I read this on the BC2 forum..

for your little rant about fos only suited for the pc, YOUR AN IDIOT! i used to be an advid pc gamer but i always hated the fn mouse and key board. IT BLOWS! the console was always way more fun. ex. i buy the same system that everyone else has. no need to deal with frustrating lag because of different rigs and i dont have to spend a bagillion dollars every fn time a new game comes out. by the way fps have always done better on the consoles anyways, which is why so many developers make so many for them. besides you morons are just going to steal the games anyways.
So what effect does this have on you, facepalm, laugh, rage?

He has a point. Buy a console and be guaranteed it'll run everything that comes out for it for a few years or have to do constant updating on a PC.

Also you just put a game in and it'll run on a PS3 or Xbox, after installing of course, no need to worry if it'll run correctly or updating or patching.

I'm meh for it all though, outside is fun.

It's not a troll at all. Or an invitation to flame. Not even a PC vs Console thing. You get the same thing from PC fanboys (albeit less often).

This tbh, anyone who says FPS games are better on consoles better be trolling.

And

Consoles are lowering the standard of PC games.

To make money, PC game requirements are lowered in order for dual releases on PC and consoles.

Because graphics > gameplay.

What about Fallout 3?
That game runs excellent on computers, but is kinda shitty and has glitches and problems on the consoles.

If you look at most new games, you can see that they cater to the console audience more than the PC audience, from controls, to gameplay, to plotlines, to graphics.

If a game uses the same buttons to do loads of stuff, it's consolized (borderlands drives your car wherever you are aiming, instead of allowing you to turn with A and D)

A lot of depth of gameplay has gone out the window as well, prone, inventories, rate of fire changing, among countless others are rarely put in games anymore.

Even if you just look at the hubbub with CoD4:2 over the massive consolization that has happened to its entire multiplayer system, it should show that as consoles try to compete with PCs the entire industry suffers.

But I'm talking about standards here. In the case of FO3, it seems like the console standard was lowered so that it would be easier to port over to PC, instead of vice versa (PC standard being lowered so it'd be easier to port from consoles).

Fallout was a reverse port, the Oblivion engine was designed for PCs.

However, the clear majority of games released these days are made for consoles, then ported over to PC.

It seems that most games today are designed for the console group, and they just seem so dumbed down, repetitive and bland.

PC exclusives have always been the best games IMO. (Crysis, STALKER, BF series, Quake series, etc.) Not to mention RTS games.

Lower graphics, many glitches (both gameplay-wise and graphical).

Obviously most PCs are going to be able to handle higher settings better, but maybe they went too high, thus being too much for consoles?

Besides, if more people are playing on consoles, what's wrong with catering to a wider audience? I suppose if you've got all the consoles and a decent PC, it doesn't matter. But for many people, it's one or the other.

(Just trying to play devil's advocate here)

Also, I will agree that the majority of games are better on PC, have you guys tried playing a platformer on PC? Maybe it's just me, but it's annoying and I hate the feel of it. I find it much easier and more fun to play a platformer on a console. Same with racing games and fighters and sports games, now that I think about it. Each genre has its +'s and -'s depending on what system it's played on. So I suppose developers should cater accordingly, not going for a general overall preference of console over PC or vice versa.

Sure, cater to the console audience, just keep console games and pc games seperate.

It's the merging that causes the poor quality, when they were seperate both had pros, consoles have given up what made them special as have pcs.

As for your edit, remember that not only can PCs do controllers, they have a much wider range of controllers to choose from.

I can do both but prefer console games mainly due to the just being able to play straight out of box.
Don't care if the graphics are dumbed down by some small standard I wouldn't notice or care too or if my gameplay is simpler. Time is sparce and the less time taken patching, configuring, and on and on with PC games can be exhausting.

I think the future of "gaming" will be on consoles because people will prefer the simplicity.

Even still, Fallout was massively consolized.

Compare it to older PC FPSRPGs, compare it to previous bethesda games, compare it to previous fallout games. It lost a lot of gameplay depth, and ended up being a very thin, short game. That is, unless you bought the DLC, which is in itself consolization.

I have no problem with games being made for both console and PC, but please make the PC version more suited to the PC's increased power, server-side bandwith and precision controls.

DICE claims that they are doing just that with BC2, and giving that the PC version will have 32 players apposed to 24 on consoles, and in the PC version of BC2 you can go prone. PC FPS games also needs guns that behave different so that they are better balanced with the M&K, and while DICE have not gone out to say that exactly, they seem to be on the right track about everything else.

I also really love all the baaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwww-ing on the BC2 forums about the PC's preferential treatment, and when the community manager tells the console kids to go out and buy a better system if they want a better game I smile widely

The future of "gaming" will be on consoles because that's where MS throws their money and because the PC community is a bunch of pussies who prefer to blame themselves for consolization that try to do anything about it.
