THE CARRIER! Being on the carrier sucks when you have no able pilots or decent AH-1Z pilot/gunners to go in and blow up a tank and clear a way for either South, but specifically, North Village so the American team can move in and liberate that damn island. What really takes the cake though is this,

I had the most SHITTIEST streak of luck happen, naturally, we couldn't get off the carrier, or if we could, only one or two guys would manage to get on the island but that's about it... so the jets and commander were bombarding the hell out of the carrier and it was getting annoying so I decided to get on one of the USS Essex guns and start gunning the shit out of any J10's that came near... this is when it got really bad. JUST as a full Blackhawk was taking off ready to take off and head out to the island, a J10 shows up and I'm tracing a lock on him.

Amazingly, the J10 did something I'd never seen before and swung past the Blackhawk JUST as I hit a lock, and as soon as I saw that LOCK hit, I fired two missiles out. Fact of the matter is, he swung past JUST IN FRONT OF THE BLACKHAWK AND BLASTED PAST ME. Where did the two missiles go? Yeah... the blackhawk taking off. Seven teamkills show up and the server has a policy that if three tk's are punished, you're banned.

Naturally... ONE guy was nice and forgave me... but ya know how the rest goes... 1 forgive, 6 punishes. So now I'm banned in a server after trying to just save them from a J10 but instead exemplify friendly fire in the most horrible way I've ever seen it happen. It happened so fast I can't believe I actually remember how vivid the explosion looked, then just a split second later, punkbuster shows up saying I'm banned for excessive teamkilling.

God damnit.

Personally i hate wake i dont like helos, blackhawks or planes flying above me they can get annoying so i stick to my city maps karkand FTW

Man that shit was HORRIBLE THOUGH. I had the intent to kill that J10 and the damn missiles mistraced and ended up blowing up my comrades! I didn't want that to happen it's not like I planned it! Ugh... I hope they unban me though, that was purely caused by accident and I'm gonna give those lads a piece of my mind if I see them again.

I'm still shocked by what happened though! That blackhawk full of comrades didn't make it more than 4 feet off the ground and this J10 zings by, I fire because that's JUST when the lock hit but it was also at the SAME TIME he blasted past the blackhawk and... UGH!

if your usmc and dont have a squad (one who actually plays as a squad!) then your fucked.  i found this out the other night.  if one guy was actually lucky enough to get on the island the other commander had a fix on him and blew him to shit as he stepped on.  so if your usmc you must plan.  not a lone wolfers map by any means.

My pet hate the idiot the Attack helo attracks on Wake.
I manged to get in as pilot and in leaps a idiot gunner, and start shooting the deck infornt of everyone, they all toke offence and decided to jump all over the helo to punish the nasty gunner with Tk's, no no hang on the pilot gets them, cheers guys!!!. And they all toke offence when I was annoyed!!, 1 said sorry, once I explained that he punished me for the gunners actions!!.
One thing I will say is the admins, actually toke note of what happened and didn't kick or ban me!.

Wake's my most played map, and I do enjoy it if the teams are even.

also if some people manage to get on the island, only few show anything resembling tactical planning or common sense. instead of attacking two flags at once, thus giving the enemy only one arty target, everyone clumps around the one flag and gets vaporized.
also no one feels the need to ward of enemy defenders rushing in. the few times when some usmc suards worked as squads AND worked together, they totally blew the chinese forces off the island.

oh yea @topic: man i feel for you. that´s the worst, getting banned because you try to pull your weight. seems to have been an unlucky day, i hope you didn´t marry or something the same day.  +1 for at least trying.

If it gets bad enough, I'll just wait on the carrier until the US takes a flag.  Can't stand the constant barrage on the upper deck. 

If people are squading up and working together, the first run at south docks is short, gets several AT guys and maybe an engineer on the ground, and the influx of tanks etc is stopped before the Chinese can retake the point.  By now, the warehouse is a good place for the heli to attack and let the ground pounders in.

If I'm a squad leader, I just try to get on land and hide.  Give my guys a place to spawn until the US can get a foothold.

The Best strat I've found to work on Wake Island as USMC is, get in a jet on the carrier and fly directly to the North Village.  Jump out of the jet and take that CP.  90% of the time the PLA spawns at the North Base and not the North Village.  You will cap the CP before anyone even knows it and can get to your location.  Once taken the rest of the troops can converge from there (hopefully).  This works great especially if you can load and join the game faster than most of the rest of the players.  You can also take the Beach this way also, but the North Village gives you the best cover.  Once taken grab the buggy and hall ass to the Airfield and try to cap that, although that is tough by yourself.  This works very well and I suggest you give it a shot to get your team off the carrier.

Yikes.  Need to stop browsing in multiple threads at the same time. 

Wake infuriates me sometimes.  So much so, that I confuse it with other maps in a fit of rage!

Sheez, some people and their use of negative karma just because of this. Well anyway, whoever this guy was, THANK YOU for dementing my choice of servers but it's one of the better 24/7 wake servers in which I actually get good ping in.

Here's a situation that works for me.  First of all, you do need to squad up.  2nd, do not take anybody with you for the following:

Take multiple boats out of the carrier and swing extremely wide of the battle.  Usually if you swing to the east, you have a better chance of not being detected.  It may take more time getting to shore, but it does allow you to move in under less fire.  When your close to shore, have the others join your squad.  Split and create a secondary squad from yours to create multipe, moble spawn points. 

Grab the Blackhawk and go high, VERY HIGH.  Keep gaining altitude, and don't look back.  The planes whores are typiclly attracted to ground movement or the fast movers along the deck.  Once your to a point where your above typical blackhawk operating area, call on your boys to spawn on you.  You can allow them to "H.A.L.O." into a drop zone, or bail over the objective.  From there, they can split off of you and create more mobile spawn points for the sorry sob's on the carrier deck who just wait for the planes. 

This is the only real way to overcome being raped at your non-cap.  They are medium percentage answers, but they can get the tide in your favor.
