Hey all,
Starting 7.10.2006 (the day after the Punkbuster upgrade), I started getting kicked with this msg at every server I go to:

PunkBuster
Violation (GAME HOOK)
#125003

I have done nothing wrong! What could cause this? At first I thought it was Ventrilo, but even with Ventrilo off, I got kicked with this message! Anyone know how to solve this? HELP!
TIA,

Well, I know a few others times when PB updated, people got banned for no reason. They fixed this not long after reports were made to them.

But, right now:

Cheat/Hack Violations:
When PunkBuster detects a cheat or hack by repeated positive identification on a player's computer, a violation is raised. These violation numbers are 50000 and higher. Families of cheats are listed below. Resolution: Remove cheats and hacks from the computer.
#50000s - Aimbot
#60000s - Wallhack
#70000s - Multihack
#80000s - Gamehack
#90000s - 'Cheat' Video Drivers
#100000s - Speedhack
#110000s - Autofire
#120000s - Game Hook
#130000s - Attempted PunkBuster Hack

So, apparently it's a hack/cheat?

And those are ranked from less serious to most serious, so you (not knowingly) preformed an action that is almost as bad as trying to hack Punkbuster...

As for what the hell is a Game Hook, I have no clue and I couldn't find anything on what it is.

Interesting.

On Thursday and Sunday the PB software was updated and I saw plenty of kicks when this happened, some of them labeled with #125003 gamehook message, esp. after Thursday's update. Manually update your PB client software - download PBSETUP from http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=dl-bf2.php and run it, it should fix your troubles.

Interesting.
It's probably some new hack he's using that allows him to climb the TV Tower on Sharqui like Spiderman

I can't remember exactly what a "hook" is but I'm pretty sure it's a script that is meant to bypass the games programming and download all the positions of all the players in a game for later displaying (basically the prereq to a wallhack.)

Although they can be used for other things, and there are such things as false positives...

Thanks for all the advice! I swear I am not cheating, which is the part that pisses me off... If I was cheating, then I would have no one to blame except myself... but i am NOT Cheating!!!

Well, its still not working - I opened up a support request with the PunkBuster guys... I'll let you guys know what they tell me, if anything...

A "game hook", in the days of old. When men were men and the lastest news was the crusades.... Well, amybe not THAT long ago, but in computer terms it might as well have been.....

A "game hook", simply means that you have a process running that is "hooked onto" your game process. Normally in an attempt to change the code on the fly. These things are normally:

1) A no-cd patch thingy
   -  Try reinstalling the game
2) An in-memory trainer or other 3rd party add-on
   -  Dont use these
3) Anti virus or spyware that scans (and for some reason wont release it's hold over) your process
   -  Try disabling your spyware or AV softwaare, and change provider if this solves your problem
4) A driver that identifies the BF2 process and attempts to "improove" your performce (ie: cheat the hardware testers to get better reviews)
   -  Try renaming the BF2.exe file and then start the game.

I remember hearing from someone that they had this problem and had to make a new account. turns out they were using an MP3 player that plugged into BF2. the catch was that the Mp3 player used code derived from a well known hack

Hey guys - found out the problem! heres a quote:

I just finished talking to PB tech support. The problem is that I have the DX9 SDK installed (I'm a software developer and I use DX9). At some point during debugging a problem I turned on the DX9 debugging which will now cause this violation.

To fix it all you need to to is go to the DX control panel and change it back to the retail version (under the Direct3D tab).

Plus I get a decent perfomance boost.

I was reading something about the "game hook" kick that had to do with direct x but it was caused by Vista not XP(in the topics i was reading). Sorry I probably should have mentioned it. I googled it after reading your thread.
