This might have been noted, but using the search function level 1, 2 and 3. I did not find a satisfying answer.

Upon surfing a website of my interest I found the following document.

http://www.army-technology.com/projects/agusta/

Now is it just me, or does that attack helicopter look somewhat familiar. Unbelievable, they put in an Italian helicopter, for the Chinese. I did read something about people thinking it was the South-African AH-2As Rooivalk Attack Helicopter, but it hasn't got the nose mounted radar dome.

Given that there are very few photos of a real prototype WZ-10 as it is not a REAL production aircraft yet.. and the ones that do exist may be fabricated to some extent, and DICE took the best information they could find and "prototyped" their own version as best they could.

I think this is a case of ....

there can only be so many design configurations given similar mission requirements.. and the chinese are showing that they do with their military.. much what they do with a lot of other things.. need to build it fast.. so why re-design the wheel, take what works.. and make it faster... cheaper... we'll have to wait and see if we can add better to that list.

but I think it looks a lot like the design of the Agusta or the Rooivalk. . . because it is !

The chinese need to invest serious money and effort into modernizing its battlefield mobility. If one looks at the use of modern reliable transport helicopters in the PLA, there is a huge disparity in the amount they would need to have any chance of being effective against a highly mechanized and rapidly mobile enemy. in the realm of the modern battlefield, moving large numbers of ground troops in and out of a hostile fire zone with ground transportation would result in devestating losses.

the development of this attack helicopter looks promising, for the PLA to have any chance of taking the fight to any possible future enemies a HUGE logistical and monetary investment will have to be made modernizing its rotary wing air power.. similar to what they are trying to do with the PLAAF J-11's

and the newer SU-30MKK's

Little is know about it, and the prc doesnt have them in *deployment* yet. Attack helicopters are finicky things, requiring even more maitenance per flight hour than some jet fighters.

BF2 takes place in a "just after tomorrow" setting though.
Even the f-35's(that the us uses) are not in active deployment.
