive tried it on 1024 with medium to high settings and it runs ok, but i want the frame rate and smoothness, if i upgrade just my shitty graphics card, would i be good to run everything on high, or would another gig of ram make that much of a difference too?

Well if im right its a 3200+
I dont have lots of $$$ for a new VGA but prolly i can buy another gig of ram...so i will have 2 gigs.
Anotherthing...do you guys think its worth to buy a Zalman VGA Cooler on my 6600 GT ? Coz its getting sometimes too warm.I see a lot of little green stuff on my screen..pretty annoying.
Anotherthing is RAM cooling worth or its just money wasting ?

U need a better CPU (or clock it)

I have amd X2 4200+ and 1 gb ram + 256 X850 xt pe / can run everything on high and 16x aa

Can even run hitmanbloodmoney on ultra settings and works smooth

The differences in BF2 between high and medium settings is really not all that noticable (with the exception of lighting and view distance).  I'd be more focused on frame rate and resolution.

No, 3000+ runs at 1.8 GHz.

But he should really have specified.

Get a new GPU - always the best upgrade for gaming. 7600GT or 7900GT are nicely priced options

since we are on the topic... I'm petty new to computers, and this is the processor I am looking at buying. Is it any good?
