It was strange how happy I was :')

Not strange at all, this game has an odd sense of accomplishment for me.

Munar landings ftw o/

I suck at even getting in to orbit around Kerbin. Just can't get out of the atmosphere with enough fuel

The trick is that less is more, I've found.

Also, follow the tutorials as they help a lot. I dunno if what I do is correct, but at about 11k metres, I start to turn east 45 degrees and do that til the apoapsis is maybe 150-200k metres, then cut engines. Get within 1 minute to the apoapsis then boost towards it (the yellow circle) until the periapsis appears and just level it out.

Here's the ship I got to the moon with, and also about 80billion metres (but with no return):

In the middle is a separator with another engine behind it.

Yeah, I did the tutorials, but there isn't one about actually getting to orbit.

I've been going straight up until I'm at zero atmosphere, then following the steps about the aprothingy, but I can't get the orbit big enough before running out of fuel, even though I've got bloody loads

I don't even have this game but I watched this...

anyway he says something about your airspeed being too fast and just wasting fuel. Also that whole "turn towards 45 degrees" thing is in here.

edito: skip to roughly the 16 minute mark

docking is infuriating, my ship will randomly change pitch or rotate when using the translation controls. GAAAAAAAAh

Preferred MS Space Sim. I wish they didn't abandon that game.

Are your RCS ports not located directly on the pitch/yaw axes? If you offset a quad symmetry so that they're 45 degrees off like that, I know your situation will happen.

I picked this game up last week and WHAT A FUCKING CRACK ADDICTION GAME!

Finally mastered orbits around Kerbin.  Thinking of making a space station before trying for the moon as I've found that getting into a good orbit and then having lots of fuel are mutually exclusive.

Not really. I've managed to make a station piece by piece where very little fuel was used in getting them to rendezvous and then only RCS used to maneuver. You've just got to learn to be efficient. I made it in 3 different pieces (so far) and it's in a nearly circular orbit at 130km. Once it's built, too, you can send up unmanned fuel rockets to keep you topped up as you use it as a gas station for missions further from Kerbin.

You can get an orbit big enough to get to the furthest planet with just one ship and its fuel (of course, not enough to slow down and land there).

I got into orbit, to the Mun, and landed all with one ship. Didn't make it back though (see a few posts up). It was also the demo

Alright gents, after dumping an idiotic amount of time into this, I finally present you: The TSC Nebula Class Starship! (NCS)

https://static.bf2s.com/files/user/14407/NCS1.jpg

My first finished prototype, designated the USS Odysseus, is made of 7 separate parts which needed to be launched individually and then assembled in orbit.  The standard NCS is a long-range, interplanetary ship designed to carry a crew and equipment to within range of distant celestial bodies and then proceed to serve as an orbital base/station while shuttle ships perform surface missions.  The ship sports four LV-N Atomic, and four LV-909 Liquid Fuel Engines for general maneuvering as well as 2 large Rockomax "Mainsail" Liquid Engines for large changes in delta V.  Twin Toroidal Aerospike Rockets are also placed opposite the main engine blocks to provide retrograde burns without requiring the ship to turn around.  In addition to the bridge, the NCS features crew quarters to support up to 11 Kerbals at one time (not including space on docked shuttle ships), allowing for diverse crews on long range missions.  Two docking bridges in the center of the ship are available to accommodate and carry up to two space planes as well as an additional two docks in the stern of the ship which are available for either lunar landers or remote-control refuel tankers (not pictured) with which to provide additional range to space plane missions.  Finally, at the port just behind the bridge, each NCS carries a payload of four long-range probes for advance scouting and information gathering on destination planets.

All engines firing.

All in all, this was a huge timesink, but damn I cannot remember the last time I felt so accomplished in a game

I love the face in that screen haha.  And the current plan is to go to Laythe (sp?) so the space planes can use the atmosphere to land and what not.

I finally had to say fuck it and download MechJeb.  I probably could have learned how to synchronize orbits and all that shit, but seriously, I have simply don't have the time anymore.

MechJeb is awesome though, you just input your desired orbit and hit autopilot.  No more fumbling around with that hideous orbit interface.  Managed to get my space station into orbit last night only to find it had a design flaw.  Was fun ramming Jeb and Bill into it at 500 mps and watching it explode.

Wait are you saying there's another world? I was only ever messing around with getting to Mun. Dammit it's going to suck me in again...
