Indeed. It looks like a bigger version of Ghost Town, with the MEC and USMC....InviSniper wrote:

Exactly! People are so quick to make unfounded conclusions. Here are the facts:FrankieSpankie3388 wrote:
Did any actual source ever even say it was an infantry only map? And by that, I think they meant no planes/helis. It looks kind of like a mix between Operation Clean Sweep and Strike at Karkand.
A recent poster found a server running a newer version of the game with the map called "Road to Jalalabad" and most of the acocunts had "BF2", "Test", "EA", "Dice" or combinations of those in their names. It was also discovers that there was a new server setting called Bf2_InfantryOnly on that server.
If the MAP was designed as an Infantry Only map, then there is no need for a server setting. You just design the map with no vehicles, or only transport vehicles, or whatever they hell you want. If the Infantry Only setting is going to be used, it is a SERVER setting. In other words, that setting would be applicable to any map.
What the setting may or may not due is totally speculation at this point. Will it remove/diable vehicles in the current maps? That's probably a good guess, but who knows. Plus, since EA has made no official statement about this, it may not be supported in the final release. If they find that there are problems with it, they may decide to not include it in the patch.
man thats sweet, looks like a good city map, shame bout the tanks.
Very cool, but...what the hell is that thing stuck in the building? An airplane?
Yea, a F-18
my thought exactly. hmm....k30dxedle wrote:

What would a BF2 map be without a Hotel?
kind of reminds me of Mashtuur City in a way...
A Snipers haven...Good luck all.
EA says it's a server setting right on their site:

A few of the servers hosted will be set to the new ‘No Vehicles’ server setting that will allow players to focus on infantry vs infantry combat on all BF2 and Special Forces Maps. Other servers will include the new "Road to Jalalabad" map, sponsored by Comcast, which will allow US and MEC forces to engage in a new urban warfare environment!

New? So are Karkand, Sharqi, and Mashtuur all figments of my imagination or something?
Yes, it is new. As in, it hasn't been played before. They're not saying urban combat is new, just this environment.k30dxedle wrote:

Mashtarkqi anyone?
I think the map actually looks pretty sweet, Im ready to play the final version of it.
if you download the beta can you still play 1.3?
Snipers, support and medic player dreams people. Looks fairly good but this added health seems a bit silly. A greande by your foot doesn't kill you (infantry only version) - that is ridiculous.
It's an F15 IIRC. Half of it is stuck in the building, half is on the ground, except one wing that landed on the roof of the hotel. The smoke from the plane wreck can hide a sniper pretty good (see burning oil rigs in EF). Also, the fire will damage anyone who gets too close.TrashBlinD wrote:

having just played it i would say that it is more a medic havend3v1ldr1v3r13 wrote:

looks like an amateur map, even the desert combat ones were better.
the no vehicles servers allow jeeps? because a mashmur without jeeps could be a long way to get the gas station flags. Poor AT class EA hates them, crappy guns, nerfed rockets and now without job.
i remember when every bf1942 patch came with a new map, now with bf2 comes with a new bug/nerf.
