If you go to EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\Common_client (it should be a .zip archive), you can extract any of the folders in there to get the in-game sound clips (all the "Enemy ___ spotted" stuff, for example, as well as the Commo Rose stuff and other miscellaneous voiceovers), in four or five different languages.

But listening to the English VO stuff, I noticed a whole bunch of clips I'd never heard before.  I mean, even aside from the "Enemy wheelbarrow spotted!  Hahaha", there were all kinds of things I'd never heard--like "Enemy mine spotted", "Hold on, reloading weapon", "Sorry man, we're 86 on meds, hold on", "Marking target", "We're getting wasted, fall back!", etc. etc--at least several dozen clips in all.

I saw in other threads that maybe these were left in from a beta version of BF2, but were eliminated from the game.  But other threads say my audio quality isn't high enough, and if I set it to High I'll hear more voiceover stuff.  But since I use crap-tacular Integrated Audio, I'm not able to set my audio quality above Medium.  Has anyone else ever heard some of these voice clips, or am I just crazy?

I don't know how many times I want to point out an enemy mine or claymore to a teammate and can't.

So frustrating.

I know that they need to add Ememy UAV spotted.  Maybe that is the reason the game takes up so much space.  They add a lot of files that they do not use.  Also, I do not think it is a sound setting that will allow you to hear other sounds.  That does not sound correct to me.  Maybe if you were using surround sound, that would be different, but still pushing it.

I use the com rose( when I am squad leader its binded to the "t " key , point to the mine/ claymore and spot "repair here" Im hoping the purple smoke will maybe alert the smart engineers. At least this gives a heads up to my teammates.

True.  It certainly doesn't help that enabling EAX surround sound (which my onboard audio supports...barely) is notorious for causing (even more) "There is a problem with your connection" messages.

So those voice clips were coded out of the final release of BF2?  That's too bad, I was thinking maybe it was just my crappy audio settings.  Some of the voice clips ("Incoming grenade!", "Bridge is down, sir!") could be useful if they were actually in the game...grrr.

I am sure the "Marking Target" voice over comes from the times when they still planned to put a LTD in the game.

The Commo Rose has limited capabilities. If there are too many voice overs, you won't be able to navigate through them quickly enough for the system to be effective. Maybe that's why EA chose not to include that many voice overs in the final release.

btw, "bridge is down" or "we are getting wasted" are global voice overs that come up in certain situations during the game. You wouldn't be able to choose either of them through the Commo Rose anyway.

I've not heard "we are getting wasted"

but last night I put my audio quality on high which makes the game so much better IMO.

Bullets zip by you, choppers and jets sound more realistic, explosions sound better and the dailouge is better (I always wondered why I didn't here people speak when I was stood next to them, now I know why)

I was wrong.  The game is programmed to use the additional voices if you change your audio settings.  I changed mine to High, Very High would not work, and I did get other voices.

Here are some of the ones I remember that I got.

Hit this spot instead of Attack this position
I'm bingo on ammot instead of .......
We are losing work harder instead of We losing soldier (or what ever is said when you start losing)
A lot of different ones instead of Okay/Roger and Negitive/No way man

So it does make a difference.  Plus there are other added sounds, like the bullets hitting the ground, bullets flaying by, etc.

At least change the setting an listen to it in Single Player.  Also, I did not notice a change in performance when I made the switch, I also played onlline.
