laptop gfx for bf2 ?

My pc is dead, so im going to buy a laptop, being a UNI student this is better.

Now a requirement is that it can run BF2 @ 1400 by 1050, preferably 1680x1050....

what minimum laptop gfx card/chip do i need to run at this resolution at full detail ?

The rest of it will be like, c2d 1.8ghz dual core, 2-3 gb ram, etc etc.

my budget is <400 GBP otherwise i would just buy a dell xps!

You can get a Dell XPS for 400 pounds?
For 400GBP you can get a lappy with 8400GS graphics. It will run your res but not on high. Low/medium is my best guess.

8600 is what I'd go for. Should do at least all high 4xAA very well.

grrr looks like id be better upgrading my desktop then ?

in which case, wh\as he best silent case for aircooling ? card would be a 4870x2 and 2 hdd's, cpu " e6300 overclocked, 4gb ram

Why are you looking to run a game on a laptop at 1680x1050?

Are you plugging it into an external 22" widescreen monitor? Most laptop screens are far tinier than that.

My laptop screen is 1680 x 1050... and it is almost 2 years old.

I don't think BF2 even supports that high of a resolution though... or even wide screen for that matter.

My laptop screen is 1680 x 1050... and it is almost 2 years old.

Does support 1600x1200.

Can be forced to run widescreen by shortcut flag or "widescreen fixer" that is the better option.

You're overreacting. Those deaths would be way after half a year, and only if you run it really hot, cool, hot, cool, hot, etc, like blocking a fan when gaming, and then letting it free when on the desktop.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity.
