but wouldn't that count in the word count? i've wrote it under the bottom where there are footnotes so it doesn't count, but on the last page there's only 2 lines and no footnotes
there's this really amazing thing called 'basic math', and what you do is this:
1- write 'word count: x'
2- whilst defining the number 'x', subtract 2 (i.e. the phrase 'word count')
3- compute your new word-count
3b- don't care anyway because your marker/examiner isn't literally going to count every single word for absolute accuracy

Also you can just select the parts of the document you want counted and do a word count then. But the basic algebra method is much easier. Furthermore, the estimation method is even easier.
And if you only need it for one page, then just format it yourself. No need for headers or footers.
