This thread has been inspired by the naval warfare thread, its an idea I've had in the back of my head for a while.

Wake is all too often a campfest for the USMC, right?  Sure USMC can sometimes have a good round but thats only if they have their shit together, and it doesn't take as much effort on the part of the Chinese to pin them down.

Its pretty obvious that the little "Artillery Island" was put there just to give the USMC a place to put their arty.  Personally, I think the island is a stupid idea.  The trees obstruct your AA missiles while allowing J-10s and Choppers free-reign on your position.  Its positioning means USMC still has one realistic "line of attack", meaning its harder to break a camp.  And, having played a fair bit of BF1942, I feel its just bloody stupid adding in an island like that.

I propose getting rid of it, and replacing it with another stationary boat which will serve the same function; give it cannons, a phalanx and some landing boats.  And put it somewhere else, like to the east or south of the Carrier, for example.  That way it'd be harder to camp the USMC right from the start as they'd have a wider angle of attack, and their AA would be more widely dispersed.  And it'd be a little more realistic/faithful to the original Wake Island

Yes, the AA on the island has 'the gay'. The only time I get kills from that gun is when i'm Chinese. Go figure.

What i think they shulda done, instead of putting the arty on islands or small peices of land like on oman, is they shuld have put a small destroyer next to the carrier like wake in bf1942.  The ship's guns would be the exact same as regular arty, but just look cooler cause they are ship guns.  I mean, it's no different than having the scan trailer or uav on the carrier.  Also, you could spawn on the destroyer and use some of those miniboats like they hvae on the carrier.... ehhh... just a thought

I say we need to do a direct conversion from BF1942 to BF2. They changed more than it looks like when they converted. We also need Coral Sea back; that map was the shit!

Thing is, the island just serves as a point for the USMC to be raped by PLA armour, artillery, choppers, jets and snipers. Its just a ticket bleed island

The just need to move the trees to the left a bit so I can see the friggen J-10 shooting it's gatling gun at me, and provide cover from costal snipers.
